Thousands of Iraqi Civilians Killed...

* A new study has revealed that thousands of Iraqi civilians may have been murdered by both American troops and American contracters. What has my country become? Are we becoming as bad as the terrorists that we seek to destroy? Is it any wonder that 90% of Iraqis view us as hostile occupiers rather than liberators? Does this explain the insurgency?

* A former Nuremburg prosecutor has now said that both Bush and Cheney are just as guility as Saddam of war crimes. Here is the full story:

http://us.oneworld.net/article/view/138319/1

As the article says, Bush refused to join the International Criminal Court and now new legislation gives him the authority to invade the Netherlands (!) should any American be held on war crimes there...once again, what have we become?

* The "grateful hurricane victim" that Bush had a photo-op with is now revealed as a Republican operative and an amateur actor hired by the White House! More fakery from the fake President.

Handy-Dandy English to Conservative Dictionary...

Run your mouse over the headline to see the translation to conservative-speak:

Two men were removed from a plane due to the dastardly crime of...oh my...speaking Arabic!

Bush gave a press conference this morning. Nothing new but he was more surly:

Bush Probably Broke 26 Laws...

* Of course, the MSM saturated us with coverage about the Ramseys and ignored a Congressional report that found Bush and his Admin. most likely broke 26 laws. The laws are too complicated to go into here at this blog but a full report may be found here:
http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/iraqrept2/section1.pdf

* A brief conversation about French Existentialism? Tony Snow said that he and Bush had a brief conversation about French existentialism. When pressed for details, he said it was private. Right. We discussed French existentialism in my European History class and that took ALL semester! NO ONE can have a "brief" conversation about French existentialism.Although, now that Bush is done with "The Stranger," he might consider, "The Myth of Sisyphus."Camus asks the question here whether we are free agents with souls or are just matter that moves about with mindless regularity. I think Bush fits the latter...

* We all know smoking is unhealthy. But last night, a court found that tobacco companies deliberately destroyed evidence for decades that showed smoking was addictive as well; more addictive than even herion. The movie, "The Insider," gives a great background of this decades-long case.

* Security moms are wising up to Bush. They know Bush is manipulating their fears. Security moms supported Bush in droves not too long ago. Now, they are abandoning him in droves.

Judge Says "NO" To Spying...

* A federal judge has ruled that the Bush Admin. must stop the warrentless spying. The Bush Admin. argued that the spying was necessary in order to protect national security but to prove that, it would require revealing state secrets. However, the judge pointed out the program was mentioned on the White House's OWN website not too long after 9-11. FISA, a court that approves warrants for spying, has worked well for decades. Very few requests are turned down. This is the second time that actions by this Admin. have been ruled illegal. Suprisingly, the Supreme Court itself ruled that indefinite detentions are illegal and the President has NO authority to call single-handedly anyone an "enemy combatant" as he did with Jose Padilla. This is amazing. Clinton gets impeached for lying about sex. Bush grossly violates human rights and "it's all okay." Sickening...

* Lebanon sent its offical troops as a buffer to stand between Israel and Hizbelloh as Israel pulled back. It's a shaky peace, currently, but at least it is still a peace.

* A CIA agent was found guilty of beating a detainee to death with a heavy flashlight. However, he was only charged with manslaughter rather than murder. With the horrible rapes and murders of Iraqi civilians, torture of detainees in all American prison camps, and the enormous civilian death toll in Iraq (3000 died in July alone), is it any wonder that they hate us? Bush's war has increased our risk of terrorism rather than make us safer.

* On the London terror plot, Bush claims this proves that he strong on defense. What he neglects to mention is that Bush actually stopped an R & D program in detecting liquid explosives.
He also neglected to mention that British authorities had asked the Bush Admin. to keep an lid on the investigation as not all arrests had been made yet. The Bush Admin. insisted on making it public, the DAY AFTER Lamont's win. British authorities relented. Since not all suspects had been arrested, it is possible that Bush might actually have endangered us rather than keeping us safe. But will Americans see that?

* Enough about the Ramseys! We've heard more about the Ramseys in the past 12 hours than we have about Iraq ALL YEAR!

* Finally, you would think, the son of an former President beating a Lieberman-clone would be BIG news. But it is not. Jack Carter, son of Jimmy, won the Nevada primary for Senate ousting the Lieberman-clone incumbent.

It's Time To Scare People Again...

* The British Parliment had an upcoming vote on No-Conifidence for Tony Blair. Lieberman lost yesterday, dealing a blow to Republicans. So, it must be time to scare people again. British authorities have arrested 21 people in alleged plot to bring liquid explosives aboard planes. Homeland Security has raised the terror alert to Code Red. But if it is that serious, why haven't any Amercian planes been grounded? Also, the Bush Admin. says it has known about this plot for a week. So, why didn't they raise the terror alert back then? There are too many unanswered questions. This may be tin-foil but I think the Bush Admin. just wants to scare people into supporting them again after so many failed policies.

* Prime Minister Sinouri, of Lebanon, has asked Bill Clinton to step in and to help negotiate a peace between Hizbelloh and Israel. Clinton has indicated that he is open to the idea; however so must be Bush and the State Department. We'll see what develops.

Bye, Bye, Joe...

* Joe Lieberman lost the CT primary. This sends a strong message to the Republicans that their seats are very much in jeopardy. Yes. Lieberman was a Democrat but he was a DINO. He has now, like a crybaby, vowed to run as an independent. He'll never win.

* Huh? I thought only Congress could draft Amendments. Well, Bush did say the Constituition was just a ******* piece of paper. Anyway, the Amendments to the War Crimes Act would prevent certain high-level officials from being prosecuted if they torture detainees. What happened to our America? Suddenly, torture has become acceptable. But it should never be acceptable. Sociologists and psychologists are 100% in agreement that torture is never an effective way of gathering information. Often, it creates a threat of terrorism and endangers our own soldiers who may be captured by the enemy. The U.S. should set an example.

* Meanwhile, the insanity continues in the Mideast. How can the Bush. Admin. hope to be taken seriously in negotiating peace there while at the same time, they are dropping bombs on Iraq? It is no wonder Condaleeza Rice is frustrated with Bush.
Anyway, bear with me for a minute. Imagine this: You have no food. You have no medicine. You have a family and your youngest child is very ill. Your child could die without medicine. Your family has not eaten in several days. Suddenly, someone shows up at your doorstep with enough food and medicine to last a year. Unfortunately, that person happens to be a member of Hizbelloh. Hizbelloh has a very large social network. If it weren't for the killings, it would be very similar to LBJ's Great Society. But the poor in Lebanon support Hizbelloh, not because of any hatred for Israel, but because they do what they can to survive. Well, they didn't hate Israel until Israel started killing some of them. Hizbelloh has set up refugee camps as well. If Israel really wanted to destroy Hizbelloh, they'd drop food and medicine packets into the impoverished areas of Lebanon rather than bombs. The killing of innocent civilians only serves to birth terrorism. BOTH Hizbelloh and Israel are wrong in this fight. No one will win but both Israeli and Lebanese civilians will lose. It is unconciousable that both appear to be targetting civilians.

* Just in: It's official. Lieberman has just filed to run as an independent. I think it's still Bye, Bye, Joe.

Pat's Pointifications...

Welcome. This is a unique kind of blog with brief comments on headlines of the day.

* Israel and Hizbelloh: The insanity continues. But poor Lebanon, the official state, who originally bore no animosty toward Israel and was actually pro-American and an infant Democracy, has borne the brunt of the wanton killings and destruction of the country. It is no wonder that their Prime Minister was in tears yesterday...

* Lieberman: Today is the benchmark moment. If Lieberman loses, it will cause Republicans to be very worried about their seats. It was amazing seeing Lieberman tell falsehoods on last night's "Nightline." He claimed that he ran against Bush (no, it was Cheney) and then he does not support Bush at all.

* DeLay: Will wonders never cease? Justice Scalia has refused to hear the DeLay case. That means DeLay's name must stay on the ballot. I am stunned. I was sure Scalia was going to rule in favor of DeLay.

* Iraq Rape and Murder Case: The Prime Minister of Iraq wanted these soilders, accused of murdering an innocent Iraqi family and raping the women many times before they killed them, wants their trial to be held there. But the Bush Admin. has refused. I guess a crime committed by foreigners to people in their own land does not qualify for that land to hold the trial.

* Motives of Insurgency: The media misleads us. Most insurgents are not terrorists but view us as hostile occupiers. With the torture, rape, and murder, not to mention a huge multi-billion dollar military base being built there, they are quite close to being right. When you kill innocent civilians (so far, tens of thousands at the very least) and build well-to-do military bases in impoverished areas and award no-bid contracts to American companies such as Haliburton, which takes jobs away from ordinary Iraqis, these actions do indeed sow the seeds of terrorism. The Iraq War has created a bigger threat of terrorism than ever before and unfortunately, many people are too blinded by their own false sense of patrotism to see this. Also, isn't it interesting how conservatives rail against the perception that immigrants are taking away American jobs but have no problems with Americans taking away jobs from Iraqis in their own country?
