What am I talking about? I'm talking about the END OF THE QUARTER!! I'm talking about the crazy mad rush to get it all done. There were tests to grade, exams to proctor, piles of papers to fill out and organize, checklists to cross off, filing to file, students to meet, hellos and goodbyes to speak, hands to shake and bodies to hug. It was all a whirlwind and now it is over until a new quarter starts on January 4th.
While at the Crafts Fair on campus, which I didn't plan to attend, but sort of got sucked into since I was next door getting my winter parking permit, I met some co-workers who were sipping hot cider and discussing their winter plans. They said, "Oh, Hi Kathy! Any big plans for winter break?" They were going to exotic places like Hawaii and Mexico and couldn't wait. I said, "Um, nope. Just going to stay home and write!" And that's the truth. One job is done and another is waiting and every single day in December I'm going to be squeezing out a book. It's time for this thing to be born! And I've got a deadline. Whoever invented that word should think of a new one. Any ideas? It just sounds so FINAL.
So I don't have much to write or share. It just feels good to be done. My husband just came home early, so maybe he'll take me out. I need a little celebration before I GET TO WORK on the next job. I realized that I really need to have little breaks and celebrations if I'm going to make it through. I can't be a work horse. I can't keep going unless I have something to look forward to. So I'm off to celebrate that I made it to the end of the quarter at school. And what a lovely quarter it was. Cheers everyone!

There is a street named BROTHERHOOD WAY in San Francisco. Where the street ends near Lake Merced, the street sign says, "End BROTHERHOOD."
This street is aptly named, since its residents are many religious organizations, some of which are: a Jewish synagogue, a Greek Orthodox church, and a Christ-centered Armenian evangelical church.
OK, I am done with my blog reading for this morning. Yes, it is good to be DONE, even with small projects. But I must do some laundry now. It will be good when my clothes are washed, dried, folded, and put away. Then I will be done with that (strangely enough, relaxing) task.
