2010 annual top 50: loved.

“2010 year-end reviews need to be completed before the end of the first quarter of the following year”

Okay, I totally made that rule up… I’m just trying to justify our annual top 50 lists being done in MARCH… EEEEEKS!

What can I say… It’s been a crazy few months. Don’t be mad ;)

I have SO much to share with you all. :D And can’t wait to!* …I just haven’t had time to sit down and write it all out. Hopefully soon. :)

In the meantime… here they are… our annual top 50: engagement/couples in love :D

When I look back on a years worth of images… I couldn’t be more proud, honored and grateful. Thanks to each and every single one of you for letting us peak into your lives.

…I love my job.

Yay! I love these yearly lists. It’s so much fun to rediscover my favorites from your photos. These are absolutely amazing. Can you imagine what next year is going to be like??

grateful.

First and foremost I just want to say… I love you guys. Really, I do. You make me want to be a better person. You motivate me to keep giving my 1000%. Your support means more to me than I could ever express.

I’ve been feeling so incredibly loved.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

You know, I canNOT believe that we’re leaving for Las Vegas TOMORROW! Feeling excited, anxious and a wee bit overwhelmed. That’s expected I suppose. :D

As for my lack of updates this week… it’s been ten times busier than I ever expected it to be. I’ve gotten more accomplished in the last week or so than I have in months. So much going on… and I can’t WAIT to share it all with you!

Oh, and the “dress, me” contest…

I can’t TELL you how much you guys helped. Not only did you send incredible suggestions… but the tips that you sent?! I’m so thankful for each and every single one of you. I know I say this all of the time… but… I really do have THE best blog readers around. Thank you for caring about me. Really. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. :) Bottom line, I’ve never had more fun shopping/felt better about myself than I did that day… ALLLL thanks to you! I went out armed with so many more ideas and concepts and for the first time in a VEERRRRRYYY long time… I went outfit shopping and actually ENJOYED it.  You guys really have no idea… thank you so so so SO much!  Wow, how many times can I say thank you in one post?! sheesh!

I’ll share more about my shopping experience after we get back from Vegas… because I have LOTS to share! So many of you out there emailed and said that they could have written every word that I did that day and struggle in the same departments as I do. SO… I’ll share much of what I discovered!

All of that being said, It’s hard to pick a winner… I didn’t pick out one particular outfit… but had all of my favorite styble boards with me… and kept all of your tips and suggestions in mind while shopping. I wish that I could afford to give every single one of you a gift card… because really, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU HELPED!!!!!

There were a few of them that really stood out to me.

So, instead of picking one winner… I picked nine. :)

Okay… as a quick reminder… we are speaking at a platform class the morning, 8am on Monday, February 21st. I know it’s early but, we’ll try our hardest to make it worth your while, interesting and fun… We promise!

If you haven’t already, preboard to come see us speak (or to see my outfit :D). I didn’t practice what I preach and forgot to pre-board many of my favorite speakers and now all of the pre-board tickets are gone. :( JUST DO IT!

Oh, and if you happen to see us out and about… say hello and throw some high fives. :D  Though, just an FYI… our schedule is a little jam packed… so if we’re running away in the midst of the high five… please don’t take it personally!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

See you there!

Your grateful, somewhat frazzled redheaded friend,

omg.i am on your blog! yeah that’s right I just turned into a teenage girl on you. I can’t wait to see and hear tales of your whippy trippy(my nickname for wppi).

Catlin HumesFebruary 23, 2011 - 12:05 am

We love you bobbi! I bet you look smokin’!

valerieFebruary 22, 2011 - 11:20 pm

K, what can I say, I knew you guys would rock at the expo. That is why I was sitting in the second row looking at you two all doey eyed (is that the right expression?) I loved your energy and the fact that you actually TAUGHT me something. I wasn’t too happy aobut a few of my other classes that taught me nothing except that the speakers were better photographers then I and they wanted us to know it. I mean if I had to hear AGAIN that
B & D Davis made Oprah cry with their photo book one more time I was gonna loose it. After all the speal on Oprah, they told us to BELIEVE in our selves…the end. Yeah, that bad. And heaven knows after Grecco’s hour and half slide show of all the celebs he shot, I realized that I hadn’t learned anything except that that guy shoots celebs and I don’t.(I am sure they all have sweet spirits, whateve’s) I guess what I am trying to say is you guys were one of the few I felt I walked away with something. Any way, thank you thank you for giving advice, showing a few examples, telling us what to do if you have Bridezilla on your hands or tornado sirens going off. Good gosh, I have the same *awesome* rambling problem you do Bobbi ;) Kudos to you two, you did an amazing job. And you better believe I am posting my picture with you two on my blog, but just cause’ I think you two are super cool, not cause’ I am a Creepy McCreeperson. I hope you guys get to speak next year too, I will for sure be there!

JenFebruary 22, 2011 - 2:15 pm

Bobbi! I was in your class, and I have to say – you were amazing and have changed my life! Thanks for the inspiration! I have been dying to ask you who the artist was who was set to your final slide show…I MUST have them on my playlist….AMAZING! Thanks again!

CassieFebruary 21, 2011 - 6:30 pm

YAY for having fun shopping!! Have a blast in Vegas!

SabrinaFebruary 19, 2011 - 10:46 am

Your blog posts ALWAYS make me smile, but this one maybe a wee bit more than most. So happy that YOU are happy as you fly off to the Land of Vegas! Have a wonderful time while wowing everyone there, then come home to Indy where we love you and want you to stay long enough for our kiddos to grow up and fall in love and plan their weddings so they can pick YOU. So now, really, you know my plan. ;)

angel canaryFebruary 18, 2011 - 8:30 pm

Yeah, at first I thought, geez, 8am?!? But then I remembered we’re {I think} 3 hours difference, so it’s not that bad. I’m sure it’s worth it! ;) See you there in Vegas!!!!!!!!!

kymberli q.February 18, 2011 - 6:49 pm

Not gonna lie…excited I won, but happy that I helped too! It was fun! Can’t wait to see what you picked up! Have fun in Vegas!!

Ashley GillettFebruary 18, 2011 - 5:54 pm

Oh yay! I’m so glad my tips helped!! I should take some of my own advice and go shopping too. :) I can’t wait for you to post some pics of your new duds. xoxo

Katy DeJongFebruary 18, 2011 - 5:31 pm

I’ve registered! See you SOON!!!

Rich ParkFebruary 18, 2011 - 3:13 pm

and you motivate and inspire all of us! thank you for all you do! hope you have an amazing time at wppi!

cherronFebruary 18, 2011 - 2:59 pm

Yay! I’m so happy the shopping trip went well. I need a good shopping trip in my future.

And thank YOU for being you. You inspire me, and tons of other people, not only in your photography, but just towards being a better person. Everyone could use a little sunshiney rainbow happy Bobbi in their life.

dress me, update.

HOLY AMAZINGNESS BLOG READERS!!!!!! FIFTY FOUR of you sent in outfit suggestions… FIFTY FOUR!!!!!!

…really excited about many of them :)

Lloyd - Edmonton Boudoir PhotographyFebruary 16, 2011 - 2:05 am

Just discovered your site! You take beautiful photographs! You should be proud not only of your skills but also how you look. You look great and deserve to feel great about yourself. Looking at the picture in the last post, I don’t see any reason to have body insecurities. Sorry, I’m not fashion inclined so I don’t have any wardrobe suggestions. =) Again, awesome work.

Lauren StinsonFebruary 15, 2011 - 9:32 pm

Love it! When are the rest of the Top 50′s for 2010 coming?

AmyFebruary 11, 2011 - 3:32 pm

OH.MY.GOODNESS! You we’re the cutest toddler ever. Those dimples are to die for… well, still are :)

I can’t wait to see your outfit pics! I didn’t send anything because I am NO fashionista what so ever! I too am a shortie. 5’2″ so I have clothes issues myself. I live in jeans and a hoodie. I need help!

MartaVFebruary 11, 2011 - 2:57 pm

Awwww! How cute are you as a toddler! Just want to wish you luck with the shopping.

dress me, please!

It’s no secret that I’m not a fashionable person.  I’ll ALWAYS choose comfort over fashion.  Most of you know that I live in a hoodie…

I’ve always wanted to be fashionable. I don’t think I’m incapable of it. I’ve just had body insecurities my entire life. Well, strike that… I’ve had body insecurities since I was 9 years old. You see, I was the first girl in my grade that had to wear a bra because I was growing boobs. Yes, BOOBS in the THIRD GRADE! Yeah, maybe this is TMI for some of you but come ON… I’m a girl… and girls have BOOBS! ;)

Soon after that, my Mom married a country guy. You know… home-cookin’ country guy. We lived in what felt like the middle of nowhere where we ate fried chicken and drank whole milk. That was during my pre-teen years… The years you start to turn into a woman. Well, it was then that my battle with weight started.

Well, now I’ve lost weight. Strike that… I’ve lost a LOT of weight!

Now, I’m not where I want to be.  I still have about 20 lbs to go.  But the stink of it is that I still see allllll of those problem areas I had 50 lbs-ish ago when I look in a mirror. Insecurities aren’t something that just go away. I SO wish they would. I’m sick of not feeling great about myself! I feel like I’ve earned confidence. But, as many of you know… it’s just not that easy… it’s not a light switch that you can just turn off and on.

I was hoping to lose an extra 10 lbs before the photo convention in Las Vegas that’s in 1.5 weeks (AHHHHH!) and have been putting off buying clothes until that happened. Well, my stress levels leading up to it haven’t helped in that arena. Again, not gaining was enough to make me feel victorious!

This is where you come in… IT’S A CONTEST!!!!!!

I, sadly, am not good at dressing for my body type… and was hoping that some of you out there would be much better at it than me. I essentially need four outfits for Vegas.  You send me what you think will work… if I pick yours, you’ll receive a $10 iTunes gift card!  I’ll pick between one and four winners. :D

I warn you now… I’m TOUGH to buy for!

Things you’ll need to keep in mind:

  • I’m quite frugal. But, will spend on staple wardrobe items (jeans, jackets, etc).
  • My bust and hips are the exact same measurement. My waist is about 6.5″ smaller.
  • Problem areas: belly, breasts and arms (I’ve always carried a lot of weight in my arms. That’s why I don’t wear tank tops ;) )
  • I’m convinced that the size of my chest adds the appearance of 20 extra lbs.  I VERY much struggle with finding clothes that flatter me because of this.
  • Also, I have cleavage in everything… and not on purpose! It’s just the way it is. In high school I wore a turtle neck with everything.
  • Speaking of that… I’m pretty modest. I suppose that comes with the territory!
  • I like quirky stuff. I don’t like looking like everyone else.
  • I have very strong calves. Strangely strong. Taller boots don’t fit me. :( That makes me jealous of those that can.
  • I still have 15+ lbs to lose before I feel great about myself.
  • clothes from stores like Anthropologie, J.Crew, ModCloth, etc. don’t usually fit me because of my aforementioned large chest.
  • I have very short legs… even for a short person. Petites still have to be altered to fit.
  • I struggle in uncomfortable shoes. I SO wish that weren’t the case! I think that to wear uncomfortable shoes, you have to have been wearing them since you were very young. Your muscles and feet form to fit them. I went from waiting tables in Shoes for Crews to combat boots in the Army… Now all of my shoes look like they were made for old nurses. Not that there is anything wrong with being an old nurse!

Here’s a recent photo of my body. :) A confession… because of bullet point 4 (that my chest adds the appearance of 20 extra lbs), for my healthy train photos, I use a chip clip to pull my shirt back so that I can see the changes in my waist better ;) Don’t judge me!

BERJAYA

See, told you it’d be a challenge!

If you’re up to it… send me an inspiration board with what you think will be an amazing outfit. Also include where I can buy it and how much it costs. I’ll pick a winner (or four!) on Friday morning. Email me at style(at)bobbiandmike.com

Oh, and… a quick disclaimer: Because I’m doing this with online shopping, that doesn’t guarantee that I’ll love the outfit once it gets here or I go try it on. So, if you see me in Vegas and I’m not wearing the winning outfit… you’ll understand. :D

Thank you all SO much for being such a big part of my life. I would be absolutely honored to wear an outfit that our incredible blog readers picked out for me.

~bobbi

PS. I won’t be surprised if I get zero contest entries… my list of “things to keep in mind” is a bit intimidating!

BTW, you look great and I love your work!

barbieFebruary 15, 2011 - 2:39 pm

sears has cute stuff right now – i would say an army green jacket/blazer with a fun colorful skinny scarf (turquoise) and some fun dangling earrings with dark, boot cut jeans (i like the gap long and lean, and i am short!), really elongates stuff for me. :) and clearance at tj maxx or marshalls has all kinds of brands, and fun accessories. have fun with it! wedge heels (not too tall, like born or kenneth cole reaction) work best with any outfit! OR, better yet….real cowboy boots always make me feel great!

LindsayFebruary 11, 2011 - 3:43 pm

I’m laughing out loud that I’m commenting on fashion. I am also a hoodie and t-shirt wearer. 99% of the time. I’m also not terribly qualified because I have the opposite problem of you in the boob area. My boobs are nearly concave. Yep, you heard me, concave. I’m practically a boy in that area. Sad. Good thing I can wear really padded bras to fool people. :) Anyway, I refuse to be uncomfortable in clothes. And after having 3 babies, I have plenty of problem areas in the stomach and hips.
A few suggestions. Wear shirts that you can wear another “shirt” under (like a cami). You can get a tight cami that sort of sucks everything in. Or, sometimes I wear a compression exercise shirt under my clothes (gasp, I’m letting out my secrets) because it really sucks everything in. I discovered them to wear while working out because I hate when things jiggle when I run (not my boobs obviously, but my butt).
There’s some cute, casual, shirts at aeropostale right now. Long sleeve that you can roll up which I think can slim out the arms (totally making that up but it sounded good. And who knows maybe it’s true). You can wear a tight cami under these to hold things in. :) http://www.aeropostale.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10755432&cp=3534618.3534619.3534623.3541050.3536151.1988321
And for shoes, I’m generally a flip flop girl because I can’t stand socks and shoes make my feet feel clausterphobic (no idea how to spell that but I don’t want to google It). I just got the.most.comfortable.shoes.ever from Old Navy. Seriously. If you buy some and don’t agree, I’ll buy them back from you. I’m that confident you’ll love them. I bought two pair (one gray and one pink). They’re amazing.http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=55148&vid=1&pid=820546&scid=820546022 They’re called the women’s two-tone sneakers. And I get compliments on them all the time. And you could literally wear them all day and forget you have shoes on. It’s practically being bare foot. And I don’t exaggerate (really, I don’t).
As for pants. Try the store Buckle and look at Lucky’s. I don’t know why, but Lucky’s are generally very flattering for the butt.
Good luck! I’m preboarded for you class in vegas and I can’t wait!!!!

LizFebruary 11, 2011 - 2:11 pm

I totally get you on the shoe thing – I want to wear heels so bad, but I’ve got a two year old and a 7 month old and schlepping them around in heels is just begging for disaster. HOWEVER, I found the most amazing wedges ever at Target that I would recommend to anyone. They are called Women’s Merona® Myka Suede Wedge Shoe and if you just search for that on their website you’ll see that they come in lots of different colors. They are super cute and they’ve got tons of great padding in them so they don’t destroy your foot. I will warn you though, they run a touch small so I’d get a half size bigger.

As for the outfit, I would say a cute printed shirt or tank with a structured jacket looks great or you seriously cannot go wrong with a wrap dress. And jewelry! Accessories are a great way to either dress up or down and outfit.

Good luck! :)

Abra MichelleFebruary 11, 2011 - 12:48 am

I think you looked great last year and you will look even greater this year with your extra shed pounds. Relax and be yourself because that’s why you are loved by SOOOO many. Nothing beats your unique YOUness and style.

Malea E.February 11, 2011 - 12:38 am

All I have to say is you guys are freaking cute!! Love Love Love your work, style, your red hair!! Wish I could attend your class this year!!

BethanieFebruary 10, 2011 - 4:24 pm

Congratulations on WPPI Bobbi! I am a HUGE, HUGE fan of yours and so sad I can’t make it to WPPI! Someday, hopefully next year! I follow your blog, scratch that, stalk your blog, you are such an inspiration to me. :)
I can totally relate to having body issues. I recently, well in the last 3 years lost 100lbs. I am little now, size 4, but still have a 34 DD bust and a tummy less than desirable. I struggle with clothing so much.

Anyway, wanted to play a long, so here is my set, recommendation:
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=28132258

I love bootcut jeans! I know you hate your arms, but loved the tube top with the jacket over top. I have seen pictures of you enough to know you love jackets. Thought the nerd shirts was fun with a bright jacket. You can’t go wrong with some great ballet flats too. Hope this helps!!

Good luck friend!
Bethanie

LeahFebruary 10, 2011 - 2:17 pm

Oh Bobbi! This post wants to make me sing Beautiful by Christiana Aguilar or Your’e Beautiful or some KIND of beautiful song!! I think it is awesome the amount of weight you have lost but don’t get stuck with the crazy idea that your weight has anything to do with your worth or even your beauty!! We all have ideals for our bodies but sometimes our bodies have different ideals! It took me 34 years to figure out my body rocks! Yes, even after two kids and a baby belly and breast feeding boobs! It is ok that I am not perfect and I will NEVER again get on the “hamster wheel” of I am not good enough. Even if you get to your ideal weight you will still have big boobs! And you will probably have arms that you think are too big but it is good enough. You are strong and healthy and it makes me sad to see a vibrant, beautiful, and awesome women doubting herself! Seriously, learn to love yourself flaws and all! I can’t even tell you how much my confidence has went up once I realized my body is good enough.
Now go get fitted for a bra (yes, this can be life changing) and good luck with the perfect outfit!

AmyFebruary 10, 2011 - 9:03 am

made my submission :)

AliFebruary 10, 2011 - 8:24 am

Bobbi, You always look so cute. What you are doing now is working! But if you want new stuff, go to a Nordstrom and find a personal shoppper – they are FREE! You should be able to find some key pieces and if you make them aware of your budget they will work within it. Good luck!

Amy (Smith)February 10, 2011 - 8:23 am

If you have a few free hours one day (haha, I know!!) you may want to stop at the Banana Republic outlet in Edinburgh. I’m short and very hard to shop for and I always seem to find jeans, shirts, dresses, even comfy clothes at very affordable prices. They have a range of sizes and an entire petite section. The outlet is much cheaper and typically everything is an additional 30-50% off. I also seem to have luck with the Loft, Francesca’s (Castelton mall), and sometimes Old Navy. Have a blast in Vegas … you and Mike are going to be AMAZING speakers!!!!!

Stacy MurphyFebruary 10, 2011 - 8:17 am

BOBBI… ****WHAAAAAAAAT GIRL??**** Okay, this post is too funny because it just goes to show how we are all our own WORST critics!!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat here looking at YOUR CUTE personal photos thinking, “Dang, *I* really need to get some style!” It’s not all about size. Don’t be fooled. I wear a size 4 and have no boobs… but I still hate the way clothes look on me and I don’t feel comfortable in them! I LIVE in jeans and my favorite shoes are KEEN (they’re ORANGE!). Love them. Anyway, I just want to say I think you have GREAT STYLE! You ALWAYS look hip. I LOVE your fun red hair and your funky sense of color and how you’re always in groovy jackets and bright happy colors. Maybe YOU don’t think you have style, but *I* do and I’m always envious!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY WITH IT and BE WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!! I have found that when I let other people try to dress me it just never works b/c they want me to wear what THEY want me to wear, not what *I* want to wear… so I always feel weird. You are VERY stylish and FUN and gorgeous… and trust me, NO ONE will remember what you wore to WPPI!!! What they WILL remember is how hysterically funny you were and your AMAZING smile! So just grab something out of your closet and go with it and be the fabulous Bobbi we all know and love!!!!!!!!!! Stacy

TracieBFebruary 10, 2011 - 7:08 am

Bobbi!! For your muscular calves, the BEST boot site is http://www.duo.com. You measure your calves and the boots will fit perfectly! The company is in England, but shipping to the US isn’t bad at all. It’s perfect for those of us with muscular legs as well as those with skinny legs. Check it out!

Kirsten MavricFebruary 10, 2011 - 5:58 am

Bobbi, I think you should embrace your curves and go with a Mad Men style look – http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1385&bih=976&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=mad+men+fashion+inspiration+board&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=

You don’t need to wear high heels, just cute dresses with ballet pumps. LOVE this – http://www.havanaboutique.co.uk/fwm-springsummer-2011/

And how cute is this? http://www.anthropologie.eu/printed/take-action-dress/invt/7130464144415/

RosjuaneFebruary 10, 2011 - 3:09 am

Ok so I don’t have the boob issue. Or at least not the big ones but I do suggest a good bra. Thats key. It hurts my feelings to spend a ton of money on them but it’s very important. I just dot buy many. One nude and one black. Wear them out and replace. I am however a shoe fanatic. And short. I will wear any shoe as long as it fits outfit. But I do have some tips from buying a million pair. Boots… I can totally see u in some biker like boots. Flat and totally cute. I will see if I can find some tomorrow an come back to post. Summer wedges are the way to go. Gives u the height wo walking around in heels. And totally could run a marathon. As far as clothes go first let me say the sundress u wore last year totally adorable. I am the girl who will buy one in every color as long as it makes me look good. Forever 21 is a super fun place to shop. Soooooo cheap so u can buy more later wo breaking the bank. Super trendy. Now u have the boobs to hide belly. I don’t but the tops that have banding across the bottom is the way to do it. Plain comfy and hide a small child in in while looking totally hot!!! I swear u could double half todays fashion as maternity clothes and I think it’s fab!!! I will again try to post some ex tomorrow. Jeans. I’m hate buying jeans!! It’s so hard to find them for shortys. So find u a good tailor who can hen and keep original seam. Most places such as buckle will do that. I’m currently liking my “IT” jeans. They come up higher I hate low rise bc nobody wants to see ur split in the back. But also I have to have something that comes over the Dunlap. Hiding the belly and the muffin top on the sides. That takes off 20lbs. They stretch so they are comfy wo leaving u with a saggy bottom. U do need a belt but u don’t look like someone who has worn a diaper in the water after 3 hours or even 3 days cause yes mam I wear them at least twice if I can get away with it. Hope this helps. I will try todo more tomorrow. It’s all in the clothes. If ur clothes fit right u could convice anyone u are a skinny under them. Optical illusion!!

NickiFebruary 10, 2011 - 1:15 am

Bobbi,

I worked for Nordstromfor 14 years and I can tell you that they have the best experts in the business of finding the perfect bra for any size! They also match prices so if you find the same item somewhere else for cheaper they will match it!!! You will look perfect in anything you wear! I can’t wait to be inspired by you and your hubby! Adore you!

jennFebruary 9, 2011 - 11:41 pm

I’m not great at fashion and always loved how some people look so fun and put together at the same time. I recently hired a stylist and it was the best experience ever. She went through my closet to see what I had to work with and what needed to be donated away and then we went shopping to pick out the rest of the pieces. It was like me but better, a little out of my comfort zone but not too far. It’s great knowing I can put on an outfit and not wonder if it looks great or not. I’m in Vancouver so no use giving you her name but I’m sure you have someone local who does the same thing.

MaryFebruary 9, 2011 - 9:50 pm

Bobbi…..first thing tommorrow…trip to Nordstrom for a bra fit. It will be LIFE CHANGING!!! My daughter is very well endowed and after a fitting there she has the first bra EVER that fits and is comfortable and puts the “girls” where they should be. Yes, they are very expensive, but it makes everything else look like it should!!! You absolutely cannot skimp on bras.

AlisonFebruary 9, 2011 - 9:47 pm

You have no idea how happy this post makes me. I know that is weird, but really. I was starting to feel like I was going to be the only one at WPPI not wearing Anthropologie and such. Neither my body nor my wallet will allow it. I completely and totally hear you. I have lost a huge amount of weight and still have another 23 pounds to go. People keep telling me I don’t have more to lose, but it is very much there. I have come to accept no matter what I do, there are going to be areas I am not comfortable with. I have stretchmarks from my arms down, so I will always keep those out of sight. My stomach is slowly shrinking but I don’t know that it will ever be somethign I am comfortable with. BUT I am also learning slowly to see the things that have changed and focus on accenting the positive things! I am the last person to put together looks (I took friends wtih me to buy clothes for WPPI cause I am clueless!) but I totally second the polyvore.com idea! Look forward to seeing you, regardless of what you are wearing!!!

SusanFebruary 9, 2011 - 9:40 pm

I haven’t read any of the comments yet, but I can tell you first things first….YOU NEED A NEW WELL-FITTED BRA!!! You must go to Nordstroms…they do great fitting there and offer a wonderful selection of bras. Ask for the Wacoal minimizing bra. It will change how you look instantly! Seriously…they are THAT good. Expect to pay quite a bit for it…..this isn’t crap-ass Victoria’s Secret…..this is a kick ass bra. I wouldn’t be surprised if it cost between $60-75…but it is a must have. You have to have a solid foundation before you put anything else on your body. The best outfit in the world will look like shit if your boobs aren’t the right bra. Good luck with your outfits!

Tricia O'ConnorFebruary 9, 2011 - 9:36 pm

you know, I am not about to tell you what to wear but I battle a lot of the same issues, I have shorter legs and a long torso and sorta big boobs, I would go with stuff that is longer waisted I think weather it is long sleaves or long length–all this short waisted S*&^ is for the birds (even if you are shorter), I think JCrew has longer lengths on that stuff and I do believe it gives the illusion of length and flatters a bit. Any place you spend money should have more of that tailored thing…. and lastly, I love v necks, I think I may just wear one every day (if I really think about it) Comfort, illusion, style–come on you are one of the best photogs around, just think of yourself. (can’t go wrong with a Target striped dress from Merona, it isn’t expensive, it is somewhat reminiscent of a nautical theme, it is V NECK, and it looks springy, I have one but that doesn’t mean crap-but I can send you a picture if you really want one)
…I’m certainly glad I’m at the bottom of the comment list….

erinFebruary 9, 2011 - 8:22 pm

i second erica’s suggestion… you MUST go to a nice dept. store and get fitted for a new bra. you need to pay an arm and leg to get an awesome bra. i love chantelle. LOVE! you will be amazed at the amazingness of your brand spankin’ new amazing boobies. amazing all around! :P

Lindsay HFebruary 9, 2011 - 6:58 pm

Hi Bobbi!

After reading your disclaimers, I thought you sounded a lot like me and all of my “problem areas”. So, I thought to myself, “self, what kind of outfit makes YOU (me) feel most confident?” And the answer was easy to come to: wrap dresses.

So, I went on the hunt for something that would be “different/funky” enough that you didn’t feel like you were dressed just like everyone else, that would be so flattering and cover your arms, and that would go beautifully with your amazing ginger hair. I found this (and HONESTLY really want it for myself, too…so don’t share the link with anyone—I’m afraid they’ll sell out before I can buy it to wear on my upcoming cruise!) ;)
It’s a v-neck (which I have found to be the most flattering neckline for my blessed bustline), and you can always just wear a camisole under it, if you feel that it shows too much cleavage. It also appears to be shorter, which hopefully will accommodate for your height.

Slap on some nude platform heels and you’ll be one hot momma!

Hope you like it! I’m not in this for the giftcard, and I don’t have the time to do an inspiration board, but I wanted to share the magic and love that is the oh-so-flattering wrap dress!
http://www.bluefly.com/BCBGMAXAZRIA-dark-ink-printed-jersey-faux-wrap-dress/cat20102/312709101/detail.fly?referer=ca_shopping&cm_mmc=ca_shopping-_-na-_-womens_dresses_day-_-312709101&mr:referralID=3ce3218d-34a3-11e0-9f53-001b2166becc

…And if you want a less “dressy” wrap dress and more “every day” option, here’s this beaut—you’ll probably need to find some fun accessories in order to make it “funky” for you, though :) http://piperlime.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=841451002&tid=plsz1r&kwid=1&ap=14

FORGIVE ME FOR MY INTENSE LOVE WITH NAVY! I can’t help it. Flattering, beautiful and NOT BLACK!

Michael BlanchardFebruary 9, 2011 - 6:57 pm

U should DEF wear a cute pair of orange shoes!

MartaVFebruary 9, 2011 - 6:24 pm

I am still working on it but you should totally check out myshape.com. You put in your measurements and clothing preferences. Then it tells you what shape you are and suggest best clothes for that shape. Also it knows how the sizes run for each garment and will tell you the correct size in that item for you to order. I love it. They have clothes from several places that you can see. Love it!

Catlin HumesFebruary 9, 2011 - 6:14 pm

I have sorta the same problem! I am a 34DD and I hate shopping! lol. Plus, what is it with these Bra companies…all the cute bras are for A,B,C cups. Lame.

While I probably would be that great at dressing you…since I cannot seem to dress myself either :P I wanted to stop by and say Congrats on the WPPI Platform Speaker spot :) You guys totally deserve it!

EricaFebruary 9, 2011 - 5:27 pm

Bobbi – Fellow short person here! I know there are way more qualified women to help with your fashion. BUT I did want to recommend that you go get fitted and purchase new bras. Yes girl, bras! I know, trying them on SUCKS and they are so costly! But I treated myself a few months ago and went to one of those fancy places (intamacy) where they fit you. Turns out I was wearing the wrong size. I was wearing 34c, when actually I am 32D! YES, the ONE bra I got cost me an arm and a leg. BUT it makes my chest look smaller and more in proportion to my stature! Still cute, but smaller because the bra puts the girls in the right place. Trust me. Try it!

Angie MFebruary 9, 2011 - 5:01 pm

Totally understand the large bust issues! Got a breast reduction that changed my life! Good luck with the clothes hunt…

KarenFebruary 9, 2011 - 4:47 pm

Is it too forward of me to say let’s go shopping?! But seriously, I love fashion, and being someone who also has trouble finding clothes that fit (for different reasons), I know that shopping online is extra difficult! What looks good on the hanger doesn’t always translate. Indy is only a couple hours away…….

Ali SmithFebruary 9, 2011 - 4:45 pm

I could have written your list of things to keep in mind, word for word! We are exactly the same shape! I wear jeans, black or dark grey t shirts and keens or dm’s All The Time so I’m so excited to see what people come up with for you.

DebFebruary 9, 2011 - 3:44 pm

I, too, am quite breastily endowed. I have found that nothing makes me look better than a good minimizer bra. Now, a good one doesn’t come cheap, but holy moly, does it make a difference. Look at Wacoal and Le Mystère. Your best bet is to get fitted at a Nordstrom or specialty store (NOT Victoria’s Secret). But, since you’re shopping online, try barenecessities.com. Right now, they have free shipping both ways on exchanges – in case you need to try more than one.

Good luck!

Kelly HeasleyFebruary 9, 2011 - 2:12 pm

OMG, Bobbi -you HAVE to check out eShakti (http://www.eshakti.com/default.asp). Dumb name with AMAZING clothes. They make EVERYTHING custom to your measurements (INCLUDING HEIGHT). No joke. Everything I’ve bought from them fits like a glove and you can ADD SLEEVES to almost everything they sell. Don’t like the low neckline? No problem, just select a more modest one. Remember my photo session with Gail? Everything I wore in that was from eShakti. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

Lisa CeaserFebruary 9, 2011 - 2:09 pm

Dude!!! You need Stacey and Clinton. I am not qualified to offer suggestions. I go for comfort all the time. I work as an office manager in a government office and I wear jeans and crocs EVERYDAY. Good luck though, I hope you can get some great ideas. That’s one thing that is so great about blogging.

MartaVFebruary 9, 2011 - 2:00 pm

This is so much easier to do in person but I am on it. Email coming soon!

Angi DavisFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:56 pm

Hi pretty girl! Or should I say “classic mid-western girl” because me and about 75% of my high-school chums had almost the exact same body as you have! In fact, my best friend of over 40 years STILL DOES! And I think she’s smokin’ for 42!! She’s 4’11″, a 34C (breastfed two kids–that’ll deflate ‘em a bit. lol), hates her upper arms, her “baby belly,” and her thighs – she doesn’t wear heels much either – usually only to her husband’s work parties. Oh and her inseam measurement is some crazy number, like 27,” so everything–even petite–gets tailored. Yes, she hates it. But when she’s really in need of a great outfit for an event or trip, she’ll take me shopping with her because I’m brutally honest. So, maybe I’ll give this a whirl; however, I’m not very good at it if it’s not a “hands on” type of thing. Regardless, I hope you find what you’re looking for in the area of fashion, especially since you’re so CUTE and DESERVE IT! Me…I’ll stick w/my hoodies. HA!

It's me, Betsy!February 9, 2011 - 1:54 pm

Well crap, I’ll buy what every shoes they recommend but I can bet that NOBODY can find cute shoes that are comfy too!

Please post the winning looks! I need to shop too!

NicoleSpeerFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:44 pm

I HATE having short legs! I’m extremely pear shaped though. Huge bottom half, smaller upper half. But I have the same arm issue you have. I love styling my friends, but I do it in store, in person. I’m pretty sure I would suck at online styling! Good luck! Hope you find some rockin outfits!

Kelly ChiodiFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:40 pm

Hi Bobbi, I just found your blog yesterday and love it. First I have to say congratulations on your success with managing your weight so far. I know from very similar experiences it’s NOT easy, so allow me to give you a virtual pat on the back…ok, a hug, why not? Really great. You look terrific.

We have more in common than that so I just wanted to add one little find I’ve made since I am not a fashion person by any stretch, but I am short, big-calf-ed, (?) and have never worn shoes that were less-than-comfy for more than a few hours.
I just bought myself a pair of those toning shoes that are all the rage. The Shape-Up’s by Sketcher were the first brand, I think, but all the shoe co.’s are doing them now. Whether or not they tone as claimed remains to be seen, but what I love most about them is that they give me a bit of height like heels, but are soooo comfy. (A short adjustment period is necessary because of the rocking, but once over that, they wear like any other sneakers.)
I don’t know if your Las Vegas outfits or occasion will allow sneakers, but, if they do, consider these.
I got my pair at Kohl’s on sale plus coupon for $35. Orig. price is closer to $100.
Good luck.

JustynaFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:36 pm

Can I recommend searching out a personal shopper/ stylist? They will shop for you and leave things in your sizes in local shops, etc, go through your closet, measure you properly. It’s an investment in yourself and really, if you look around, it can be affordable. I was able to swap services (her styling for headshots) with one and we were both pretty happy. I need her again, but I’m waiting until i loose more (on your healthy train:).

JustynaFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:32 pm

Bobbie – ignore the high heels on Amy’s post, just look at the awesome blouse and jeans and t-shirt. I think that blouse would complement your body beautifully.

AbbyFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:31 pm

If you lose much more weight you are going to disappear! I suck at fashion so I’m not much help. :)

bobbiFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:19 pm

Amy, I’m usually a more casual dresser :D Thanks friends!!!!!

SarahFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:18 pm

This was the perfect lunch diversion. 2 casual outfits here: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=28094460. Ignore the super high heels in the Gap picture.

On the left side, you have a basic navy blazer, gray shirt with ruching which helps hide any part of your stomach you don’t feel like showing off, and comfortable, wear-with-anything flats. On the right side, an outfit perfect for sightseeing with some adorable camera earrings. Most of the items are under $50.

Maybe tonight I’ll work on something a little more fancy schmancy. Have fun in Vegas!

Christina L.February 9, 2011 - 1:17 pm

Oh and I have large calves too! Some brands make extended calf boots, and if they are natural leather stores like Aldo and Nordstrom will usually stretch them for you. Also they make a product you can apply that helps natural materials stretch. :D

AmyFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:17 pm

Do you want dressy or casual or both? I’m 5’3 and a 42G bust. I think I have some insights into inexpensive clothes that work! I totally want to do this contest!

Christina L.February 9, 2011 - 1:17 pm

I think polyvore might be a great way for people to submit ideas to you/compile outfits. :D

http://www.polyvore.com/

I’ll try to put some together for you!

RhondaFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:10 pm

I think you are beautiful and love, love your hair. We all struggle don’t we??? Big hug to ya!

Heather MaynardFebruary 9, 2011 - 1:01 pm

I thought you looked adorable at WPPI last year! I still remember what you wore when I saw you at the mpix booth – jeans, a cute cardigan and an adorable headband. (I’m weird – I remember things like that.)

That being said, you totally need to go on What Not to Wear! And I don’t mean that in a bad, you-dress-horribly-kind-of-way. I just mean that they’d force you out of your comfort zone, something that’s oh so hard to do on your own! But I’d be really sad if they did anything to your pretty red hair!

I don’t have any specific outfit recommendations, but what about Banana Republic or Ann Taylor Loft? Don’t they offer several different cuts? Plus, you can actually go to a store and try them on. I think you’d look adorable in some of their current looks:

http://www.anntaylorloft.com/catalog/category_outfit.jsp?pCategoryId=3359&categoryId=246&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_246&loc=TN&N=1200004

http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=50356

Best wishes! I always say deciding what to wear at WPPI is the hardest part. :) Hope to see you there!

JuliaFebruary 9, 2011 - 12:58 pm

I think we have the same breasts; that’s about it though, because I think I’m also about 11″ taller. I have no clothing suggestions, but can I just say that 8 years ago I had breast reduction surgery (at age 40) and immediately wish’d I had done it at least ten years earlier. It changed my life (and y wardrobe), not to mention the eight pounds of boobage that I lost.

RachelleFebruary 9, 2011 - 12:54 pm

I’m no fashionista either but from one big bust to another, I LOVE the minimizer bras from Olga and Maidenform. Always get a tighter band than you think you need. Also I love my Flexies waistband shaper for my tummy. All these at Kohl’s! Ah yeah!

oh yay! this is going to be fun! I think you and I have the same body type(hope that doesn’t offend you;D) including the height and bust issue. Your complaints sound just like mine. I’m off on the hunt for something we would BOTH look amazing in! =)

Hi Bobbi!

I don’t have any fashion suggestions, I just wanted to say..this entry made me so sad! You are beautiful! Super smokin’ hot, even. Please, please stop hating your body. You’re right–there isn’t a switch. It takes time to learn to love your body. But you’ve seen firsthand–changing yourself physically doesn’t make those negative feelings go away. You have to change your insides. I know it sounds corny, but seriously. As a person who has never met you, but reads your blog regularly, YOU ARE PERFECT just how you are. Lose weight if it truly makes you feel better. But…does it? Has it? Will it?

I hope someone picks an outfit for you that makes you feel gorgeous. You truly are, and I admire you. Please don’t beat yourself up over something so trivial. Your weight is not you. Your face (which is so cute!) is not you either. You are made up of a talented, smart, person, not of your arms or your chest. I hope you feel good about yourself in time, whether or not you lose the last 20 lbs!

Oh hon, your requirements sound EXACTLY like mine. I was a 34DD at 11 and am still a 34DD!

I know you are looking for an inspiration board but I also wanted to tell you the ladies from the British What Not to Wear put together a book that explains what works and does not work for body shapes. It is AMAZING.

I think you should do a wrap dress with a v-neck and flats, preferably some 3/4 length sleeves.
