Reed in Partnership and the Carers Scam
February 9, 2010
Ipswich Unemployed Action has been tipped off about Reed in Partnership’s intention of forcing Flexible New Deal participants into Carers Jobs – which is pretty much a duplication of the Jobcentre Plus activity that was underway in 2009 at the Ipswich Jobcentre Plus Office – and a few others I know of.
Reed in Partnership is ignoring the Flexible New Deal participants’ 5 chosen job areas and in some cases forcing on participants a career in caring.
This strikes me as extremely concerning – not primarily because jobs are being unnecessarily forced on to Flexible New Deal participants – but due to the fact that the disabled, the elderly and the young requires a person undertaking a carer role who are passionate about the job and not someone who couldn’t care only not to get a 6 month variable benefit sanction.
A carer who doesn’t care really goes against the point I think…

This is exactly what RIP aims to do…
By “carers” they mean demeaning jobs in places such as nursing homes cleaning up faeces, urine and sick, changing “nappies”, taking dead bodies out to the “morgue” etc.

Yes, obviously – its a scam to even think of considering it as a career… they just want people doing that for 4 weeks plus for FREE… great abuse!

Interesting to note that the International Labour Organisation defines “decent work” as work that is freely chosen, productive, free from harassment and fairly paid.

the reason for this is that there often appears to more then a few of these types of work being advertised.
this not for everyone and as stated requires an often specialist approach.
its highly doubtful if matron will be interested if someone has a history of another employment,a crb check would be required also and not everyone would be happy about this either.

some people do make a career from it and are happy to help people when they most need it…
