Comparison of 8th District GOP field

Rebublicans are lining up to challenge Congressman Larry Kissell in the newly redrawn 8th Congressional District.  Despite his conservative leanings, the gerrymandered districts drawn by the Republican legislature will make it more difficult for Kissell to win reelection.

The following is a cursory glance at the candidates who have declared their intentions  to run in North Carolina's 8th District.  Stu Rothenberg has said it would take a miracle for Kissell to win.  So folks....which one do you want in Washington in his place?

NC GOP logical fallacy roundup

Republican Ruth Samuelson sets a new record for fallacious arguments in favor of Voter ID:

Just this year, seven other states enacted voter ID laws to enhance confidence in their electoral process. Voters in Mississippi will be deciding on a referendum that would make a voter ID requirement part of their state constitution.

This is a fallacy known as Appeal to Common Practice, to which NC Republicans seem to be especially vulnerable:

Herman Cain just robo-called me

And just in case you're wondering, he's just as much of an asshole on the phone as he is in his campaign commercials.

Whatever your opinion about the politics of fracking, the science is clear. Like every other human activity throughout history, fracking comes with risks.

As things currently stand in North Carolina, the risks of fracking rest on four stakeholder groups. Companies investing to make money, landowners selling rights, neighbors affected by contamination, and taxpayers at large. Some pretend that the risks and benefits are fairly distributed, which of course they are not. In any case, courts will be the final arbiters.

Goolsby tries to jump on Iron Man 3 bandwagon

Creating a fictional character who supports film incentives to fill out the cast of this latest GOP fantasy film:

"There is no better place for this project than Wilmington, and for months I've worked with colleagues in the N.C. Senate and the executive branch to bring it here," the Republican senator from Wilmington said in a prepared statement released by the staff of Senate Leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham.

Apparently he was wearing one of those LOTR Lothlórien elven cloaks, since nobody actually saw him doing all this film promoting:

Cement Sector Regulatory Relief Act of 2011

Once again I have that "where was I and was I asleep or what?"
This POS bill passed Oct.6 2011. Kissell is listed as one of the cosponsors.
What is wrong with these reps? Are they retarded or corrupted?
Most of these pinheads would outlaw abortion but apparently don't give a damn about mercury and birth defects.

The tags should be 'completely frustrated, can't take it anymore and goin' nuts'...

Double Speaker Tillis caught red handed by Policy Watch

Progressive Pulse by Chris Fitzsimon

"Here is the most interesting exchange after yesterday’s hearing about the shortfall in state Medicaid funding that may result in seniors and people with disabilities losing important medical services.

House Speaker Thom Tillis says the Republicans had no idea that their budget was counting on savings in Medicaid that were unrealistic. At least that’s what he told Laura Leslie with WRAL-TV ..."
