(StateColumn) – Republican presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul joined his son, Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul, Monday, saying the recent decision by Standard and Poor’s to downgrade the credit rating of the U.S. is not the fault of the Tea Party.

Update: According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the person of interest is a cab driver with no connection to Jared Lee Loughner. The man told police he drove Loughner to the Safeway grocery store where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and others were shot yesterday.

The FBI and local law enforcement in Pima County, Arizona, are looking for a second man wanted in connection with the shooting of Rep. Giffords and the murder of a federal judge and five others. View More Here

(InfoWarHorse) – Midnight, madcap humorist and intellectual slapstick artist Stephen Colbert placed a comment on his Twitter account. The comment read, “Now I ain’t sayin’ Ron Paul’s a gold digger, but he ain’t messin’ with no broke system-of-paper-currency-that-will-make-our-debt-bigger.”

I sat and watched as the “Re-Tweets” began to trickle in, then pour, then flood the twitter scanner on a website. More than a million followers are registered on Stephen’s Twitter account, many echoing Stephen’s original comment like mindless parrots. A Re-Tweet is the Twitter version of chain email forwarding.

Floored that so many people seem to either get a kick out of a collapsing fiat money system, and the general economy with it, I decided to trail how many people had Re-Tweeted the original Tweet. As we reported earlier this week, members of the Andover Tea Party in Ohio were notified that they would be banned from holding a public rally with speakers and performers in the Town’s central square on Constitution Day.
