CONGRATS TO THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE

About Bride Chic
Yes, here it finally is, the one we've all been waiting for, that defining dress that will influence bridal fashion from this day forward. Consider before Kate Middleton even stepped out of her limo today, designers and dressmakers everywhere were planning replicas of a gown they'd never laid eyes on... Is it possible you ask to duplicate Sarah Burton's masterpiece? We'll see. Kate, now HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, went for both traditional and understated elegance in a lace and ivory silk gown.

Topping off her look she wore a tiara and shorter waltz-length veil. The modified train (for Westminster Abbey that is) was no more than ten feet long. Echoes of Grace Kelly's gown are present in this design in the neckline and nipped in waist. Love the line of covered buttons down the back and at the wrists. Designer Burton is the creative director of Alexander McQueen's design house.

The flower girl costumes were created by childrenswear designer Nicki Macfarlane. The skirts were ballerina length and pleated with puffed sleeves. Adorable and within the English tradition were ivy and Lily-of-the-Valley headwreaths. Pippa Middleton acting as maid of honor also wore a gown by Sarah Burton that looked like it harked back to the Golden Age of Hollywood in crepe satin sporting a cowl neck Both Burton gowns have the same row-of button detailing down the back, a mark of true tradition in bridal wear.

The speculated $50,000 price tag on Kate's wedding dress is not astonishing considering the escalating price of couture despite a sluggish world economy. Consider in 1996 Carolyn Besette's simple body-hugging crepe slip by Narcisio Rodriguez cost $40,000; all I can say is the heck with cost, for me Kate's dress will always be priceless. Summer Wedding Flowers Inspiration: Pink Peony Tulips

Special to OneWed by Lisa W. for FiftyFlowers.com
Whether you're planning a bridal show, engagement brunch or bridesmaids luncheon, peony tulips are an unusual flower that will inspire a bright and cheerful table. Cyd Converse of The Sweetest Occasion (a nominee in OneWed's Best Wedding Blogs 2011 contest) designed and styled this darling display using wholesale flowers.

Playing off the lovely color of the blooms, Cyd creates a fun table runner with pretty paper supplied by Paper Mojo. The cut-outs resemble giant confetti and also make a whimsical backdrop to dress up any wedding venue. But it’s the peony tulips that take center stage, displayed wildly in tall vases and with as an accent at each place setting for a personalized touch. The happy scene is loaded with bright, punchy color and creativity. We love color for summer weddings and choosing a one-of-a-kind wedding flower is a sure way to get inspired!

Thank you, Cyd, for sharing this adorable wedding inspiration. For details on recreating this table, even more photos and ideas visit TheSweetestOccasion.com. And a special thanks goes out to Paper Mojo for the paper and Alice G. Patterson Photography for shooting this lovely scene.

Kate Middleton in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen: a Modern Day Grace Kelly

It's official! Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen is THE designer of Kate Middleton's royal wedding gown.
And royal it is! And classically beautiful, too. In fact, I can't help but draw a parallel to Grace Kelly's gown. When the old Hollywood beauty wed Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, in 1956, she wore a wedding dress designed by Helen Rose. This gown featured a full a-line princess silhouette, a waist-cinching bodice and long, lace sleeves. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

We're dying to hear your thoughts! Post a comment and tell us your take on Kate Middleton's wedding dress! Do you love? Kate Middleton's dress is like Grace Kelly's royal wedding gown

Royal Wedding Dresses Throughout History: How Will Kate's Look?

Apr 28th 2011 11:37am | by Azure
Save to Stuff I Love!
Kate Middleton's wedding dress designer is still a mystery....
Early favorite Bruce Oldfield told WWD.com that he was NOT dressing Kate for her big I Do's. And while we reported that Sophie Cranston of Libelula was the royal wedding dress designer (according to the Huffington Post), Cranston has vehemently denied making the dress.

Designers still in the running are Catherine Walker, Alice Temperley and Daniella Helayel from Issa. These tight-lipped ladies haven't confirmed or denied rumors of designing the royal gown. If you had to put your money on one designer, who would it be? It won't be long until we know for sure!

I stumbled upon a lovely look-back at royal wedding dresses throughout history on Vogue.com. With all the speculation surrounding Kate's royal wedding dress, I wanted to share these photos with you!

I'm dying to see Kate's wedding dress and I'm most curious about the train... will she stay true to royal tradition with a dramatic train or embrace her modern style with a more contemporary bridal look? What do you think?

Rustic Vintage-Inspired Wedding with DIY Details: Alison and Andrew

Featured Wedding by Simply Rose Photography
Andrew and Alison's March 26th wedding was the perfect mix of rustic chic and vintage charm. This gorgeous couple incorporated lots of pretty DIY details, details that helped tell the story of their wedding day.

The wedding venue for the ceremony and reception was a heritage building in Smithers, BC, the Old Church. Staggered birch logs of various sizes were topped with vintage Mason jars of tealights, green and white paper lanterns were strung from the ceiling and the reception tables were set up with glass vases of simple wedding flower arrangements of branches, daisies and button mums. It was all very pretty and organic, and I loved the green, white and black wedding color palette.

After a few struggles with getting Andrew’s wedding ring on, there was the ceremony kiss that sealed the deal and the couple walked down the aisle to be greeted by close family and friends. There was plenty of time for visiting and eating delicious appetizers before a Greek-inspired meal prepared by the ever-wonderful ladies at Two Sisters Catering, Janet and Christine. Wedding Dresses and Reception Frocks: 10 That Break Tradition

On tomorrow's SYWBAD live elimination show, I'll be critiquing the unconventional wedding dress designs of four up-and-coming designers. So today I thought it'd be fun to spotlight some non-traditional wedding dresses that are lovely as can be!
I'm happy that 2011 brides are forgoing tradition and honoring their unique styles by choosing non-traditional wedding dresses. Whether it's the hue (buttery yellow, cotton candy pink, pale blue), the neckline or the hem length, it's easy to stand out and make a statement.

How traditional will your wedding day look be? Have you selected a classic wedding dress or are you loving these offbeat bridal creations?

Royal Wedding Style Inspiration: Bridal Head Chic

Apr 27th 2011 1:44pm | by Azure

Thanks to the royal wedding craze and Kate Middleton's enviable style, bridal head chic is more dramatic, haute couture-inspired and fabulous than ever before!
Check out these statement-making bridal hats by Kitty Andrews Millinery! Aren't they lovely? The first couple styles are perfect for the princess-to-be. I especially love the pillbox hat adorned with on-trend feather flowers in photo 1.

The rest of the hats are royal wedding ready, too! Can't you picture the Queen wearing one of the pink or blue stunners? Ok... maybe not. But I'll bet Kate has some stylish friends and I can guarantee Friday's momentous event will be brimming over (pun intended) with wedding head chic!

What do you think of the wedding hat craze? Will you sport a wedding hat instead of a bridal veil? Or will you save the hat for a wedding you'll attend this summer? Either way, we want to see your wedding head chic so we can share your style!
