L4D2 Campaigns For Halloween Zombie-Slaying

What could be better than killing massive hordes of zombies with 3 of your friends on the weekend before Halloween? Taking those zombies and your 3 friends then throwing them into custom-made campaigns that are so well-done that even Valve would be impressed.

Warcelona (by Warcelona Team): Based off the city of Barcelona in Spain, this campaign presents an intense struggle for survival while giving an ominous yet gorgeous backdrop for players to enjoy. The environments are very similar to that of the actual city save for a few artistic licensing differences to make sure the gameplay stays varied and fun.

Suicide Blitz 2 (by R.T. Frisk): Play as four new survivors in this well-done city fictional city campaign that will have you take down Tanks dressed up as football players, discover Portal 2 easter eggs and more. Scary Minecraft Textures

If a video game has enough of a following to hold a convention, it has definitely reached a certain level of popularity. If my mom has heard of the game, then it has just about reached the pinnacle of video game popularity. Minecraft is one of these games. I don’t play it, but it seems that just about everyone and their mother (pun intended) love it. In the spirit of Halloween, here are some spooky Minecraft mods for all of you creepers.

ZoDDcraft by OmniZodd ZoDDcraft is a customized texture pack created by OmniZodd for his own enjoyment. The texture pack is designed to give the world of Minecraft a darker and more Gothic feel. OmniZodd has definitely gotten into the spirit of Halloween and provides frequent updates for his awesome texture pack. For instance, he plans to release Lovecraftian-themed villagers in the near future. Keep an eye on this mod as it is constantly improving.

Lovecraft by TROGRAFX This mod, by TROGRAFX, is inspired by the xenophobic writings of the infamous H.P. Lovecraft. Mobs have been altered to create a more Lovecraftian feel, and the world textures are much darker and more mysterious. If you find yourself drawn to the tentacle deity Cthulhu and the other Elder Gods, this may be the mod for you!

Deadcraft by Midnight_Wombat Dead Space + Minecraft = Deadcraft. If math were this easy, I wouldn’t have gotten failing grades in high school. If you keep up with my blogs, you know that I more or less refuse to play Dead Space. I am sorry, but that crap is just too freaking scary. I’ve watched the beginning of Dead Space 2, and I swear to you I would probably not be able to even pass that. At any rate, this texture pack adds creepy Dead Space-esque containment rooms and other bloody funsies to Minecraft. Midnight_Wombat’s pack is both cute and disturbing, which is pretty awesome if you ask me!

Creepycraft by Gotheredsox CreepyCraft is just what it sounds like – a grouping of a bunch of miscellaneous horror things thrown into Minecraft. This pack allows you to mine with murder weapons (admittedly a pickaxe could probably be used as a murder weapon), traipse through guts, and partake in a slew of other creepy if not marginally gross activities. Essentially, this is the perfect Halloween makeover for Minecraft.

Horror Mods in the Spirit of Halloween

October is here, and that only means one thing – spooky, scary mods! Realistically, October means many things: 30 days of Hallloween programming specials, slutty costumes, and pumpkin seeds! At least that is what I think of when the month of October rolls around. In this FileBlog, you will find an assortment of creepy mods for both scary and non-scary games.

White Night by Tanshaydar Tanshaydar’s White Night is a custom campaign for Amnesia: the Dark Descent. 10 months in the making, White Night has a lot of potential for being one of the strongest Amnesia campaign mods. In White Night, you assume the role of a character that has no memory and has just woken up in a hospital. White Night is designed to tell an intricate story rather than deliver scares, but it still meets my criteria for a spooky mod. Please note that in order to experience White Night, you must have Justine installed in addition to Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Flesh by Flesh HL2 Development Group Frankly, I think Half Life II is scary enough on its own. Apparently, the programmers behind Flesh for Half Life II disagree. This mod claims to be “pure survival horror.” There are no weapons, and there is no fighting. The mod consists of five levels which emphasize critical thinking skills and puzzle solving. With its own soundtrack and voice acting, Flesh boasts some extremely high production values. Give it a try!

The Fly by Titobruni The Fly: room escape from Silent Hill is an extremely unusual idea for a Gears of War mod. This mod is heavily inspired by Silent Hill (as evidenced by the title), and other horror series. In this mod, your goal is to escape the room you find yourself trapped in. Titobruni, the mod’s creator, refers to The Fly as “survival room escape.” Give this gem a try!

Haunted House by Kane1045 I’ve mentioned before that The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion scares me. It is a first-person adventure game with scary monsters. That is more than enough to scare me. Haunted House by Kane1045, purposefully makes Oblivion even scarier than it already was. Your character is given a map which directs them to an old manor. Shortly after entering the residence, paranormal phenomenon occur. This mod is unique in that it focuses a lot more on problem solving than solving problems through bashing enemies.

Monday Mod: Terraria – Terrafirma

Terraria has a lot of features for players to enjoy but one feature it lacks is a map. Without a map it’s very easy to forget the scale of your world and keeping track of any findings from exploration becomes very challenging. With our Monday Mod this issue will be resolved, allowing for an easier way to keep track of your world as you focus on digging your way to the Hell zone.

Terrafirma is a third-party mapping tool that generates your entire Terraria world into a map which can be viewed on a separate window. You are able to zoom in/out, view details of specific content such as chests or minerals and keep track of any important locale you may have found. You can also save your map as a .png file allowing you to permanently store it for future use.
