Katherine Jenkins
I am a writer and I am also an ESL teacher. I lived in Asia for over 10 years. While in Korea, I met a Buddhist monk who later became my husband. We have been married for seven years. I am writing 365 lessons on my blog (one for each day of the year.) I am also working on a book called Lessons from the Monk I Married, which was recently sold by my agent to Seal Press/Perseus Books and will be published Spring 2012. The book, which is quite different from this blog, is about my 14-year journey with my husband, a former Korean Buddhist monk. I started this blog, Lessons from the Monk I Married, to share with you lessons I've learned for the year 2010. I also started a blog called Writers Rising, the name of my book group. I hope everyone who reads both blogs will be inspired enough to make their dreams become a reality.

365 Lessons-Lesson 354: Allow Yourself to Dream Big

BERJAYAIf you are going to spend a day dreaming, dream BIG. That's what I did today. I completely procrastinated. There were so many things to do and I didn't want to do ANY of them. I needed to write a book, write this blog, clean house, do some shopping. Nothing. Complete lethargy. I was off in La, La Land..off in my dreams.

I did enjoy myself. It wasn't a bad day. But instead of getting down to business, I allowed myself to daydream a bit too much. I doodled around, wrote some Christmas cards, paid a few bills, thumbed through a few magazines, made some preliminary plans for my vacation in March and that's about it. Yesterday I did write quite a bit of Chapter 8, but I was hoping to finish today. There are still a few hours to go before the night is completely over, so I have some time to redeem myself.

Instead of getting down on myself for having a day of doodling and daydreaming, I'm going to let it fly. After all, if it weren't for having a few dreams to daydream about, I wouldn't be where I am today. The problem occurs when it's all dreams and no action. I GET that part. You have to start building or else it's just a castle in the sky. You have to start taking steps toward your dreams. But it's good to know what your dreams are, otherwise how can you take the appropriate steps to get to where you want to go.

My dreams are BIG. I see them very clearly. I live from the answer. I live as if I am already there. I used to live in the mind set that I couldn't have certain things. That certain destinations in life were only for a privileged few. I don't feel that way anymore. I believe we all make our own lives. We decide what we want to do with the time we have. Usually I am very focused, but today I allowed myself a day of dreaming and it was good! Now back to business ^_^!

I love day dreaming. I think we connect to spirit and get into that cosmic wave on days like you just mentioned.

I have had some of my most profound moments it what start out as daydreams turning into me surfing through a big cosmic wave of peace and clarity. I say give yourself a day to dream!

By the way...you never wrote a post, how the first half you turned in on the book went over with the editor? At least I don't remember reading one. Fill us in before the 365 lessons are over...LOL

Yes, dreaming....whether it is day or night dreaming..puts us in contact with something divine within us. It is through accessing our dreams that we come to realize what we are meant to do in this world. When we honor our dreams, we honor the deeper part of ourselves that deserves to be heard. I'll fill you in on how the edits went..don't worry! Peace to you!
