PSN Service Restoration Update
- BERJAYA 14 Comments
The PSN Blog has posted the latest update on the PlayStation Network outage. Although Sony has begun the process of restoring the service, it sounds like they still have a LOT of internal testing to do. Last week Sony held a press conference in Japan, and based on what they knew at the time they estimated that the servers would be online within a week. But at that time they were not aware of the full extent of the attack on SOE's servers. As such, the whole "within a week" thing has been removed from the table.

The Morning Juberish
- BERJAYA 9 Comments
Yesterday my 2 year old nephew cacked his diapers in a big way. I think it could have actually been a record breaker! Like, this ball of crap was enormous. So what do you do when you see the world's largest poo by an infant? You take a picture, of course! And then you start randomly messaging it to people. That was my Friday. What are you all up to this weekend?

  • Added alternate route around boat mast – please give feedback.

The Left 4 Dead Blog has also been updated with more on Cold Stream testing and the following snippet on the next DLC:

Midnight Riders?
The upcoming DLC is our experiment in not having a story tied to the DLC. While we are working on that, we also wanted to keep expanding the story and world of Left 4 Dead. We like comics, in fact we just released one yesterday for TeamFortress 2. So we were thinking about another comic. What about one starring the Midnight Riders? Vote in this week's in-game poll and let us know what you think.

Super Meaty Level Editor
- BERJAYA 1 Comment
Creative types with a fondness for Super Meat Boy have reason to rejoice today, as do those that want more Meat Boy action. A full level editor has been released on Steam for PC users that want to expand the Meaty universe through the creation of new levels for this popular, fun and funky game. Here's the word:

The Super Meat Boy Level Editor is FINALLY out on Steam!

We always wanted to release a basic level editor, but the idea started to balloon when we decided to buy servers and program a fully automated level portal (Super Meat World) to support these levels as a bonus chapter for the PC version.

So here are the basic facts:
-Users have the ability to create anything they have seen in game, minus bosses and warp zones.
-Users can then upload their levels to Super Meat World where they can be played and voted on by the community.
-Users can also take their uploaded levels and create full chapters with par times, custom titles and music.
-Users can choose from a full cast of 20 characters to play as in their levels and chapters, regardless of if they have unlocked them in the main game.
-Awesome chapters and levels will be hand picked by Team Meat and become featured as "recommended chapters".
-The level editor is FREE, a final gift from Team Meat to the fans who have supported us.

The Level editor can be launched on Steam by going into Tools and selecting The SMB level editor (1mb download).

Super Meat World is unlocked by completing 2 full chapters or collecting 20 bandages in the main game and appears to the left of Ch1 on the overworld map.

We will be doing one more update to SMW next week adding a few missing features and fixing up a couple editor bugs. After that we will be closing the book on the PC version, porting SMB to Mac and swiftly moving on to game #2 (because we cant seem to stay happy without working on something constantly).

Its been surreal everyone! thanks for all of the solid support and love, its time to hand the reigns to the SMB community and retire.

Art of Games: Winning Games
- BERJAYA 2 Comments
Have we all heard about “The Art of Video Games” Exhibition that will open at the Smithsonian American Art Museum March 16th, 2012? The vote was held to determine the games that would represent the industry, and voting took place between Feb. 14 and April 17 of this year where more than 3.7 million votes came in from 119,000 people in 175 countries, and you can now check out the list of 80 games that won in the winning games list. I've also included the video with the exhibition’s curator, Chris Melissinos, founder of Past Pixels and collector of video games and gaming systems, and exhibition coordinator Georgina Goodlander talking about the games that were voted in and the games that will be available for the public to try at the exhibition. That's right baby, games is art, so stick that in your fancy pants!

League of Legends Art Video: Vayne, the Night Hunter
- BERJAYA 0 Comments
Want to see how a super sweet looking game character comes to life? IT all starts with the art, and in this new video you'll see how the Vayne, the Night Hunter character is created in sped up fashion.

If there's anything that Vayne teaches us it's that even if you're at home in the shadows, it never hurts to look good. And while we're on the subject of looking good, Riot Games artists Katie DeSousa and Wes Keil are here to bring you a warden of the night that's as fierce as the vile creatures she hunts, yet as captivating as the midnight moon. While the heels of steel and ruby red glasses might show off her elegant sense of style, don't let that fool you. Her crossbows still let you know she means business.

Watch our artists shine a ray of light onto her darkened visage in this high speed rendering of Vayne, the Night Hunter.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Devs Serious About PC Support
- BERJAYA 36 Comments
It's supposedly Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC Week, and Square Enix revealed to PC Gamer exclusively this week that Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the PC will indeed use DirectX 11. This includes some use of tessellation, something that Nvidia has been pushing for the industry to adopt for some time.

PC Gamer also reveals that the development team is working to offer full AMD Eyefinity support for up to five displays. To sweeten lhe deal it'll even be possible to run 3D over just as many screens, even though the effect would probably be lost on the 1st and 5th panels.

Finally, the Deus Ex: Human Revolution game engine was supposedly built with multi-core CPUs in mind. Eidos representatives state that even a dual core setup and bring about increased frame rates, sometimes by as much as 70%. You can see an AMD based triple screen setup for yourself in the video below. As a sidenote I'd imagine NVIDIA users will be able to enjoy these setups as well, at least up to three screens.

L.A. Noire Packs Serious Heat On The Xbox 360, But Slim On PS3
- BERJAYA 40 Comments
Twitter, blogs, and forums abound are buzzing with pretty ridiculous complaints and concerns following the announcement that L.A. Noire on the Xbox 360 will ship on 3 DVDs, whereas the PS3 version will fit nicely on one single blu-ray disc.

According to those that have gotten a confirmation out of Rockstar on the matter the company has taken the annoyances of swapping into consideration, and have already structured the title so that it will not become obnoxious on the Xbox 360.

I personally don't care, it's still a 25-hour game if you were to skip side missions and rush all of the detective work, more if you actually try to check out everything. I'd like to imagine that there will only be two swap points through an entire playthrough.

What are your thoughts? Will this news have any impact on your platform of choice?

Team Fortress 2 Update Adds Replays, New Hats, Saxxy Awards
- BERJAYA 4 Comments
Valve is looking for a few good men to put together fan films using a new replay system in Team Fortress 2. The prize? Well, you'll have a shot at being recognized during the upcoming First Annual Saxxy Awards of course. But wait, there's more!

Upon uploading a Team Fortress 2 video to Youtube and earning 1,000 views players will gain access to a new in-game hat unlock (of course). Then after earning the "Star Of My Own Show" achievement new taunts will open up as well. We're not sure yet though if the Saxxy Awards are actually going to take place, or if there will be any rewards. It's a mystery!

Head on over to the Team Fortress Blog to get the whole scoop, then fire up Steam to get the update so you can continue playing dress-up with your FPS dollies.

Sony Plans To Provide Identity Theft Protection To All Affected Users
- BERJAYA 12 Comments
Sony updated their blog again, this time with news of a plan to provide users affected by the data breach with a free 12 month "AllClear ID Plus" identity theft protection plan through Debix, Inc. Here are a few details on what exactly the service will provide:

  • Cyber monitoring and surveillance of the Internet to detect exposure of an AllClear ID Plus customer’s personal information, including monitoring of criminal web sites and data recovered by law enforcement. If his/her personal information is found, the customer will be alerted by phone and/or email and will be provided advice and support regarding protective steps to take. The customer will also receive monthly identity status reports. Debix works with an alliance of cyber-crime experts from the government, academia and industry to provide these services.
  • Priority access to licensed private investigators and identity restoration specialists. If an AllClear ID Plus customer receives an alert, or otherwise suspects that he/she may be the victim of identity theft, the customer can speak directly, on a priority basis, with an on-staff licensed private investigator, who will conduct a comprehensive inquiry. In the case of an identity theft, the customer can work with an identity restoration specialist to contact creditors and others, and take necessary steps to restore the customer’s identity.
  • A $1 million identity theft insurance policy per user to provide additional protection in the event that an AllClear ID Plus customer becomes a victim of identity theft. This insurance would provide financial relief of up to $1 million for covered identity restoration costs, legal defense expenses, and lost wages that occur within 12 months after the stolen identity event.
Emails with even more details should start to go out over the next few days according to Sony. According to reports elsewhere June 18th will be the deadline to take advantage of the free service plan, and the 12 month duration will start on the day of registration.

In Other News... Dental Funtime = Stroke Face
- BERJAYA 35 Comments
I had a fun little dental visit yesterday, first time actually with the owner of the practice. The associate dentist that I normally had my work done with moved on to a practice closer to her home, and I wasn't down with the commute. As I'm going over my history with the new guy I mentioned a story from about 8 years back where I had gotten a pretty epic adrenaline rush after an oral surgeon accidentally pumped some novacaine with epinephrine into a vein. The new dentist wanted to go out of his way to avoid that of course, and that's where things got really fun.

So I'm laying back in the chair, and he decides to spring some new alternative to novocaine on me which was only approved for use in the US something like five years ago. He started with just half a tube of the stuff, and let me tell you after that I could have literally had my face replaced without batting an eye. I immediately went numb from my lips all the way up to my eyelids on the right side of my face. I could not feel anything really, blinking was the weirdest thing ever.

I spent a good five hours afterwards looking like I had a stroke, and even twelve hours in It's still wearing off which is a little weird / new. for me. It's good I couldn't feel anything, but that level of numbing might be a little extreme for minor dentistry. What's the weirdest experience you've ever had in the chair?

Since I've still got The Witcher 2 on the brain here's another very slightly NSFW video of the day which should help get your weekend off to a great start. Just makes you wonder though, how the heck did something like that come out of Michigan?
