With the impending collapse of the Citadel, two members of the Resistance are tasked with evacuating any citizens remaining. Little do they know that their mission sees them gaining critical information that puts the early fate of White Forest in their hands.
It seems intriguing, but there's not much to go on at the moment. There are a few more pieces of information about the mod over at MODDB.com, but no release date yet.
Weekeeeend! Yeeeeahhh! I'm going to guiltily play games. High on the list of guiltily playable games: Trine 2 (for which I will be rustling up a review in the near future) and Serious Sam: BFE. The more conservative members of society will tell you that the BFE stands for "Before First Encounter," but Urban Dictionary begs to differ. I actually have a BFE key to give to one of you distinguished people - if you have any insightful/hilarious ideas about those three letters and which words they may have been ripped from, throw them headlong into the comment section. The collection of words that brings me the most joy for whatever arbitrary reason will be the winner. I'll update this post with the name of the victor on Sunday evening.
The news of GSC's closure looks to be based on more than just idle rumour, much to my dismay. I'm attempting to assuage my grief with the idea that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 would have certainly turned out like this.

I knew it was bound to happen as soon as I heard the jarl of Markarth open his mouth. Somebody's gone and re-made Arnold as well as a handful of other famous poeple in Skyrim's character creation system. Not too bad, though I really only see it in the first two. That however, gives me an idea.
I have a Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity key to give away, and I think I'd like to give it to you fine folks. It may be the holidays, but you've gotta work for your free games here, I'm not your nana.
I want you, at some point over this weekend, to create what you think I look like IRL, using the Skyrim character creation tool. Host it on some image hosting site, and post the link in the comments. Come Monday, a random winner will be drawn and I'll announce the lucky duck. To be eligible, do not send us any pictures directly, they have to be hosted elsewhere and the link posted in the comments so that all can enjoy what you come up with. Also I would not be offended if you felt the need to use photoshop in addition to be able to eek out that extra bit of realism. Commence!
A new Hitman Absolution video has some dev diary stuff spliced in with footage of a CGI woman in the shower; that's all you need to know. OK, OK, they talk a little bit about the instinct feature, and do mention that they aren't doing away with the ability to play through without killing anyone (except for the main targets of course!). All in all, not much new info here, so watch it for the top shelf CGI, and get your juices flowing in anticipation for the next in this classic series.
GSC is closed, a fact confirmed by all. The team is almost completely dissolved, the state has only a few people. The rumor originally popped up at Ukranews.com, which is currently down. Several tweets from GSC's Social Media Manager have given the most credence to the rumor. Some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 concept art has "leaked" out too, check it out if you're into that kind of stuff. Like most other sites we're still waiting for a more official statement however, so take this with a grain of salt until then. The reason, which I believe - STALKER 2 is obtained only for PC: an agreement with publishers on the console did not work, and self-publishing the game under the console at the GSC does not have resources. Some say that the GSC demanded incredible condition, others that Western publishers do not want to postapokalipsisa from Eastern Europe. It is clear that the story the game on a PC with a target market in Eastern Europe would be sold in small editions.
Once Back to Karkand releases I'm going to try to give Battlefield 3 another run. I cringe at the thought of hopping back in at level 2, but what can you do?
"I'm getting packing for my new adventure – camera, notebook and baseball bat. What else would i need for a break in paradise? - Frank"
A new adventure in paradise. What say thee?
Man, I really need to get back to Mass Effect 2 and finish it up before this comes out.

Another week, another Dota 2 blog update! Valve somehow continues to port in at least one new Dota hero every week (holidays excluded of course) into the Dota 2 beta, it's pretty impressive if you ask me. Just released is Krobelus, the Death Prophet, also known as "Defiler" to the Heroes of Newerth community. She can push a lane like crazy, and can take down a tower better than any other intelligence hero. Not only that, but she's pretty capable of getting kills too.
Like most other new heroes currently in the beta, you can read more about her original form at the Dota 1 fansites. The data pretty much mirrors what's been implemented into Dota 2.
The patch brought in some other updates and changes not related to Krobelus, including a new Radiant Ancient destruction sequence, and an auto-return to matchmaking if a player fails to load at the start of a match. Here's a link to the change log.
Usually when I go and try to remember some of the golden oldies stuff like Interstate 76, Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries, Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road, and Super Dodgeball pops right into my head. Then I get to thinking more about it, and my other favorites pop up, but for whatever reason the games I just listed usually appear in the ol' grey matter first. Maybe it's just because the itch for that type of gameplay isn't being fulfilled by other more modern titles?
I think if I were to ever try to get some sort of development effort of my own going I'd almost instinctively want to revive some of that old magic. I mean, even take the vehicle combat games... Sure, Twisted Metal is right around the corner, and there was Full Auto, Blur, etc. over recent years, but in my opinion those games just can't compare to Interstate 76 which was essentially a Mechwarrior game, but with customizable cars instead of mechs. Maybe it's just the years under my belt at this point, but I really miss getting more of those kinds of classics despite how limited technology was back then.
Have a great weekend everyone!
