This fall promises to deliver one of the biggest, most wallet decapitating seasons in the history of games, with dozens of blockbuster titles hitting across the board. Practically every developer from Ubisoft to Epic Games is bringing their grand new creations to the table, but like every great inventor, even their greatest invention has been preceded by a bizarre or truly bad one. Before inventing light bulbs, record players and video cameras, Thomas Edison probably designed a prototype whoopee cushion/Snuggie hybrid that cost an actual arm and a leg. Before inventing time, space, math and hilarious dorm room posters, Albert Einstein probably invented jean shorts. You get the point. Your favorite video game developers weren't always brilliant geniuses; they also had some awkward high school years. Now let's take a trip through time!*

Indiana Jack
That's Indiana Jack, an island adventure game that definitely was NOT teased on the Internet by a jaw-dropping cinematic trailer. And that's not because the Internet wasn't ready for jaw-dropping cinematic trailers in 2003 (they took a few more minutes to get to the jaw-dropping part) but more because third-person action games starring monkeys wearing backpacks and corrective sunglasses just weren't that hot in the street that year. Or any year, really. So what did these guys do instead of making a sequel (thank God)?
