HOW DID I MISS THIS MOVIE????

For the Boys, made in 1991 starring Bette Midler and James Caan,,,yes, I'm sure most everyone has seen it,,,that is except me until tonight!

Now that all the grandkiddies have gone home and I rattle around in this house by myself all day with nothing to do (their words not mine!) I guess I can catch up on the last 10 or 15 years of movies I've missed!!

My Oldest Friend

Who is your oldest friend?

No, I don't mean who is your eldest friend, but who have you known the longest in your life? (not counting family).

LeRoy Latham and I go waaaaay back! 

I tried early in my life to teach him how to drive but he just never could get the hang of it!

I'm the eldest of the pair by 6 months,,,,yes that means he has a birthday coming up soon!

We grew up almost as brother and sister. There was the camaraderie of a 'pal' and the competitiveness of a sibling. 

Is there someone you've known all your life?

Reach out and tell them hello, give them a hug (it can be a virtual hug if you aren't close) and wish them luck in the next year.

Found it on the front porch this morning,,,DEAD thank goodness! It sure is ugly!!!!!

 

Adventures in Eating!

Yesterday my granddaughter Katie and her BFF Myla arrived for a two week visit.  

We stopped at a local Japanese restaurant on the way home from the airport for dinner. Neither girls had ever used chopsticks as a mode of 'stuffing their face'.

Myla had ordered miso soup and I tried to capture her first taste.  Has anyone ever heard of the taste being described as 'some kind of shoe fungus'??? Those were her first words after a tiny sip!

Good Eatin'

I planted two little tomato plants this spring, hoping to get a few tomatoes for the table.  Little did I know that Texas would have the worst drought in 50 years and I would have to baby the plants to even get them to live!

The plants have not only survived but surpassed expectations! We have been eating (and enjoying)  tomatoes for a few weeks. We've even had enough to share with the neighbors! 

This morning I picked quite a few tomatoes from one plant.

This evening we enjoyed our Bruschetta for dinner!  

Mavericks become Ohioans!

The Governor of Ohio today declared the Dallas Mavericks honorary Ohioans. 

I believe the city of Cleveland was almost as delighted as Dallas over their win!!
