NeverDead Image Bonanza
- BERJAYA 0 Comments
Konami has released some new screenshots, renders and art work for the upcoming console horror-action title, NeverDead, which is being co-developed with Rebellion Software. NeverDead hits shelves in February 2012.

NeverDead stars an immortal hero called Bryce Boltzmann who, alongside his partner Arcadia, works for an agency tasked with dealing with demonic incursions. As demons from the dawn of time emerge on present-day Earth, so Bryce – armed with an arsenal of guns and a Butterfly-Blade – and the gun-toting Arcadia must locate and destroy the hostile invaders. As the malformed adversaries appear, the heavily-armed Bryce must protect his sidekick and work together to kill them all.

However, as the monsters get larger and more vicious, the side-effect of Bryce’s immortality is revealed. For, as the player is attacked by the various miscreants, Bryce can be torn limb from limb, but can simply reattach the parts to his body. Even when all limbs have been removed, Bryce can roll around as a head, looking to reattach his lost parts. He can even use his amputated body parts as weapons, throwing arms into clusters of monsters, and still firing the attached gun, or lobbing his head into seemingly impossible areas, to gain access to new parts of the map.

Way too many images for the front page, catch them after the jump!

The AM Socket Stuffer
- BERJAYA 30 Comments

BERJAYA

Thanksgiving is already a week in the rear view mirror now, I hope everyone had a good one. I ended up hosting at my house this year, and speaking of Socket Stuffers, I decided to go all out and stuff that turkey with a couple of other birds and some pig for good measure. It turned out pretty tasty, but getting up at 5 am probably wasn't worth it. One thing I probably will do from now on though is de-bone the turkey. It was pure awesome to be able to cut into a large mass of meat without worrying about bones and other riff-raff getting in the way.

I've started playing around with a few Skyrim mods over the last week as well. I got some that are purely aesthetic changes, one that allows Skyrim to use more than 2 GB of memory, and a pretty decent UI tweak; I have yet to find any mods that feel essential as I had hoped. There are some WIP projects that look good but I'll probably wait for the full/final release. What about you guys and gals? Do you have some favorite, must-download mods you've found?

Last but not least, a caption contest! Granted I have no prize to give away, but I want to hear your sick sense of humor anyways! Happy Thursday everyone.

Hearts Of Iron 3 Collection Giveaway @VE3D
- BERJAYA 37 Comments
A group of Sages once asked “War, what is it good for?” While their collective answer was “absolutely nothing,” I beg to differ. Besides providing a perfect opportunity for male bonding, war is also a great muse. It has inspired so many great works of art and literature as well as various games from multiple genres.

Of course the biggest war, in recent centuries, was the Second World War. Very few countries were able to keep out of that one. Yet, you rarely see a strategy game that allows you to play Brazil or Siam during those tumultuous times. However, the Hearts of Iron series lets you play any country in the world during that era. There is no better series out there about building up for and waging total war on a global scale.

Thus, we are declaring today World War Wednesday and celebrating this day by giving away 10 copies of the Hearts of Iron 3 Collection. As with previous giveaways this week, we shall give five copies away to people here and five copies away via our official Steam group.

To enter the random drawing answer the following question. If you could go back in time to 1936 and take over a country, which country would you pick and what would you do with it? Alternatively, if you aren’t feeling creative, you may just state that you’d like to be entered into the drawing.

Two New Shogun 2 DLCs Released
- BERJAYA 5 Comments
Sega has just announced the release of two new DLCs for Total War: SHOGUN 2. The first is the Hattori Clan Pack and the second is the Blood Pack. Read on for a description of what these DLCs add.

The powerful and secretive Hattori clan, masters of the shadowy arts of assassination and bribery, are now available to unlock in your Total War: SHOGUN 2 campaign. Featuring the most powerful battlefield ninja available, an extra historical battle scenario, extra armor and an XP injection for your Avatar, the Hattori Clan can be played in single and multiplayer campaigns and in online battles. This DLC pack was originally included in the SHOGUN 2 Limited Edition.

Also available now is the Total War: SHOGUN 2 ‘Blood Pack’. In true Seven Samurai style, this mature content adds decapitations, limb removals, blood-spatter effects on weapons and battlefields and much more. With this DLC, your forces can now tear chunks out of the enemy with rifle or cannon fire, but be wary of getting too close to the action or you may find yourself getting sprayed! Please note this content has a higher age rating than Total War: SHOGUN 2 and can only be purchased by those age 18 and up.

The Witcher 2 Was Probably Pirated About 4.5 Times For Every Copy Sold
- BERJAYA 60 Comments
Some interesting guesstimates on the impact of piracy on The Witcher 2 came out of a recent PC Gamer interview with CD Projekt CEO and co-founder Marcin Iwinski. With some loose approximations, Iwinski thinks that there have been as many as 4.5 million downloads of The Witcher 2 by the eye-patch wearing crowd, in comparison to just over a million actual copies sold. Don't take it the piracy talk wrong way though, CD Project still seems very pleased with their decision to go DRM-Free.

PCG: Why do you think so many other developers and publishers are stuck on DRM that inconveniences paying customers just as much as pirates? I mean, their most vocal customers are shouting “No! This is terrible!” at the top of their lungs. So why is it taking so long for them to listen?

MI: Fortunately and unfortunately at the same time, games are becoming huge business. And as with every growing business, there are a lot of people coming in who… have no clue about games and could work in any other industry. They are not asking themselves the question “What is the experience of a gamer?” Or “Is this proposition fair?” But rather, they just look to see if the column in Excel adds up well or not, and if they can have a good explanation for their bosses.

As funny as this might sound, DRM is the best explanation, the best “I will cover my ass” thing. I strongly believe that this is the main reason the industry has not abandoned it until today, and to be frank this annoys me a hell of a lot. You are asking, “So why is it taking so long for them to listen?” The answer is very simple: They do not listen, as most of them do not care. As long as the numbers in Excel will add up they will not change anything.

I don't know if I should be outraged that The Witcher 2 was only pirated 4.5 million times, or that it only just recently reached the 1 million copies sold mark. I'm not trying to be an advocate for piracy or anything like that, but The Witcher 2 was a wild ride, one definitely worth playing through in my book. So I guess my question is = what else are the pirates wasting their bandwidth on?

Be Your Own Prison Tycoon In Introversion's Prison Architect
- BERJAYA 3 Comments
In Introversion's past games like Defcon, or Darwinia, the little virtual beings at the mercy of the player(s) didn't have much to worry about when it came to maintaining a tight grip on a pixelated bar of soap. In Prison Architect, that may very well change. Check out the secret trailer that just leaked out, it looks like a really interesting concept that may appeal to builder fans.

Blah... Pranks, And Dreams Of Anno 2070
- BERJAYA 14 Comments
Have you ever made the mistake of pulling a prank on someone that's much better at it than you are? For whatever reason I decided to pull a couple on my Dad this year on Thanksgiving. First I tricked him into jolting himself with one of those shock pens (yes, the ones that actually shock), and then just before leaving I left a little thing called the Eviltron attached via a magnet to the bottom of a chair in his kitchen. So I go to see him again for his birthday the other day, and the Eviltron is gone. He's playing dumb about the whole situation, but I can tell he's scheming because of his signature smirk as I made attempts at interrogation. He was always known as a notoriously tricky prankster when I was growing up, and here I went and pulled this crap right after I turned over one of my cars to him temporarily. D'oh!

Pranks aside, I'm wondering, do you guys ever dream about your games? It's happened to me over the years on occasion, the worst was probably when the original Diablo came out. Lately I've been having these weird ass dreams about Anno 2070. They're almost identical to the game itself, where I'm optimizing the layouts of my cities, mines, farms, production facilities, etc. Some of it has even carried back through to the game, and in good ways, where my builds are more optimization. I can't say it's good for feeling all that well rested in the morning though, it's some serious busywork for the brain.

With that said, I finished the Anno 2070 campaign and first "World Event" over the weekend, so the review should be ready sometime soon. After that I've got to tie up some loose ends. Oh and Jube's all crazy about Batman: Arkham City on the PC, sounds like we'll have a review of that up soon. Oh, and we're also going to have access to the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta once it goes live. If Rose doesn't put together something on it I'm sure someone else on staff will.

Are there any other titles you guys want us to check out this year, assuming it's still relevant to do so? Let us know!
