And you can get the job done with a crowbar! From Sean Caranna on Facebook regarding HB45 (the crown jewel of laws passed!)

I just got off the phone with Commissioners from Clay County.

Two of them went out to the building entrance with a wrench and a crowbar and ripped down the "No Guns" signs posted on the County Admin Building.

It's great when you have local leaders who are willing to work with you to address problems.

Great job, Sean.

And the hammer drops

House Republicans are going to call for a special counsel to determine whether Attorney General Holder perjured himself during his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on Operation Fast and Furious, Fox News has learned.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, is sending a letter to President Obama arguing that Holder cannot investigate himself and will request a probe by a special counsel.

Will the GOP roll with this? Hard to tell. I’ve seen stiffer spines in earthworms. Issa has been champing at the bit for this for a long time, so let’s hope his tenaciousness pays off.

If you take off all your political blinders, what has happened here is that our government has clearly attempted to push more American guns into Mexico in a ploy to pin any murders performed with said weaponry on Americans and thus justifying stricter gun control. They were caught with their tactical-thigh-rigs on the ground and are now trying desperately to hide a scandal that has resulted in numerous deaths, including American citizens. Had this happened under Bush’s watch, I’d be screaming just as loudly for heads to roll as I am now.

When Obama told gun control groups he had something going on under the radar, I believe Fast & Furious was what he was talking about.

And they pull your Monday Night Football intro

In an interview Monday morning on Fox News' ''Fox & Friends,'' Williams, unprompted, said of Obama's outing on the links with House Speaker John Boehner: ''It'd be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.''

''While Hank Williams Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to 'Monday Night Football,''' the network said in a statement. ''We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight's telecast.''

Why do I have a feeling the whole Bushitler meme went down the memory hole with these people?

As a side note, since many people become morons when it comes down to politics and fail to read or even attempt to discern intent, I do not equate Obama to Hitler. I find the comparison lame since it invokes Godwin’s law from the get go.Regardless, if ESPN fired everyone who ever spoke in such terms regarding the previous occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, they’d probably have a skeleton crew that consists of two janitors and the AV guy who was too busy playing EVE Online to bother with politics.

Sean had this pathetic email from North Carolinians Against Gun Violence and this part really pisses me off

Through Minutes Matter we can do something; we can save our state's youth by preventing firearm suicide attempts.

Kid OD’s on prescription drugs? No concern of theirs. A child slits their wrist? Not their problem. Your teenager hangs themselves after being bullied? Shrug.

These people are so bigoted they could care less about any statistic that doesn’t push their agenda. They focus on the deodand and its magical, mind controlling powers versus the real issues. Solving violence or suicide isn’t done by restricting tools, it’s done well before that stage is ever reached. It’s also difficult and requires much more effort than pointing to the pill box, razor blades, or rope and blaming them. It would be just as stupid as trying to prevent gun violence by waiting until the criminal is at the cash register.

Oh… wait…

I just play one on the Interweb Tubes. So, having said that, I’m calling this one a “Complete Frickin’ Loss”

Now that I have an entire month to stew over my mistake at the USPSA shoot, it also means I have a month to learn from what I did wrong. Here’s an illustration of what happened.

My boo boo illustrated

This is halfway through the stage. I started out on the lower left with a wall that made me run to the right to engage a target. There was a ‘hallway’ to my left as I ran and I focused on the target on the upper left rather than remembering there was a gap in the wall through which to engage the two targets on the right. I shot the target at the end of the run, started to move toward the next lane and saw the targets I missed behind the wall, turned, and shot, clearly breaking the 180°.

First and foremost was my situational awareness. That was dumb. I knew I had screwed up because I realized trying to take the second, further target was impossible without possibly plugging the people walking behind me and pasting targets. There is no excuse for this. There is, however, the newness of the game to me which hopefully becomes more ingrained as I get into this.

The second problem was the running. I don’t need to run, I need to saunter. I’m going to be battling for dead last for a few months, I need to get over it and just accept it. Until I get comfortable with this whole deal, I’m not going to beat the grandmasters or even the D-class people. Rushing through, I missed some targets. Had I moved at the speed I should have, I would have not focused so hard on ‘getting through’ and probably not have missed the window.

Which brings up item # 3 – visualization. I am going to complain that the walkthroughs were not exactly thorough although again, the blame lies with me for not raising my hand and saying ‘I don’t understand the course of fire’. It’s intimidating having 50+ people trying to walk through the course at the same time, many of them Open class A people who are pros at this stuff. However, I need to come up with a better system of recalling where these targets are before I go through. I was 3rd in line (mistakenly called 2nd) so I didn’t get a chance to tape any targets and thus was shorted a few more times to walk through. I should request being put further down the list next time.

All in all, I’ll accept my quasi-DQ* with a bit of shame and chalk it up to a learning experience (*looking at the scores, they didn’t mark me as DQ, just a 0%) and do better next month.
