Last month we reported that Diane Donohue, the outgoing president of the Delaware State Education Association, had verbally accepted a job offer from the state Department of Education.
At the time the job paperwork was not finalized, so no salary was available. That’s done now.
Donohue will earn $91,992.68 a year in the newly created job of “Special Assistant for Educator Effectiveness.”She will help the state move forward with its new teacher evaluation system, due to start next school year. Her salary was set based on her years experience and education
This is an appointed job so Donohue serves “at the pleasure” of the secretary of education. Each state agency in the state gets a certain amount of money for these appointed jobs, which are not required to be publicly advertised
SO WAS THIS PART OF THE LIMO DEAL ?
DSEA membership needs to either take action or don’t ever ask public for support for anything! Stick the bell to bell up your ass or you might be met with go to hell.
Call for a vote to withdraw DSEA Race to the Top support. It won’t stop Race to The Top and may only be a symbolic gesture but it is important to have your voice heard.
You can bet your ass Jack Markell approved this appointment! DSEA will endorse Jack Markell for 2012. DSEA should take a no recommendation position on the governor’s race.
