Good Morrow! Space Adventures With Lord British
- BERJAYA 6 Comments
I went to a lecture this week held by the pleasantly flamboyant game designer/entrepreneur/astronaut Richard Garriott.

The lecture was made up of a combination of his various successes, interests and hobbies, beginning with some biographical snippets. These snippets included information about his first forays into programming on a teletype machine, a self-directed "foreign language credit" course in Basic that his high-school created solely for him, and the way in which his desire to create a private space programme came from the heartbreak he felt at being casually informed by a NASA eye doctor that, due to his poor eyesight, he could never become an astronaut. His dad was an astronaut, his neighbours were astronauts - the idea that not everybody could go to space for a living blew his mind.

30K Gotham City Impostors Closed Beta Keys Giveaway @ Eurogamer
- BERJAYA 2 Comments
Eurogamer is giving away 30,000 keys for the closed beta of Monolith’s upcoming shooter Gotham City Impostors. The beta is only for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and runs until the 20th.

Gotham City Impostors is the new Batman game from Monolith Productions. In a dark and war-ravaged version of Bat's home city, you play as a one of its citizens fighting in a bloody civil war.

Players can choose whether to dress as Batman and fight for the forces of order or exact bloody clown-fuelled vengeance battling for Joker and his criminal crew.

But there's a lot more to the game than masks and make-up. Gotham City Impostors features 1000 levels of character advancement overflowing with unlockables and upgrades, while weapons and gadgets are fully customisable.

So whether you want to be a hulking hero on rollerskates wielding a bow and arrow, or a badass clown with glider wings and a homebrew rocket launcher, Gotham City Impostors is for you.

I’ve checked and they still have keys available for both platforms, but this giveaway started yesterday, so don’t tarry if you’d like to get in on the beta.

Crusader Kings II "Lust" Trailer Released
- BERJAYA 0 Comments
Paradox Interactive has released Lust, its third live action trailer for Crusader Kings II based on the Seven Deadly Sins.

Since Crusader Kings II sees players controlling not a country but a ruling dynasty, sex, just like in real life, couldn't be more important. Failure to raise a suitable heir could face you with a Game Over screen, while especially virile kings might find a romantic affair shattering the reputation of their entire nation. Which is to say nothing of bastard children! Having leaked from your loins they have a stronger claim to your throne than most, which would make them a worryingly influential enemy. Oh dear!

My last Notes From The Bunker talks a little bit about sex, love, and lust in Crusader Kings II. If you are lusting for a more complete overview of CK2's gameplay then you should check out this Let’s Play.

Battle Net Adds Battle Tags
- BERJAYA 2 Comments

BERJAYA

Blizzard is giving gamers a new way of identifying themselves across all of their blizzard games, similar to Real ID. Not similar to Real ID, these BattleTags are not unique, so no worries that some noob has beat you to claiming your tag you've gone by for the past 10 years. You can set your BattleTag in your Battle.Net account settings page.

"A BattleTag is a unified, player-chosen nickname that will identify you across all of Battle.net -- in Blizzard Entertainment games, on our official websites, and in our community forums. Similar to the Real ID system, BattleTags will ultimately give players on Battle.net a new way to manage public profiles, find and chat with friends they've met while playing, form groups, and stay connected across multiple Blizzard games."

Modern Warfare 3 Temporary Ban = 5000 Days
- BERJAYA 4 Comments

If you're enough of an asshat to get a 'temporary' ban for some reason while playing Modern Warfare 3, don't put too much stock in the fact that it contains the word 'temporary'. When a ban lasts 5000 days or 13.5 years, it doesn't feel very temporary, as I doubt there will be many people still playing Modern Warfare 3 in 13 years.

Infinity Ward Creative Strategist Robert Bowling did confirm that "If you see this message, it means you've been Permabanned (for something bad)."

Blizzard's 2011 "Happy Holidays" Card Arrives
- BERJAYA 3 Comments
Back in the old days Blizzard used to snail mail out awesome holiday cards around this time, but now that they've gone digital they're so much easier to share with the rest of the world. The digital cards are still just as cool as they were back then, so I guess we can just call it a win-win for everyone. Here's what came in to the VE shufflin' crew from Blizzard's Public Relations team yesterday.

Psst... Heavy Fire: Afghanistan Is Available
- BERJAYA 4 Comments
We've gotten word that Heavy Fire: Afghanistan is available on the PC, 360 and Wii. The recently released trailer (below) is a little bit misleading though, considering that it makes the game come off as a FPS. Make sure to watch something with actual gameplay so you know what to expect.

Gmoist was drooling over this game for awhile, well, until he saw that it was a rail shooter. It looks like Battlefield 3 and Operation Wolf had a baby. Shit, now that I think about it those games used to be a lot of fun. Do you guys remember the Terminator 2 arcade cabinet / shooter? I probably dumped $100+ into that thing over several years.

Battlefield 3 Physical Warfare Pack Now Free For PS3 Owners
- BERJAYA 2 Comments
EA is giving an early Christmas present to everyone that didn't pre-order Battlefield 3 for their Playstation 3 - the Physical Warfare pack DLC for free. The pack is supposedly already available in the Playstation store, so go grab it if that's the platform you play on. Just don't ask me why the PS3 community is getting hooked up first again, it's truly a mystery. To jog your memory, here's what the pack included originally just for pre-order customers at launch:

The Physical Warfare Pack grants you instant access to the powerful DAO-12 shotgun, if you haven’t unlocked it already. It also features custom flechette ammo for the DAO-12, a flash suppressor for the SKS sniper rifle, plus the Type 88 Light Machine Gun.
The Battlefield Blog states that PC and Xbox 360 players will also be able to get their hands on the DLC at a later date. We'll keep you guys posted, because we all know where the real action is.

Blah... Summer 2012 Movie Trailers & Battlefield 3
- BERJAYA 28 Comments
It's always nice to have things to look forward to when you're stuck in the middle of a frigid ass winter. I haven't been a fan of the colder months since I was a kid, back when stuff like snowball fights and ice skating was fun. Being all grown up I just long for the sunny blue skies, so much in fact that I've even considered buying one of those goofy Philips "goLITE BLU" devices. Anyone else feeling a little bit of the SAD?

At least the summer movie trailers are hitting, so that's something. Games have obviously winded down a little bit now, so it's nice to have temporary replacements. Sacha Baron Cohen is back in "The Dictator", which looks like it's going to be more of a proper film and less of a gag on the unknowing public. If you're looking for big guns and explosions there'll be even more classic action film stars in "The Expendables II", including Chuck Norris, and Ahhnold Schwarzenegger. Men in Black finally returns too, with "Men in Black 3." It's been awhile since I wanted to see a flick at the theater, but I have a feeling that's going to change in 2012.

Oh and I wanted to mention that I did finally fire up Battlefield 3 again, and can now play properly. I'm not sure who to thank really, whether a resolution to my woes came from one of the official game patches, or new Nvidia drivers. Either way, now I can see more about what I've been missing. Jet combat is a bit of a downer because the maps feel like fishbowls, but the infantry and ground vehicle play is pretty damn impressive. Good stuff so far.

Anyways guys, that's all for your Friday update. Leave me a comment for me though, won't you? While doing so, let me know if you're interested in a Dota 2 beta invite, and I'll draw a winner tomorrow!
