Sept. 27th meeting at the Lakewood American Legion, conducted by Spokesman Mel McGinnis. After opening with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, members voted upon and passed the following motions:
*** [Original motion] Strip the bad amendments out of HR 2164 “Legal Workforce Act” or kill the bill. Example: An amendment to strip states of their rights to enact and enforce E-verify legislation is a bad amendment. [***Updated motion] The bad amendments having been defeated in Judiciary comm., the Legal Workforce Act is now on its way for a vote in the full house and STTPP supports this bill in its entirety.
Victory! E-Verify Bill Passes Through Judiciary Without Major Changes Wednesday, September 21, 2011, NumbersUSA – The House Judiciary Committee passed Chairman Lamar Smith’s Legal Workforce Act on Wednesday afternoon 22-to-13. Only two amendments were approved by the committee, including one offered by Chairman Smith himself. The bill, H.R.2885, would require all employers to use E-Verify Read Full Article

*** Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots support NY S712-2011 providing for a voter referendum on the question to be placed on the ballot as a public referendum: “Do you support the division of New York into two separate states?”
Paul Shanahan demonstrated with the use of NYS CPLR (Civil Law) that New York is already like 2 states or a state within a state. The law, including parts of the NYS Constitution and other regulatory, taxation, and education laws, to name a few, already delineates that the 57 counties of NY outside NYC has one set of rules where NYC defined as the 5 other counties (or 5 boroughs) has another set of rules (special considerations and exclusions). So the question of how to divide the state (what lines/demographically) is already answered. He also added that if you consider the one major factor that is always blocking certain reforms in our state, that would return us to a business friendly environment, and promote manufacturing and industry (unique to the state outside NYC whereas they are primarily Wall Street/Banking/ect), it is the block of NYC lawmakers. Splitting the state would remove that impediment for us and allow for us to finally achieve said reforms (Taylor law/Wicks law/ect.)
LET YOUR STATE SENATOR AND ASSEMBLY PERSON (AS WELL AS YOUR COUNTY REPS) KNOW YOU SUPPORT ADVANCING THE QUESTION.
~ ~ ~
Mr Shanahan later addressed the group on the matter of our current County budget crisis, the increase (and lack of reform) in unfunded mandates from Albany, how that itself is forcing us to break the Tax Cap, and the overall relationship between the County and the State, as well as specific areas of concern and steps that can be taken.
First with respect to County law and County governments existence, the Local government Bill of Rights, and Municipal Home Rule, it was pointed out that the NYS Constitution defines these things. For anyone not clear or familiar with the County’s powers and limitations, you can study the issue here.
“We have home rule and our county needs to stand up to the state and advocate for Chautauqua County”, “our county was not using powers available to it under home rule”, “More assertiveness is needed by the county to reduce a $7 million deficit,” he said.
He cited examples of the huge increase in social service budget, plus abuse within the county’s welfare and Medicaid system that can and needs to be addressed at the county level, the legislature’s “pork barrel” portion of the bed tax that leaves a $70k budget gap needing to be closed by reforming said policy, the desperately needed revenues we were deprived of by the State’s refusing to grant our County Legislature’s resolution to restore our sales tax rate.
“There’s a problem of state overreach into the counties resulting in little local control,” and he added “the state-county relationship is similar to the situation we have with the federal-state relationship and federal overreach.” Where the states are asserting themselves and pushing back, its high time the counties do the same to Albany.
Finally, he reminded that the tentative county budget will be introduced to the legislature by Executive Edwards tomorrow night in Mayville, that a members roundtable on the county budget is being formed, and that there will be much more discussion in coming days including a Sales tax-Property tax discussion.

Duplication of services is rampant in the county, said Sid Compton, speaking about his Sept. 11 article in The Post-Journal (Look At The Numbers In Repetitive Government) (see also: PJ Editorial supporting his initiative - Allies Should Back Compton’s View). Reducing services to seven county districts – Jamestown, Dunkirk, plus five others in the county – would save taxpayers $7 million each year. This also would reduce the current 18 school districts to seven. Compton’s key point was that there would be no reduction in county workforce per se, rather only in management /administration (elected officials) county-wide.
Mr Compton is continuing to put together details and is in discussions with certain state officials regarding legalities involved. There will likely be a forum on the specific effort in the near future, stay tuned.

Current Tea Party Patriots programs designed to restore our country back to a Constitutionally Limited Government. Part of our 40 year plan. We invite all Patriots everywhere to participate with us in this effort!
Patriots across the country are concerned that students are not being taught about our founding documents. Tea Party Patriots is mounting a national campaign for 2011 Constitution Week to encourage schools to comply with a law passed by Congress in 2004 requiring an educational program on the Constitution be taught during Constitution Week (September 17-23).
The “Adopt a School” program is a simple three step program to help encourage schools to fulfill the federal mandate through our grassroots effort and bring our Constitutional heritage back into our public schools. . The steps are: 1) Adopt a School, 2) Make Contact, and 3) Help the school implement the program.

This Saturday, September 17th is Constitution Day!
The U. S. Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787 – Constitution Day! Federal law requires public schools to observe that day, but studies show that up to 90 percent of schools ignore the law.
This year as we celebrate the 224th anniversary of the Constitution, take time to read this document, study it with your children, and discuss its great principles.
And by the way, despite the claims of many secularist writers today, the Constitution is not a Godless document. Many of its clauses directly incorporate religious principles, and Founders who wrote and ratified it specifically acknowledged God in its creation:
It is impossible for the man of pious reflection not to perceive in it a finger of that Almighty Hand which has been so frequently and signally extended to our relief in the critical stages of the Revolution. James Madison
For my own part, I sincerely esteem it a system which without the finger of God never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests. Alexander Hamilton
I beg I may not be understood to infer that our general Convention was Divinely inspired when it formed the new federal Constitution . . . yet I must own [admit] I have so much faith in the general government of the world by Providence that I can hardly conceive a transaction of such momentous importance . . . should be suffered to pass without being in some degree influenced, guided, and governed by that omnipotent, omnipresent, and beneficent Ruler in Whom all inferior spirits “live and move and have their being” [Acts 17:28]. Benjamin Franklin
I do not believe that the Constitution was the offspring of inspiration, but I am as perfectly satisfied that the Union of the States in its form and adoption is as much the work of a Divine Providence as any of the miracles recorded in the Old and New Testament. Benjamin Rush

NCCS Announces New American History Textbook:
A Dream Come True: For over thirty years, NCCS has been educating Americans on the Founders’ story of freedom, and particularly on the principles underlying our great Constitution. After doing so for many years, and enjoying teaching seminars to audiences of all ages, I personally had a growing desire to try to get this message to the younger generation, that is, those who mostly would be responsible to fix the mess caused by my generation. In making the attempt, it became clear that it could not happen under the bureaucratically controlled educational system that had developed in every state of this union…

“Passing the Torch” In the words of Abraham Lincoln, the teacher of American history today says to the students in classrooms across this land:
‘In your hands, my young fellow students and citizens, lies the future of our country.’ “If the coming generation is more faithful to the ideals of economy, industry, and honesty; of order, freedom and service than the present generation has been, then we shall be going forward toward the fulfillment of the destinies of the Republic. If the coming generation is even a little less faithful to these ideals, then we shall be headed down the road to degeneracy, defeat, and decay. Could there be a more inspiring task for the youth of our schools than to study America ‘s past policies with understanding and meet her future problems with courage and knowledge? In the ancient Greek games was a relay race in which the runner at the end of his lap handed on the lighted torch to his successor. It is a parable of all education and a symbol of ever-renewing life. The torch of our history was kindled at the sacred altar of liberty by the Founders’ principles, ensuring tomorrow’s promises. Let it be your pledge and mine to bear it well.”
A fulfillment of a desire of George Washington: George Washington stressed the absolute necessity of teaching the younger generation concerning the foundations of our government. Said he:
“A primary object…should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? And what duty more ressing…than…communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?”

Save Our Constitutional RepublicFSM – September 15, 2011 by Bob Smith
// In the sweltering heat of Philadelphia from May 25th to September 17th, 1787, 53 delegates from 12 of the original 13 colonies (Rhode Island refused to send any representatives) struggled mightily to come to an agreement to adopt a Constitution for the United States of America. When it was over, an exhausted Benjamin Franklin walked down the steps of the Pennsylvania State House and was asked, “What kind of government did you create, Mr. Franklin?” To which he replied, “A republic, if we can keep it.”
Are today’s leaders respecting and protecting the Constitution that Franklin and his heroic and patriotic colleagues gave us in 1787? Can we keep it?
This weekend America will celebrate Constitution Day, created to honor the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, by the Constitutional Convention. Monday, September 19, 2011, 6:30 pm: Olean, ny
Cattaraugus County Tea Party Patriots are hosting a forum @ John Ash Senior Center, 112 N Berry St, Olean, NY.
Lisa Thrun AFP-NY will speak about progress with the RGGI Cap & Trade Scheme lawsuit, efforts to gain State legislation on the matter, as well as Local level legislation that seeks the same. Americans for Prosperity joined forces with several upstate New York elected leaders to sound the alarm bell over the job-killing Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) Cap & Trade scheme and other destructive “green” regulations that are threatening the viability of the area’s electricity-producing coal plants and risking thousands of jobs in the region.
The group assembled at a recent press conference at Somerset Town Hall along with a number of AFP activists and Cap & Trade opponents. The group called on Governor Cuomo and state lawmakers to put an end to the RGGI Cap & Trade tax and roll back regulatory mandates which are pushing the area’s seventeen power plants to the brink. Upstate New York’s seventeen power plants represent a workforce of several thousand area residents.
Recently, the town of Somerset, led by Councilman Daniel Engert passed a resolution calling on Governor Cuomo to reevaluate the environmental policies which are hurting the region. “The effects of [the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative] and other policies are hurting businesses, jobs and communities throughout New York State and arguably none greater than right here in the western end in Niagara County,” said Engert. Echoing Councilman Engert’s comments, Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R-139) pointed out that RGGI will heap ten million dollars worth of fees on AES, adding, “…AES and 16 other coal plants are fighting for survival because of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Cap & Trade regulations which are eroding the ability of companies to provide affordable energy and to preserve the job opportunities our communities rely on.”
State Senator George Maziarz (R-62) added that “RGGI was just one of many [mandates] that make New York State unfriendly for businesses here, to open here, to operate here, to employ people.” The senator also expressed disapproval
regarding New York’s participation in RGGI, saying, “It was disappointing that
RGGI was implemented in the State of New York without legislative approval. It
was done by executive fiat of the former governor.” MORE…

Executive committee of Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots passed a motion to endorse Daniel R. Johnson’s candidacy as Republican candidate for Jamestown’s City Council Ward 4 at its Sept. 6 meeting. Johnson, who is running against Vince DeJoy (D), has been endorsed by the Republican Party. He also seeks endorsement from the Conservative Party during the upcoming Conservative Party primary, Sept. 13 at Hillcrest Church, noon to 9 p.m.
Johnson, an honors graduate of JCC, is general manager of LiteHouseAuto in Lakewood, where he oversees daily operation of the dealership, customer service, managing employees and compliance. He is married to the former Emelee Brown. They are the parents of twin 2-year-old daughters. The Johnson family is active in Family Church on Garfield Road in Jamestown.
Johnson espouses conservative policies consistent with the philosophy of Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots. He is for smaller government and lowering taxes. Concerned about Jamestown’s escalating and out-of-control budget, Johnson says that if elected he will vote to block any additional tax increases. He feels that council needs to look for new revenue sources as well as ways to cut spending. Johnson also is concerned that as a nation “we have thrown our moral compass out the window.”

Though due to scheduling conflicts we we’re unable to go through the formal process in time to get out a press release, we are encouraging Conservative voters just the same, and encourage everyone to get the word out, regarding this Tuesday primary. Mark Tarbrake (R) and Pat Tyler (D) will square off tomorrow for the Conservative line in the District 10 Legislature race. District 10 covers a large portion of Ellicott and a portion of Busti.
Since his prior election we are well aware that the 1 term incumbent Mr. Tarbrake stands on conservative principles, which he previously won as the Conservative-republican candidate. We are also well aware of another fact that makes the decision herein quite clear!
His opponent Mr. Tyler is once again running on the misnamed “Working Families Party” line, as are only of couple of other county candidates. In the previous election 2 years ago he also did so along with many other county candidates and at that time we brought to light the far left nature of this so called party. When questioned in 2009, Mr. Tyler’s only defense as to his association with the party was that he was “unaware” of the things they stood for, their nefarious connections, and the many allegations of campaign finance violations against them. This obviously cannot be the case in having accepted their endorsement this time around, and unlike most candidates that chose to stay away from them, Mr Tyler is one of only a few that did not.
The WFP is far left on their positions ranging from economics to social issues, supporting such agenda as Big government, the Welfare state, overreaching and unconstitutional Obamacare, on demand abortion, same sex marriage, social justice as opposed to American jurisprudence, and the list goes on. They have clear and conspicuous connections and often act as a front group for ACORN (now operating under various new names), the Democrat Socialists of America (DSA), and big labor such as the SEIU (who knowingly collects dues and aids and abets illegal aliens), among others.
For the Conservative voter this is an affront to you. The WFP, more than any other major or minor party, is the direct opposite to everything you stand for, and everything that we as a Tea Party movement stands for as well. They are the antithesis to your values, and so the choice is clear.
We made our position quite known regarding this matter both during the previous elections, and in a press release this June that was issued well prior to the dates for filing petitions and for either accepting or declining a party nomination.
His opponent made a choice and now the only principled choice a conservative voter can make is to “Vote Tarbrake”.

Over 3000 days now – since we lost over 3000 people – and no doubt we have shed over 3000 tears – said over 3000 prayers – and have stated our resolve over 3000 times in one way or another. On this 10th anniversary of that fateful day where we continue to face a monumental struggle of humankind, of good vs evil, let us remember all such things, and let us proclaim that this shall not be just a day of mourning and remembrance, but also a day of celebration in spite of those dark forces, and that those perished that day – and in the ensuing conflicts since – have not done so in vain. Yes, there is much to celebrate; the lives that were lived by those who perished, the survival of those who did not, the families and friends of survivors who have found strength from their loss and have done wonderful things for their communities through that strength, and the heroes – so many heroes – countless heroes. And yet there is one more thing to celebrate, as stated, our freedom; that they could not take away, that we continue to be a free people and a beacon of liberty for the world, and that though our lives may have been disrupted, they were not taken over, that we rightfully refuse to run for hills, and that we do not live in fear but rather with resolve and vigilance, that this thing shall be overcome, and goodness shall prevail.
May God justly bless each and every one of you, and may you please share in just a few of the 1000′s of tributes, memorials, and events being held -all in their own unique ways- from “sea to shining sea” this coming 9/11 weekend.

August 29, 2011 E.J. McMahon – The St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators is holding a public hearing today on a proposal to override the state’s new property tax cap as part of the county’s budget. Although the tentative 2012 county budget is not due until Nov. 15, local news reports suggest county officials are getting an early start on the cap-busting process because they are convinced they will need a tax increase well above the levy limit.
For all localities outside New York City, the property tax levy cap is 2 percent, plus allowances for the value of physical additions to the property tax base in the past year and a partial exclusion for taxes necessary to pay rising pension costs. The cap can be overridden pursuant to a separate local law requiring support from at least 60 percent of the county legislators.
Our handy “BenchmarkingNY” tool at www.SeeThroughNY.net shows that St. Lawrence County, which sprawls across part of the northernmost corner of New York, already is among the highest-taxed counties in the state. According to its latest financial disclosure documents, the county tax levy has risen 22 percent in the past two years, after a long period of stability.
Moreover, the county is borrowing money to keep up with its bills this year…
Posted on August 29, 2011 by naplesteapartypatriots - Cities, counties and towns are busily preparing their budgets for next year, and some are threatening to override a new property tax cap that they say could devastate programs and services.
Dealing with a property tax cap is uncharted territory for local governments as they struggle to balance their budgets amid stagnant revenue and increasing costs. They are also grappling with the complexity of the cap and its myriad provisions.
“We don’t know how it will be implemented, and therefore it’s really difficult to say the impact it will have on our budget this year,” said Monroe County spokesman Noah Lebowitz.
There are more than 10,000 taxing entities in New York, including local governments and special taxing districts for lighting, water and sewer services. All have to stay within the cap.
One ambiguity was cleared up Friday: The cap will limit the growth in property taxes to 2 percent in 2012, the Comptroller’s Office confirmed to Gannett’s Albany Bureau.
The property tax cap, hailed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo as a savior for New York’s middle class, is causing confusion and frustration among town officials who say the state has left them without the necessary details to finish their budgets on time.
Meanwhile, at least five counties are considering overriding the cap this year.
The cap is a cornerstone of Cuomo’s record of his first year in office — it was the first bill he introduced — and was pursued because the state has been recognized nationally as having some of the highest property taxes in the country.
The state doesn’t set property taxes, but it can impose a cap, in this case a limit of growth in the property tax levy of 2 percent or the rate of inflation, whichever is lower.
While Cuomo warned that local governments would be opposed to the state’s action to limit their spending power, town and county officials have said that implementing the cap is complicated by state mandates like pension costs, which are only getting more expensive — not spending by their municipalities.

Press Release for 8/23/11 Event
Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots held their monthly meeting Aug 23 at the
Lakewood American Legion, conducted by Spokesman Mel McGinnis.
Members voted upon and passed the following motions:
In other business, McGinnis recalled the words of Beth Powers, founder of Liberty In America: “If the economy crashes our country will survive; but we cannot survive the crash of liberty.” “STTPP’s focus and emphasis,” McGinnis said, “is upon freedom, in contrast to media emphasis on the economy.”
A brief recap was given regarding our previous meeting with We The People Foundation and the Constitution Lobby of NY effort. Those who have not yet joined are encouraged to do so. Since that meeting Iowa’s lobby has become official, and efforts continue to be underway for We the people of: california indiana florida georgia illinois kansas kentucky maryland nebraska north carolina ohio oklahoma oregon pennsylvania rhode island south carolina south dakota texas wisconsin. The issue of illegal immigration was raised with regard to President Obama’s recent de-facto amnesty executive order, deemed by Tea Party coalitions at National and State levels to be an illegal and unconstitutional act. Obama is effectively implementing the DREAM Act although it was defeated in Congress. This has prompted introduction of the HALT Act in congress [more on this in separate post]. A related matter is that of HR 2164 which was a good bill we support with regards to E-verify, however amendments have been attached by pro-amnesty/open border advocates that would interfere with, or outright strip, a state’s ability to implement and enforce E-verify. The Supreme Court recently upheld these State’s rights, so the aforementioned amendments either need stripped from the bill, or the bill needs to be killed altogether. [again look for more on this in a separate post]
The group heard an update on S712-2011, a referendum sponsored by Joe Robach of Rochester. Individual counties would place a non-binding initiative on their county ballot before Dec. 31, 2011 to poll whether citizens would support a division of NY into two separate states. excerpt: Separate and distinct social and political concerns between upstate and downstate prompt the initiative. Currently, there is large support for such a division. [ S712-2011:
Provides for a referendum on the question "Do you support the division of
New York into two separate states? " ]
A member expressed outrage that NY is becoming a socialist state, and that
the county legislature plans to override the two percent cap on property taxes.
Legislator Tami Downey explained the dilemma in which counties find themselves: Albany decreases the amount of money to counties for mandates, forcing counties to raise taxes to cover mandates. Welfare and Medicaid consume 87 percent of the budget. The county already owes $1 million to the state for 2012 Medicaid expenses.
Legislators in Steuben County [stay tuned for more on this] expressed anger regarding the burden placed upon property taxpayers; they want to eliminate Medicaid. Downey urged the group to form a coalition with Steuben County: “Find your power and start using it. Tell Albany to stop stealing our money and giving it to welfare.”
Our next meeting will be Sept 27th.

The Mayor challenged all of us to be as engaged in our Country’s future and committed to preserving our freedoms as those he met at that hospital who had given so much of themselves to defend our County. He highlighted his remarks with the words of the Corporal who escorted him through the hospital and how this member of our military continually referred to him as “Sir.” When Mayor Keeney objected (since he was there as a private citizen not an elected official) and asked to be called by his first name, the Corporal insisted that he show the respect of using “Sir.” The Corporal then volunteered that he would rather escort 5,000 ordinary citizens than any of the Congressional leaders who toured the hospital, because he (the Corporal) believed it was the commitment of every day ordinary Americans that made the military men and women’s service worthwhile. That was a fitting start to a day committed to calling for just that type of engagement by those who attended the rally.
In preparation for my remarks, I completed some significant research on some National issues, and statewide matters. What became clear to me was that it is truly the “ordinary citizens” like the members of T.A.R.A. and the Tea Party Patriots, and the vast majority of hard working Americans, who may not be a member of a specific group but are concerned about where we are and where we are headed, that can and should be engaged in the discussions impacting on the future of our Country and State.
A statement like this could set the “mainstream” media and bloggers into a frothing, texting, and keyboarding fit trying to attach some dark and foreboding meaning, attempting to make a case that I am some “right wing nut case” like
happens all too often when people talk about Liberty and Freedom. But here are
a few of the remarks I made and the research that it was based upon.
I congratulated those in attendance and thanked them for their involvement and commitment and told them that Edmund Burke, Irish Statesman, Member of the British Parliament, and supporter of the American Revolution would be proud of them since he is credited with saying, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (I added ‘and women’) to do nothing.” By being involved, asking questions, studying the Constitution of the United States and calling for a restoration of liberty, they were engaging in the public discourse that was a foundational principal of our Country. It is through the efforts of the citizens of our United States that our Country was first created and has been able to be a model for other Counties around the world. However, I also expressed my concerns about the increasing efforts to expand even larger the size and scope of Government at the National and State level.
I cited the recent George Mason University biannual “Freedom in the 50 States” report where New York State was ranked dead last. Our State was ranked as the least free state in the Country because it has the lowest rated economic freedom and the third lowest rated personal freedom compared to all other states. NY was identified as having the highest taxes in the nation, with above average property, selective sales, individual income, and corporate tax rates. Add to this State government spending on “public welfare, hospitals, electric power, transit, and
employee retirement” at well above national averages, it is no surprise that our State also has the second greatest debt as a percentage of the state’s economy. Combine this with significant and increasing efforts to restrict personal liberty by the state and New York earned the “top” rating for restricting personal freedom, not a ranking anyone would be proud of.
After making other observations and encouragements I concluded by calling for everyone to become engaged in this defense of our Constitution where we were granted and assured the rights to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and that to secure these rights, governments are instituted by men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…” I highlighted that it is only through our “consent” that government takes action or withholds action and without our consent no decisions can or should be made. However only through our active participation and communication will those who lead us at the State and National level be forced to acknowledge the need for our consent.
Whether or not you are a member of these citizen groups, or you believe
in their stand on issues or not, we all could follow their examples by investing more of ourselves in the review of the operations of the governments that impact our lives. It is never a bad thing to spend some time reading and re-reading the documents that are at the foundation of our Country, the Constitution of the United States, and the Declaration of Independence.

For Immediate Release: 7/26/11 Constitution Lobby Meeting Recap
Thomas Jefferson’s words formed the basis of a presentation by Robert Schulz and Judith Whitmore to Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots at its July 26 monthly meeting at the Lakewood American Legion:
“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”
The group learned that our state and nation are in a time of tyranny because government is violating our Constitutions. Under the first amendment of the Bill of Rights, citizens have the right and obligation “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” If government doesn’t respond, citizens have the right to peaceful enforcement. According to Schulz and Whitmore, however, government no longer listens, our state and nation are in a state of disorder, and we are losing our way as well as our identity. The original charters of freedom are being attacked and eroded, making it difficult for individuals and small groups to prevail against these assaults on our founding charters and freedoms.
Schulz and Whitmore are traveling New York State to present their case for formation of The Constitution Lobby of New York. Schulz, Founder and Chairman of We The People Foundation for Constitutional Education and We The People Congress, has been working for more than three decades to defend both the NY and federal Constitutions. Whitmore is founder of Stand Up and Sing for America.
“The Constitution no longer can defend itself,” said Schulz. “We need an organization that focuses only on what government is doing and compare its actions with fundamental documents.” He was referring to the Declaration of Independence, the NY State (see below) and Federal Constitutions, and the Bill of Rights. The goal of the non-political Constitution Lobby of New York is to institutionalize citizen vigilance—of the people, by the people, and for the people—for the purpose of defending our State and Federal Constitutions and the Rule of Law, holding elected officials accountable at every level in our state. In order to accomplish the goal, the group learned that five percent or 800,000 residents of New York need to be enrolled as dues-paying members. Schulz feels the time is ripe for a Constitution lobby: “We need to get the government fearing the people.”
The STTPP strongly encouraged the 70 or so members that attended to join the WTP effort, and we urge those who were unable to attend to get familiar with and join this effort as well. Follow the link below to do so today:
