Still, now that a lowly neutrino has succeeded in surpassing the speed of light ("Perhaps, maybe... what?" - statement from CERN), I'm partially convinced that my university classes will be filled with nought but tumbleweeds where professors once stood. At least their handwriting will be slightly more legible.
By the way, if you've thought of any more questions you'd like me to ask Valve about CS: GO, there is still time. Marginal time - but time nonetheless. Fire away! With haste.
Let's watch a penguin.

Paradox Interactive today announced details surrounding the first in a new series of live stream demos that will allow players to get a look behind the scenes into the progress being made on the company’s forthcoming titles. The first game to be featured will be Salem, the highly anticipated MMORPG being created by Seatribe that is due to release in Q2, 2012. A live demo of the game will be broadcast over the internet on Tuesday, September 27th, at 3PM EST via the Official Paradox Interactive Channel on Justin.tv and Twitch.tv at: http://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive ."Our players have asked for more info, more access and a greater view into how our title line-up is coming along,” said Gordon Van Dyke, producer at Paradox Interactive. “We’ve found a way to bring our community deeper into the process through live streaming demos, show off our progress and give our fans and players the chance to ask about how things are developing.”
About Salem
Set in a fantastical New England, Salem offers free form Massively Multiplayer gameplay in a persistent, ever-changing, online world. Players take the roles of intrepid colonists from the Old World seeking to make lives for themselves in the New. The colonists are able to use a unique crafting, farming and building system inspired by 17th century alchemy.
Although Salem takes place in a light-hearted gothic setting with a charming and cute art-style, there is also open Player-versus-Player combat complete with permadeath and inheritance. Players will also experience a mysterious darker side to the world with creatures based off actual colonist folklore like Squonks, Hidebehinds and of course witches in an open sand box world.
Features:
- Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game
- Persistent and mutable world
- Crafting, farming and building
- Open PvP combat with permanent death
- Free-to-play
I can’t wait to be falsely accused of witchcraft, refuse to confess, and then get crushed to death by stone weights in an attempt to coerce a confession out of me. Then my accuser will doubtlessly receive the prosperous farm I’ve just spent months creating. Wait a second…. I should do the accusing! That’d be a lot more fun.
While this news might not be a complete surprise, I know that many of you were hopeful that Diablo III would ship this year. We were too. However, this week we pulled together people from all of the teams involved with the game to decide whether we felt it would be ready before the end of December, and we grudgingly came to the conclusion that it would not. Ultimately, we feel that to deliver an awesome Diablo sequel that lives up to our expectations and yours as well, we should take a little more time and add further polish to a few different elements of the game.
Moon features all-new weapons, futuristic gear and hordes of low-gravity loving undead, delivering Black Ops' deepest and most intense Zombies experience yet. Meanwhile, strengthened with the firepower and visual splendor of Black Ops, players can relive the nightmare of "Nacht der Üntoten," escape the zombie madness in the asylum of "Verrückt," battle back the undead Imperial Army of "Shi No Numa," and pull the plug on "Der Riese," the zombie factory that started it all."The enthusiasm of our incredibly loyal Zombies community is infectious," said Treyarch Studio Head, Mark Lamia. "With Rezurrection, we are delivering to our fans the most comprehensive Zombies content package so far, with four critically acclaimed Zombies experiences, plus our latest creation Moon, the biggest and most elaborate Zombies adventure yet."
For our fans who purchased the Black Ops Hardened or Prestige Editions for the PlayStation 3 system, and have already downloaded the Classic Zombies Pack with re-mastered maps, Rezurrection can be downloaded via the in-game store or through the PlayStation®Store for free. This includes Moon, the Zombies Soundtrack and the Moon Theme.
Treyarch is also delighted to announce that they have once again partnered with hardcore Call of Duty fans and rock superstars, Avenged Sevenfold, featuring their classic track, Nightmare, in Rezurrection's Moon level.
To mark the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection on the PlayStation 3 system and Windows PC , the team will host Double XP from Friday, September 23rd through Monday, September 26th.
Our original plan was to spend the next year or so in beta, adding new features and slowly growing the number of heroes until we reached a level of parity with Dota 1, at which point we’d release Dota 2 to the world. But the feedback we’re seeing everywhere is that people just want to play it, even though there’s still a ton of heroes yet to be implemented. We’ve also seen that the folks who are already in the beta are chomping at the bit to show everyone else some of the fun games they’ve had. So we decided our original plan was dumb.Welcome to the new plan: We’re going to take the current version of Dota 2, which has The International set of heroes, and get it out there as fast as we can. We’ve still got some work to do in a couple of areas, so we’ll be keeping it invite-only for a (hopefully short) period of time. But there’ll be no restrictions on what players can do with it – they can release screenshots, make movies, shoutcast matches, write guides, publicly make fun of our HUD, or anything else their hearts desire. While they do that, we’ll be shipping regular updates with more heroes, new features we’ve been working on, and improvements on the existing content as we get more and more feedback.
What does this mean for you? It means it’s even more important that get on the list that we’ll be inviting from. If you’re talented, you could take a shot at winning an invite in the GosuGamers competition or the Playdota contest. Once you’ve got your hands on the game, feel free to talk about it however you’d like – we’re excited to see what you’ll produce.
Are any of you guys excited about this? If you are in, or get in the beta, please let us know what you think.
Before I succumb to the toxins exploring the nooks and crannies of my system I've got five Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection PC keys to giveaway. So here's how to enter - post a comment in this thread, then send an email to ohmwrecker[at]ve3d.com with your VE username. Sometime tomorrow afternoon I'll pull five winners at random. Sound good?
In other news, my attempts to score a Dota 2 key continue to fail. Gmoist is going to have a story up in a bit on the NDA lift that was just announced, so you'll be seeing a bunch of media for it soon. Dota pro team "Dirty Minds" already have a active stream going, check it out if you've got some time to spare. Of course whenever we get access we'll contribute, so please make it happen GabeN. I just wanna play video games!
