If Rocky Doesn't Find A Home He'll Die On August 24th

Rocky is a retired military dog who will be put down on August 24 if he's not adopted.
Rocky currently lives at Camp Pendleton, his home base since entering the Marine Corps in 2004. He served three tours in Iraq between 2004 and 2007 as a patrol and explosives dog, and returned to the states after his last handler was killed in theater. Since then, he has not had a steady handler, but has continued to serve on base until March of this year. By that time, a degenerative condition rendered him unable to work and he was retired. Typically an ex-military K9 will be adopted by his handler, but Rocky has no handler to call his own.Readers will find contact and additional information here. The base kennels are not suitable to provide the type of ongoing care and attention that Rocky needs and deserves. And without an individual or family to adopt him, he will be put down. He was recently featured in an article about military dogs enjoying a bright future after service, but that's not the case for him.
Because Rocky is a retired patrol dog, military protocol does not permit him to be surrendered to a shelter.

Free Speech Death Watch Alert: Secretary of State Clinton says State Department will coordinate with OIC on legal ways to implement UN's resolution criminalizing "defamation of religion"
Given the truth about Muslims' protests against the West ... one might first believe this story is a cruel hoax.

Unfortunately, it's not: Moving rapidly to try to implement an "anti-Islamophobia" UN resolution that cannot be reconciled with the First Amendment and that would criminalize telling the truth about how Islamic jihadists use the texts and teachings of Islam to encourage violence and supremacism, the pro-Islam Obama Administration plans to host a coordination meeting to discuss with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) how to implement the Islamists-pushed resolution no. 16/18 on combating defamation of religions (Islamo-speak for "honest discussion of the ideology that motivates Islamic jihadists"):
From the International Islamic News Agency (link no longer available) via Jihad Watch):
[...] The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had announced the intention of the U.S. State Department to organize a coordination meeting during her participation in the meeting which she co-chaired with the OIC Secretary General, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Istanbul on 15 July 2011. The meeting issued a joint statement emphasizing the dire need for the implementation of resolution 16/18.(emphasis mine)According to informed sources in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the two sides, in addition to other European parties, will hold a number of specialized meetings of experts in law and religion in order to finalize the legal aspect on how to better implement the UN resolution.
The sources said that the upcoming meetings aim at developing a legal basis for the UN Human Rights Council's resolution which help in enacting domestic laws for the countries involved in the issue, as well as formulating international laws preventing inciting hatred resulting from the continued defamation of religions.
On the other hand, the OIC Secretary General, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, stressed that the crime committed recently in Norway was a result of the rise of the extreme right in Europe and its easy mobility in political circles. He said that the OIC had warned several times against of what might be called institutionalization of the phenomenon of Islamophobia through the involvement of the European extreme right in government institutions and political action....
Meeting to finalize a "legal aspect on how to better implement the UN resolution"? No "legal basis" exists for restricting free speech in the U.S., period!
The Obama State Department has obviously chosen to ignore the fact that Americans take their freedom of speech rather seriously, and no Muslim nation, nor the UN, can usurp the right of every American to criticize Islam or any other religion, even severely. It is our Constitutional right to do so, and not even Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama can take that away from us.

MSNBC Edits Video To Misrepresent Rick Perry's Views And Accuse Him Of Racism
Disgusting and purposeful deception, yes. However, given that this is coming from MSNBC, certainly not surprising. Take the time to watch the whole clip:
One can't help but notice how quickly the Schultz' liberal commentators chime in to parott the racism meme. Note also how Schultz points out that Perry is "pro-business" ... as though supporting job-creating capitalism and the free market is 'evil'.

Chris Christie Preparing To Jump In?
It appears that the already very crowded GOP field is about to become even more crowded.
This, after we've been hearing otherwise all along ... and that Christie's stock and trade is honesty.
And while we're on the subject of a crowded GOP field, what's this about a possible Paul Ryan run for the WH?

$2.4 Trillion
That's the amount Washington just added to our already exploding debt of $14 trillion:
The accumulated obligations of the U.S. now exceed 100% of America's Gross Domestic Product. We've reached that point at which we are trapped in an economic catch-22.Keep reading; as bad as this sounds, it gets worse.Over the last 150 years or so, the average interest rate paid on cost of capital has been 4%. But these days, interest rates on the federal debt run just 1.25%. That's mostly due to a lack of demand by private companies for borrowing and the fact that the Fed is pumping money into the bond markets to keep interest rates down.
Rates, however, will soon go up. Additional borrowing by the U.S. government -- and the other 181 countries currently running in the red -- will force interest rates to increase as countries race against each other to attract investor money away from stock markets and other liquid assets.
Part one of the catch-22 is this. The U.S. can't afford to borrow money at anything much more than 0% interest. For each percentage point that interest rates rise, it costs an additional $150 billion or so per year to pay the additional interest. For example, if rates were to rise to the historic average of 4% on our entire debt, our annual deficit would increase by an additional $600 billion per year.
Then, on top of this, our Big Spender-in-Chief plans to ask for yet another stimulus from the debt-reduction committee (after all, it's like his spending so far has worked so well, right?).
And as Rick Moran aptly notes, doesn't calling something a deficit reduction committee and then asking it to spend more taxpayer dollars to stimulate the economy seem a bit counterintuitive?

Frantic final phone calls of woman, 19, eaten alive by brown bear and its three cubs: 'Mum, the bear is eating me!'
This is the most terrifying and heartbreaking story I've heard in a very long time. The incident occurred in Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, in the extreme east of Siberia:
A distraught mother listened on a mobile phone as her teenage daughter was eaten alive by a brown bear and its three cubs.More at The Daily Mail.Olga Moskalyova, 19, gave an horrific hour-long running commentary on her own death in three separate calls as the wild animals mauled her.
She screamed: 'Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it's such agony. Mum, help!'
Her mother Tatiana said that at first she thought she was joking.
'But then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga's voice, and the sounds of a bear growling and chewing,' she added. 'I could have died then and there from shock.'
Unknown to Tatiana, the bear had already killed her husband Igor Tsyganenkov - Olga's stepfather - by overpowering him, breaking his neck and smashing his skull.
I can't imagine the terror and pain the victims endured, and as for the agony the girl's mother went through ... such pain is beyond words to describe.

Is Stagflation On the Way?
Admittingly, I'm no economist. However, by definition, stagflation is when the inflation rate is high and the economic growth rate is low. So given that our Q2 GDP rose by only 1.3% (with the outlook not looking very promising) ... and the current rate of inflation having ticked up to 3.6% ... the fact that core wholesale inflation is now higher than it's been in 6 month certainly can't be a good sign:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Companies paid higher prices for tobacco, pickup trucks and pharmaceuticals in July, driving underlying wholesale inflation up by the most in six months. The piece goes on to note that economists say the jump in the core index is unlikely to continue ... but given the how poorly Obama's economists have performed so far, if they're an example of those 'economists' - I don't find that very assuring. This measure of inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, is known as the core Producer Price Index. It rose 0.4 percent in July, the biggest increase since January.
The overall PPI, which measures price changes in goods before they reach the consumer, rose 0.2 percent last month, the Labor Department said Wednesday. That follows a 0.4 percent drop in June, the first decline in 17 months.
Gas prices fell for the second straight month. Food costs rose 0.6 percent, the biggest rise since February.

Obama Claims He Has It Tougher Than Abe Lincoln
Although our Narcissist-in-Chief has previously compared himself to Lincoln, Reagan, FDR and even Martin Luther King Jr., yesterday he made his most laughably ridiculous exaggeration yet - claiming he has it tougher than Abe Lincoln:
President Barack Obama said yesterday in Decorah, Iowa, that he absorbs more political criticism than Abraham Lincoln, the assassinated 16th U.S. president, attracted from his Civil War critics.Much more at The Daily Caller. The comment came during a question-and-answer session where one invited audience member asked Obama how he deals with his congressional critics in the GOP. "The Congress doesn't seem to be a good partner. You said so yourself, they're more interested in seeing you lose than [seeing] the country win," the questioner lamented.
"Democracy is always a messy business in a big country like this," Obama responded. "When you listen to what the federalists said about the anti-federalists ... those guys were tough. Lincoln, they used to talk about him almost as bad as they talk about me."
The comparison "is hysterical ... that is really laughable in many respects," said Alvin Felzenberg, the author of a book on American presidents. "You couldn't print things today they said about Lincoln." Felzenberg teaches at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, and was the chief spokesman for the 9/11 Commission. ...
[...] Obama's sensitivity to criticism is bound up with his progressive ideology, which sees political disputes as best resolved by experts, said Michael Franc, vice president for government studies at the Heritage Foundation. Obama believes "he has discovered the truth and if you disagree with him, it's not only against the country, its unpatriotic and anti-Obama," Franc suggested.
As for that "invited audience member" who softballed Obama the question of how he deals with his congressional critics in the GOP, and handing him "The Congress doesn't seem to be a good partner" comment ... giving him a clear opportunity to carry on with his attack against the Republicans for standing up against his spending ... let there be no doubt that the guest was indeed "invited"!

Victor Davis Hanson: 'The Left's greatest dream is becoming its worst nightmare'
Victor Davis Hanson at NRO, on Obama's Paradoxes:
[...] Consider the myriad paradoxes of the Obama age. Unprecedented government borrowing is out of control, unsustainable, and finally causing financial markets to panic. Yet we are told that the necessary cutting ahead will further stall the stalled economy. We went from $9 trillion to $14 trillion in aggregate debt in order to jump-start a sluggish recovery, and failed -- only to be warned that if we do not proceed to incur even more debt -- from $14 trillion to $16 trillion -- we will stall the stalled effort to restart the stalled economy. So more of what did not work most surely will work?Take the time to read the whole thing. The Left insists that the real problem is not unmanageable debt, but near-record unemployment, as if the two were unrelated. Most Americans apparently once agreed, as Obama easily borrowed nearly $5 trillion in his first two and a half years in office, supposedly to stimulate employers into hiring workers. We are now told the U.S. must borrow more, and should worry less, not more, about paying the money back. The logic of the new Keynesians is that stimulus is never quite achieved because indebtedness is never quite large enough -- an Achilles-and-the-tortoise paradox that only insolvency will finally dispel.
Rioting in London and flash mobbing in American cities have raised another paradox: Does contemporary looting and violence follow from physical deprivation or from a boredom, envy, and anger caused by too many subsidies and too little personal initiative and self-reliance? We know that the more we ensure that young people have generous unemployment insurance and government money for housing, food, and education, the more they are likely not to get up at 6 a.m. and take an extra class or look for a job. And yet the more we provide such bread-and-circuses dependencies, the more it becomes dangerous to question such life support. Ask the Emperor Justinian, who cut back on a bloated civil-service and entitlement bureau -- and earned the Nika riots, which almost toppled his regime. So even as we suspect that the welfare state is unsustainable, we are told that it alone can prevent social unrest -- which we suspect is currently brought about by the welfare state.
[...] ... he chose the path of Jimmy Carter and the pre-1995 Bill Clinton -- even more redistributive state programs, more stifling regulations, more petulant talk about "them," more class warfare, more debt, and more failed big government. ...
After going through more paradoxes, Hanson gets down to there being only one remaining: The once-divine Obama will do more to discredit the Left than any other progressive in modern history -- as its greatest dream becomes its worst nightmare.
Some might see a certain justice here.

Obama Attacks Tea Party for Holding Back Recovery
On planet Obama, it's never Campaigner-in-Chief's liberal-progressive policies and big government agenda with all the new regulations, escalating healthcare costs due to Obamacare, his promise of job-killing taxes on business owners, and pro-union/anti-business policies - along with all his speeches about wealth-redistribution, that are behind the failure of the economy to recover ... it's always the weather, the earthquake in Japan, the phase of the moon ... and mostly conservatives' fault for wanting the government to reign-in it's unsustainable spending and crushing debt that has our nation on a trajectory toward insolvency.
More recently, yesterday, it was due to bad luck; today it's the Tea Party that's holding back the recovery.

The Poisoned Fruit of Social Democracy Is Nothing Less Than Complete Collapse of the Economy

Steve McCann notes in his piece today at The American Thinker that it is difficult not to notice that most of the financial, economic and societal problems making headlines in the world today are centered in the socialist democracies of Europe ... and the United States (as has accelerated under Obama) ... the reality being that the "West" has finally reached the point of saturation wherein its economies and societies can no longer afford to guarantee a certain standard of living for the citizens of these countries in exchange for votes:
[...] These nations have two factors in common: 1) they are all either confirmed to be or determined (as in the case of the United States) to become socialist democracies; and 2) they have evolved into overwhelmingly consumption-based societies, greatly diminishing their goods-producing sector (which generates the real wealth of a nation), thus eroding their job-creation ability as well as the nation's wealth and tax base. Yet the governments of all these countries continue to deficit spend, over-tax (chasing wealth and job-creation off-shore) and borrow in an effort to meet the expectations of the people.Take the time to read it all. This never ending downward cycle is about to crash as the central banks in Europe and the United States cannot continue to, in essence, print money and guarantee the balance sheets of the banks and government debts of the various nations caught up in this maelstrom.
It is the exception that a country in this sphere is not facing long or short-term insolvency. ...
[...] It is no coincidence that that so much of the global financial chaos resides in the Western world. This region that has been dominated by the failed philosophies of socialism/Marxism and an assumption that prosperity would never end. Social democracy was a devil's bargain, based on the assumption that the engine of that prosperity -- capitalism -- would never cease to produce wealth and revenue to the government, which could buy votes with it. However, it now has all crashed, as the reality of a global economy has come to pass and many other nations are in the equation, having taken over the goods-production and innovation activity once dominated by the West. Unless and until the West again becomes more of a goods-producing and exporting region by dramatically changing its politics and economic philosophy, it will continue to descend into further chaos as these economies are cannibalizing themselves in order to maintain their flawed societal commitments.
Whlle some might call this alarmist, it's hard to dispute the fact of where Europe now stands economically, and where it's obvious that the U.S. is rapidly heading ... unless we change our trajectory, and do so very soon. It's also obvious that in both Europe and the U.S., it is the failed philosophies of liberal-progressivism (McCann goes so far as to call it socialism/Marxism - and he's probably right) that have brought the West to the precipice of insolvency. And as McCann goes on to aptly suggest, it's probably too late for Europe ... and the only chance the U.S. still has is to make a correction in 2012. It's likely our last chance.

Democratic Politicians Hate Corporate Tax Breaks, Unless ...
As the SacBee points out today, Democratic politicians and liberal groups, including unions, often rail against corporate tax loopholes as unjustified raids on the public treasury -- as they should; that is, unless it happens to benefit a heavily unionized industry whose top executives are overwhelmingly Democrats and contribute lavishly to the party's candidates and causes.
Yep, you guessed it: That would be Southern California's movie and television production community.

The Ignorance Of King Barack The Dunce
I'm so struck by the appropriateness of the title that I borrowed it from Shawn Mallow, over at Wizbang, who concludes what many other Americans have begun to sense for some time now ... that "this man is devoid of any ability to think of, successfully sell, or implement any policy or plans which will benefit the U.S. worker or economy in a meaningful, secure manner. He is impotence, personified. His tenure has been, by any simple or stringent standard, a failure of monumental proportions":
[...] Jobs.Read the whole thing.Remember those?
Remember the good old days when, under the George W. Bush administration, the average annual rate of unemployment between 2001 and 2008 was 5.26%? (Though, according to the MSM and rabid Democrats, the economy was in shambles.)
Capitalist-hayseed-hick-pig.
As the cacophony of the debt ceiling brawl subsided this past week, President Obama has decided to "pivot," once again, to the issue of job creation.
Now, in true campaign fashion, he's on a 3-state bus tour designed to convince people that this time, he's focused like a laser beam on job creation.
It's too bad Obama's campaigning doesn't create jobs. We'd have zero unemployment.
Last Monday, Obama gave as a glimpse into some specific policies which could be advanced to help spurn real economic growth. It's instructional to go back just a week ago to realize the wondrous workings of a policy-wonk's mind. However simulating and hopeful his prescription for our ailing economy may have sounded to him, after listening for a while, it is quite apparent that his slick delivery and gilded speech no longer exist. The mesmerizing populist barn-burners of old have been replaced by canned, sterile speeches, filled with platitudes made to sound as if it's content were focused toward a citizenry processing a third grade comprehension level. He dusts off the tired, moldy Democratic playbook consisting of class warfare at every chance, employing the phrase that rich people "pay there fair share," as if what they now pay to the government has contributed in some way to the loss of jobs, or has been a catalyst for the trillions in new spending implemented under his reign. And though this phrase is now nothing more than a weak and disingenuous display of desperation, today, he again trotted it out as if it contained merit:
Interestingly, Mallow is no more critical of Barack Obama's economic prowess (rather the lack of it) than Democrat Steve Wynn, the CEO of the casino company Wynn Resorts, recently delivered the following rant on his company's quarterly conference call:
I'm afraid to do anything in the current political environment in the United States. You watch television and see what's going on on this debt ceiling issue. And what I consider to be a total lack of leadership from the President and nothing's going to get fixed until the President himself steps up and wrangles both parties in Congress. But everybody is so political, so focused on holding their job for the next year that the discussion in Washington is nauseating. And that's coming from a Democrat supporter of 'King Barack'!And I'm saying it bluntly, that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business, and progress and job creation in my lifetime. And I can prove it and I could spend the next 3 hours giving you examples of all of us in this market place that are frightened to death about all the new regulations, our healthcare costs escalate, regulations coming from left and right. A President that seems, that keeps using that word redistribution. Well, my customers and the companies that provide the vitality for the hospitality and restaurant industry, in the United States of America, they are frightened of this administration. And it makes you slow down and not invest your money. Everybody complains about how much money is on the side in America.
You bet and until we change the tempo and the conversation from Washington, it's not going to change. And those of us who have business opportunities and the capital to do it are going to sit in fear of the President. And a lot of people don't want to say that. They'll say, God, don't be attacking Obama. Well, this is Obama's deal and it's Obama that's responsible for this fear in America.
The guy keeps making speeches about redistribution and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that don't invest, their holding too much money. We haven't heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists. Everybody's afraid of the government and there's no need soft peddling it, it's the truth. It is the truth. And that's true of Democratic businessman and Republican businessman, and I am a Democratic businessman and I support Harry Reid. I support Democrats and Republicans. And I'm telling you that the business community in this company is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he's gone, everybody's going to be sitting on their thumbs.
Can it be any clearer? See why the title fits so well!
Meanwhile, Obama, on his merry magical campaign/meet the American people, taxpayer funded, bus tour ... declares he has a jobs plan - but he'll be releasing it in September (that'll make it just about 3 years late).
Any bets on it having something to do with more spending and wealth-redistribution!

Re: Obama's 'green jobs' fizzle
No real surprise, here. As Michael Laprarie points out at the link, it's the result of the Obama Administration's propensity toward "leveling the playing field" by picking winners (good guys) and losers (villains), and then rewarding the winners with government largess.
It's also what happens when we have an Administration whose concepts have consistently proven to be inefficient, very costly, and incapable of living up to their promises because they are ideologically-based and not market-driven.

(Video) Pat Condell on the Riots in Great Britain: 'Britain is a Riot'
We can always count on Pat Condell to cut right to the quick of the matter. This time, it's on the riots in Great Britain: "Like rats who s**t in their nests"
As Nice Deb points out, law and order has completely broken down in Great Britain, after years of influence by liberal-proressive ideology which elevates the mob above law abiding citizens. Home owners in Great Britain aren't even allowed to defend themselves in their own houses. Condell's absolutely correct in saying that if the police had beaten back the mob before it had gotten out of control, race hustlers would have screamed bloody murder. Indeed, civilization retreats while the mob advances.

Video: Police Let Flash Mob Rob 7-11 in Maryland
Are we now Britain?
A 7-11 in Montgomery County, Maryland was hit by a flash mob on August 13, 2011. The clerk activated a silent alarm, but police waited until the mob left the store before responding. Further, according to the video, the officer refused to investigate the crime, and only viewed this incident as shoplifting.
As we've previously noted, Walter Russell Meade has reported on a disturbing trend in the US--violence and theft by flash mobs of young black males has occurred in Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington and Las Vegas -- all of which is being underreported by the media. And this list isn't complete.
And as Melanie Phillips has pointed out, the violent anarchy that has taken hold of British cities is the all-too-predictable outcome of a three-decade liberal experiment which tore up virtually every basic social and moral value. What should not be overlooked by America is what liberal-progressivism has already wrought upon us ... and realize that should its agenda to push us into the same entitlement and welfare state that Britain has become remain unchecked, we are doomed to experience the same fate as Britain.

Romney Hecklers in Iowa Were Part of Radical Street Thug Group
It turns out that those obnoxious hecklers who tried to shout down Mitt Romney at the Iowa State Fair last week weren't just random Iowans trying to participate in the democratic process, they were members of a Marxist, ACORN-like group called Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (Iowa CCI) - an affiliate of a street thug outfit called National People's Action (NPA):
... Anti-American radicals, not mere liberals, screamed at Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney at the Iowa State Fair, but you wouldnĆ¢ā¬ā¢t know that from most news reports.Continue reading. The mainstream media fell down on the job by misreporting the name of the group whose obnoxious members (see CBS News video) badgered and heckled Romney on Thursday, shrieking and interrupting him as he attempted to share his views on reforming entitlement programs like Social Security.
Even though oceans of news articles on the Internet say a "liberalĆ¢ā¬Ā group, the Ć¢ā¬ÅIowa Center for Community Involvement," gave the former Massachusetts governor a hard time at a candidate forum, that group doesnĆ¢ā¬ā¢t appear to exist.
The error seems to stem from a mistake in an AP story by Philip Elliott. (In the old days, getting the name of a person or organization wrong was often a firing offense for reporters. Alas.)
As the piece goes on to explain, Iowa CCI is part of a larger Saul Alinsky-inspired organizing network called National PeopleĆ¢ā¬ā¢s Action (NPA).
And yes, this is only the beginning of what's to come. Election 2012 has all the makings of being the nastiest yet. It is, after all, the only thing liberal-progressives have going for them given that they can't run on their record.

Rick Perry's Not-So-Well-Known Stealth Jiahad Problem
A not-so-little-matter for readers to think about before becoming a Rick Perry supporter:
... Perry has been sucked into the propaganda vortex, and is now wielding his enormous power to influence changes in the schoolrooms and in the curricula to reflect a sharia compliant version of Islam. He is a friend of the Aga Khan, the multimillionaire head of the Ismailis, a Shi'ite sect of Islam that today proclaims its nonviolence but in ages past was the sect that gave rise to the Assassins. Perry has concluded at least two cooperation agreements between the state of Texas and the Ismailis, including a comprehensive program to feed children in Texas public schools and taqiyya nonsense about how Islam is a religion of peace. Another agreement stipulates that Texas officials will work with the Ismailis in the "fields of education, health sciences, natural disaster preparedness and recovery, culture and the environment." Perry let on that this was all about whitewashing Islam's bloody historical and modern-day record: "traditional Western education speaks little of the influence of Muslim scientists, scholars, throughout history, and for that matter the cultural treasures that stand today in testament to their wisdom."More at Atlas Shrugs.
