Seems like Utahns go out of their way to mangle names, doesn't it?
Tooo-ellah and Sah-lye-nah ... those always crack me up (yes I am easily amused)!
But I have to correct one ... the local (mis)pronunciation of Hurricane is Hurr-cunn ... after awhile you get so used to it, it seems odd to hear meteorologists on TV.
what's so strange about those?!? If you live there you don't notice how ridiculous sounding the names of places are in Utah but when you move away...wow what a blow-back!
I am a self-published writer of short stories, poetry, and politics who lives a writer's life in a secluded studio at the back of my property in Salt Lake City's 9th & 9th neighborhood. A feminist and rescuer of underdogs and stray cats, I believe the personal is political, everything is political—especially sex and religion.

Sad, I've been to most of those towns. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
