Noticed... Disappointed, Not Surpised...

The Embittered Hillary Supporters (EHS) are still embittered. But, they are taking a much more subtle tack.

They are still out there, kneecapping Obama for mouthing the words, and sometimes voting to get those mythical "Undecided Centrists" to vote for him. Political Kabuki.

It is still impossible to get them to understand the simple logic of "Let's just get A Democrat into the White House. We can get better and more Progressive Legislation through Congress, and signed into Law much easier with the NotMcCain Candidate in the White House, and we'll have control of SCOTUS placement."

This Democratic Convention is shaping up to be one enormous Nightmare Evil Clown Circus (NECC), and I am actually GLAD that I don't have a TV to keep me rubbernecking the horror 24/7. What I see via the internets is more than enough.

YES, we're a herd of cats, bur for crissakes, what good does it do to pile-on and add to criticism of the ONE Candidate that we've got who is able to fully fund and run a Presidential Campaign to what should be a very easy win?

Dear Lords, yes some of the most insane VP choices have been floated, and yes, he's mouthed some words, and voted in ways we can't fathom or accept, but we cannot AFFORD McCain on ANY level, or to handle the known and growing crises, let alone the unknowns. We at LEAST have a chance to mold Obama into what we need right now-- more FDR and less Coolidge or Hoover.

I know, and I am pretty sure that I understand, and for the most part share, many of the PUMA's fears, worries and apprehensions about where Obama appears to be heading, but for the love of Pete, we HAVE nobody else who is fully capable-- financially, and with enough momentum-- to win in November. If we suddenly change horses, it will read and be played as total disarray. The Media will latch on, and drive us down. There's no denying how it will play. Teh Blogtopia (ysctp) will explode with chaos and vitriol. Oh, come on-- you KNOW it will. And into the Wurlitzer it will all go to the total dumbasses who insist on voting against their better interests.

Sidebar: I think the only acceptable INSTANT change would be the entrance of an Al Gore challenge at the Convention. Even THAT move would cast uncertainty, with Mass Media as it remains, on what could easily be an already certain Democratic win.

Are there any Edwards, Kucinich, Dodd, Gravel or Richardson, PUMAs out there?

I just learned this past weekend what PUMA stood for-- Party Unity My Ass. I'm just trying to gauge the scope, scale and make-up of these PUMAs. I worry that, after writing all this, that I might have made up my mind too early, as I was an Edwards (and Kucinich, Richardson and Gravel) supporter but, now, without the emotional attachment of being a Hillary or Obama supporter, it is easier to support who's left, and see more objectively the continuing rancor between the EHS's and the OFC (Obama Fan Club), as they are called, and see only selfishness from the PUMAs. No matter how it is packaged, it is still unseemly, and unwelcomed. You know what? I really don't care if some EHS or a member of the OFC called you a dickhead, or a bitch or worse in some comments argument, or forum, or chat room. Oh, those damned partisan baseniks. Here's the Candidate we have left, and his name is Obama. Whether we like that or not.

I supported REAL, known steadfast Progressives. I voted Edwards even after he dropped out before Suder-Duper Tuesday. I accept that this is who we've got left. I'm going to vote for who is left, and have the audacity to HOPE that he doesn't totally fuck it up on the way to November and beyond.

To be honest, I don't get it, and I don't quite grok who is playing the most dangerous game here-- the PUMAs or the Obama Campaign... or Obama himself.

But damnit, I am going to vote for him, and do my damnedest to not detract or distract from his Candidacy. The alternative is KNOWN destruction of what's left good and right and whole of America. if there is EVER a time to become 'LOCKSTEP LIBRULS," now is that time.

Why spend the energy to detract from our last best chance?

It makes no damned sense to me. At all.

In four years' time, do you want to be able to afford to live again; breathe fresher air; have workplace and food safety regulated again; maybe have Solar Panels powering your home; maybe have the threat of THE MAN invading your home, records, files, email and web surfing reduced; have our Troops OUT of Iraq; have a balanced budget and get back into actually making things again in America; maybe gain single payer medical insurance; have affordable housing; have affordable and effective Mass Transit... or do you want to continue to suffer under the same policies, more ideologically pure movement Republican and NeoCon/ Federalist Attorneys, Judges and SCOTUS Justices, not to mention more Careerist Republicans in Cabinet and Bureau seats; but have the "rights" to a sneering "I told you so!" on your blog? If you're the latter, you are fucking sick. Look-- you don't have to give him the Rusty Trombone treatment, ya don't even have to kiss him-- just stop with force-feeding the Republican Puke Funnel (RPF).

Bottom line.

I support the NotMcCain, the only Democratic Presidential Candidate that we've got left.

I support Obama.

Is it really too much to ask to please quit feeding the Wurlitzer broken ditto records?

Dear Clinton Supporters...

It's over. Kindly get back on the Democratic Party bus, or STFU, already. I hear nobody screaming and agitating for Edwards, Kucinich or Richardson for President, nor do I hear anyone saying, "If Obama doesn't pick Dodd for his VP, then I'm voting for McCain."

If I could get over Edwards, then YOU can get over Hillary.

Accept Reality and move on to putting a Democrat in the White House, or please shut up. We've got five months. We don't need you sniping at our candidate for the next two months. It's not productive. Quit being selfish.

"So I want to say to my supporters, when you hear people saying – or think to yourself – "if only" or "what if," I say, "please don't go there." Every moment wasted looking back keeps us from moving forward.

"Life is too short, time is too precious, and the stakes are too high to dwell on what might have been. We have to work together for what still can be. And that is why I will work my heart out to make sure that Senator Obama is our next President and I hope and pray that all of you will join me in that effort."
-- Hillary Clinton

Hearing Clintonites on NPR this morning, speaking of voting for McCain simply makes me sick to my stomach. That kind of thought process is as delusional as it is fetishistic. Some Obama supporter called you or your candidate a naughty name in the comments of a blog in the heat of a battle upon which both sides eagerly threw gasoline by the gallons, and now you're going to take your anger out on the entire Country and the World? Boy-- THAT'LL show 'em, huh?

Grow up and get a grip.

UPDATE: What Alien Trucker says.

Theme Song For The Obama/Clinton Wars...

Screw the bunch of you Partisans delivering the OPPO research to the feet of the GOP, and destroying our chances for a FUTURE for this country. You're KILLING America with your BULLSHIT. EVERYONE is watching it.

Stop it.

There is a REAL opponent-- his name is John McCain.

Stop destroying America's chance at remaining even a ghost of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave by your divisive and racial infighting-- it is helping only the G.O. fucking P.

You people are really making me sick. Just go the fuck away, send your candidate cash, vote, and SHUT THE FUCK UP until November.

You are doing no one favors with your rancor.

The Inter-Party Destruction Continues. I Give Up.

From a letter that I wrote tonight to CarbonDate... (edited for here)

I am totally FUCT by the level of inter-party hatred being played out in public.

GOP oppo-- taking notes.

GOP ads-- reflecting the inter-party hatred.

Campaigns?-- Started six months too early.

Recco-- Avoid starting this early in the future. If we even HAVE that opportunity in 2012.

I think the Democrats just may have totally fucked themselves with all this shit-slinging. Again.

I am not enthusiastic.

Man. I wish Gore had just thrown in. I wish Edwards had used his OWN cash to fund his campaign.

I want a SINGLE Democratic nominee. I wish that nominee was worth a shit, and not damaged goods stumbling into the General.

Thanks to DU, Kos, MyDD, Other Big Blogs and Forums, and blog comments everywhere, we're stumbling into the conventions with a weaked Candidate, against whom the DEMOCRATS have supplied all the OPPO. Sweet.

I hold NO HOPE.

My "Boy Scout" plans are to just survive, no matter what the November outcome.

Buying more ammo. Growing more food, feeding and encouraging more Community between my neighbors, and attending Local Gov't Meetings. No matter what, no matter WHO is in Office (or that person's Party affiliation), I suspect that America is going to collapse like the USSR and Argentina. If not in 2008, then 2009. I believe in my heart, and through all my research that that is absolutely inevitable now.

I'm over and past National politics. National is a quaint and passed notion. It's all about Local now.

There is nothing left here except for a hollow shell.

I believe in my heart that the United States of America is over. Barring some outright miracle.

-- If Clinton is elected, her every action will be discounted, ridiculed and overpowered.

-- If Obama is elected, his every action will be questioned and weakened.

-- If McCain is elected, his every action will be (right wing) panderously wrong.

This PAST four years were critical (and disastrous) enough. This next four years are beyond vital, and Democratic voters made the wrong choices already. Now they are destroying the two (bad) candidates they have chosen.

Why hope?

It's time to prepare for the version of America that will be left after this next four years.

It won't look nearly like the united States of America that we grew up knowing.

I think we're over.

I am not happy. I have lost faith in this American Democracy.

No. I don't want to hear from Obama or Clinton fans, and your "But, but, but..." I'll ban you immediately. Go howl at DU, KOS, or MyDD... You're not wanted here. You all really disgust me.

A Question Worth Considering...

CarbonDate Pandora is worried, and asks:

If Obama wins the Democratic nomination, will the DLC try to defeat him in the general election?

Go read his her good post on the subject.

I'm totally ambivalent to the remaining two candidates. I've not given either a dime, and won't until after the Convention. So, I've no horse in this race. Come November, I'm going to walk into the Polling Place, push the Democratic button on the DIEBOLD machine, and walk out. But, I am no fan of the DLC, or the Blue Dog Republicans Democrats.

For the record: I was pushing for Gore, hoping for Edwards, and voted for Edwards in the Tennessee Primary-- even after he announced the "suspension" of his campaign. These two were in my bottom five.

So leave the comments at the Command Post, and not here. I'm still sick, achy and cranky. I'm trying to not feed the GOP oppo machine. Pandora's post is just too interesting to pass up.

UPDATE: I didn't notice the author of the post, and apologize for improper crediting. I regret the mistake.

Why, No. You're Candidate Is Not Omnisciently Awesome...

And your hysterics, vitriol, invective, and very serious Google or even Nexus-based research only breaks-down, and discourages the fence-sitting voters, and feeds the OPPO.

Just saying.

Y'all. Please stop linking to, and repeating the Teh Stupid. Please? Please?

Home Before the Storms... And I Voted

My most excellent boss let us out of work a bit early to get to the polling place before the storms hit us, and the power-outages take out the voting machines.

Every Democratic Candidate was still on our ballot, and I sat there staring at the screen, wonder which button to push. Then I heard Edwards' voice in my head saying, "I am therefore SUSPENDING my campaign."

I voted my conscience, and voted for Edwards.

There. I've declared my Candidate of choice, Bob Cesca.

I have a feeling that Huckabee is going to make a surprisingly strong showing here in Tennessee. The Democratic winner is a total mystery to me.

Brian and Timmeh On The Iowa Caucuses....

Hey, fellas! Tell that "untested" bullshit to Bill Clinton and George fucking W. Bush... I s'pose they'll nod once or twice before laughing in your fool faces.

Last Night's Big Heros...

The biggest surprise of all from last night is the enormous turnout of first-time and young voters (caucus-goers). People who have never been involved in politics before, and those usually under-represented-- namely the 17-29 year-old demographic. You all have done my heart proud, and I salute you for getting involved.

I've been purposefully staying away from the primary politics, and will continue to only comment occasionally on this ugly process until we have the one, true candidate.

But, MAN! Over 50% of the Democratic caucus-goers were there for the first time. OUTSTANDING! Thank you for making such an enormous impact in Iowa, and standing up for changing this worried Democracy of ours! I hope that this becomes a trend Nationwide.

Will this be the year that we put the first Gen-Xer into the Oval Office? Is it possible that we might finally be able to take the Nation's Keys away from the hopelessly baggage-laden Baby Boomers? Will we finally be able to let go of Viet Nam, Nixon, Chappaquiddick, Roe v. Wade and Civil Rights as "revenge issues" from the frothing Rightwing, along with Media references to Hippies and Communists? It certainly would be refreshing.

The Runner Stumbles...

Only 18,000 jobs added (instead of the forecasted 70,000), and unemployment jumped to 5% (instead of the expected 4.8%).

via Bloomberg

Jan. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Hiring in the U.S. slowed more than forecast in December and unemployment jumped to a two-year high, raising the odds the Federal Reserve will need to cut interest rates by half a point this month to ward off a recession.

Payrolls rose by 18,000, the least since August 2003, after a 115,000 gain in November that was larger than initially reported, the Labor Department said today in Washington. The jobless rate rose to 5.0 percent from 4.7 percent in November.

Treasuries climbed, the dollar fell and stock futures slid after the report indicated a widening hit to the economy from the housing slump and reduced access to credit. Fed policy makers last month lowered growth forecasts and said they were concerned at the risk of a ``marked deceleration'' in spending.

``This tells you that the strains from credit problems and so forth that have been developing the last six months are starting to bite and they're biting in a way that now finally draws consumption into question,'' said Neal Soss, chief economist at Credit Suisse Group Inc. in New York.

Yields on benchmark 10-year Treasury notes fell to 3.85 percent at 8:57 a.m. in New York from 3.89 percent late yesterday. The dollar dropped 0.4 percent to $1.4802 per euro and Standard & Poor's 500 Index futures expiring in March lost 1.1 percent to 1,442.6.

Economists surveyed by Bloomberg News had forecast an increase of 70,000 in payrolls, according to the median of 74 estimates, compared with an originally reported gain of 94,000 in October. Predictions ranged from 34,000 to 106,000.

A President Obama or President Edwards will have a lot to deal with come next January. I suspect that the realities of our collapsing economy will have a huge impact on the elections-- particularly the primaries and Party Conventions. Obama and Edwards are already positioned to address these issues... Clinton? Well, she seems to be oblivious. Iowans obviously have noticed it. I've got a feeling that her pollsters will push her to radically change course, and predict a sudden blossoming of "All-New! Populist Hillary! (now with Care(tm)!" Hot new packaging, same status-quo flavor.

Five short days until New Hampshire's primaries are history. I do wonder how the equation might change next week.

Gore Rules Out Run...

Bummer.

via Reuters

OSLO (Reuters) - Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore says he has no plans to join the presidential race despite encouragement from thousands of supporters since he won the Nobel Peace Prize for campaigning against climate change.

Gore, narrowly beaten by U.S. President George W. Bush in the 2000 election, said that it was a "great honor" to win the award. Gore will share the $1.5 million prize with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

"I don't have plans to be a candidate again so I don't really see it in that context at all," Gore said when asked in an interview with Norway's NRK public television aired on Wednesday about how the award would affect his political future.

NRK said it was Gore's first interview since the prize, announced in Oslo, revived speculation that he might make a late bid for the Democratic nomination for the 2008 presidential election.

An organization called www.draftgore.com said that 200,000 people had signed a petition to urge Gore to run, with a jump of 70,000 signatures in four days after the prize.

"I'm involved in a different kind of campaign, it's a global campaign," Gore said. "It's a campaign to change the way people think about the climate crisis."

Gravel... Rock and Ripples...

Gravel is one damned interesting and intriguing candidate for President. This is probably the most daring and artistic political ad that I've seen in a very long time. The only way that it could have been improved is to have filmed it in black and white.

.

Gravel's Campaign Site. Find out more. Give if you'd like.
