Move to Amend: Coalition to Abolish Corporate Personhood...

On January 21, 2010, with its ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are persons, entitled by the U.S. Constitution to buy elections and run our government. Human beings are people; corporations are legal fictions.
We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United, and move to amend our Constitution to:
* Firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.
* Guarantee the right to vote and to participate, and to have our vote and participation count.
* Protect local communities, their economies, and democracies against illegitimate "preemption" actions by global, national, and state governments.
The Supreme Court is misguided in principle, and wrong on the law. In a democracy, the people rule. We Move to Amend.
Go sign their petition. Support this movement in any way you can.

Log Cabin Republicans Are The Force Behind The New York Marriage Equality Bill, AND The Repeal Of DADT...
OK.
After a day of Conservative RAGE over the New York State Marriage Equality Bill, I think it is past time to point out that the Repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," AND the passage of New York's Marriage Equality Bill came about due to The Log Cabin Republicans.
The LGBT wing of the Republican Party brought the Lawsuit that ultimately resulted in the Repeal of DADT: LINK Repeal is in full Roll-Out, now, as Commands complete and certify their Training Milestones. Recruiting in all the Services is to Go Green For Gay within the next 45-90 days.
No reports of repercussion, dissension, repercussions or desertions, and certainly no losses to Retention OR Recruiting have been noted across the board from Army through Navy and Marine Corps, and Air Force, to even Coast Guard Reserve. Recruiting numbers are up, and/or maintaining across the Services.
In the case of New York's Marriage Equality Bill, were it not for the Log Cabin Republicans joining in Common Cause with Independent, and Liberal LGBT groups, it could not have happened. They were the impetus behind moving the three Conservatives/Republicans to change their entrenched positions: LINK
Kraus and her partner Rebecca Hopkinson were campaigning for the bill under the auspices of New Yorkers United for Marriage, an umbrella coalition of LGBT rights groups that came together specifically for the same-sex marriage rights push. The Empire State Pride Agenda, the Human Rights Campaign, Freedom to Marry, Marriage Equality New York and the Log Cabin Republicans all joined forces in order to pass a gay marriage bill...
So, please, Conservatives, Republicans, and those affiliated with same: Judge not, lest ye be judged. If your house is made of glass, cast ye not stones... etc. Your OWN People are yearning to be FREE.
They're here. They're Queer. They're Conservatives. They either are, or have good Lawyers, and they have big checks to write. They are changing YOUR Culture from within. Stop being so Hypocritical. It's the very reason we all point and laugh at you.
I guess it's either accept the Log Cabin in your Party once and for all, or cast them out, and not only lose a LOT of money and Political and Corporate points of influence, but one more part of your Humanity, Compassion, and Commitment to Freedom, and the Rights of ALL Americans.

An Hour With Steppin' In It and Shout Sister Shout!
An hour with Michigan's sweetest secret. I've posted them up plenty in the past, but these dear friends of mine did me a beautiful solid, playing lead in a New Orleans-style Jazz Funeral Procession this week for my friend Ellen, who passed away way too damned early. They led a parade from the Church, through Downtown Saginaw, to the Hamilton Street Pub, where they entertained the capacity crowd for the evening. Is it really pimpin' when there is so much love? The Truly Rich Assholes, And Their "Plutonomy"...
The Truly Rich Assholes do not think like the rest of us. In fact, their entire agenda is 180-degree out from ours.
To wit (and I hope you will take the time to read these):

There is absolutely no mystery to the policies being proposed and passed. This is not "our" economy, it is THEIR economy, and they are cute enough to officially refer to their economy as "The Plutonomy." These two papers make it 100% clear that WE don't even matter to their Plutonomy... save for costing them too much in Labor. They also make it very clear that if WE cut too deeply into their profit margins, then they have the power to change that through Taxation and Property Rights policies.
These papers were published in 2005-6, and it is clear that this is the Agenda they are currently working to enforce.
