The Diablo franchise has been without a new entry since 2001 when Lord of Destruction, the expansion pack to Diablo II was released. In the decade since, the name Diablo still gets tossed around with regularity for good reason: no loot-driven action-role-playing games have really managed to knock Diablo II completely off its perch. Maybe Diablo III will finally change that, unless Runic's Torchlight II beats it to the task.
Closed beta invites for Diablo III were recently sent out, and many in the IGN offices have been obsessing over the game ever since. IGN's Anthony Gallegos, Nick Kolan and I sat down and recorded a full playthrough of the beta from beginning to end, as well as highlighted all the classes and the Auction House. We used the Wizard and Witch Doctor in the full playthrough, and recorded spotlight videos for the Barbarian, Monk and Demon Hunter.
