Paradox Announces Launch Of MMORTS Dreamlords: Resurrection

Paradox sends word that their free to play MMORTS title Dreamlords: Resurrection has launched, and to help entice players into trying the game out the company is offering $10 worth of in game credit for a limited time. If you'd like to give it a shot you can grab the client direct from the Dreamlords: Resurrection page.

Paradox also sent over a launch trailer which shows off a little bit of the gameplay you can expect.

Rusty Hearts Moves To Beta

Perfect World Entertainment has announced the opening of beta sign-ups for the upcoming multiplayer RPG, Rusty Hearts. I wish I had of watched the video prior to converting and uploading the files. No offense Perfect World, but only pedobears like anime style graphics. But for all of you sickos out there, here's the feature highlights list anyway:

Gamers Are A Bunch Of Cokeheads According To Lancaster Therapist

MCVUK caught wind of a Lancaster therapist named Steve Pope that's been lending his professional opinion on games to the masses via a BBC radio show. Most recently he claimed that two hours of gaming produces the same results as a line of cocaine, declaring it the silent killer of this generation. Here's a snip from the article:

"Spending two hours on a game station is equivalent to taking a line of cocaine in the high it produces in the brain," Pope told BBC Radio 5Live in an interview last night. “It's the silent killer of our generation.
“We're now onto second generation game station players who have always grown up with it. Computer game addiction can also spiral into violence as after playing violent games, they may turn their fantasy games into reality.

According to Pope another concern of his is that gamers react to taking away their games much like an alcoholic does to losing their booze. I guess I'll see you all in Gamers Anonymous one day.

Rift's First State of the Game

How are you folks enjoying Rift? Did Trion Worlds keep their promise and make this the smoothest launch in MMO history? How's the seller spam? It's been a week or so now, and the Rift Development Team has posted an update. Apparently nothing exploded, which is always a good thing. Unless you're playing shooters, then you want explosions. Lots of them. Big bewms. Oh yes.

So, what's in Rift's future, one might ask, or not ask? The game's first update for one thing. That will take place today at 8AM PST, or Friday at 2AM UTC if you're Euro. The update does feature some new content, and a lot of tweaks and fixes. So here are some of the specifics on what you can expect to see from this update:

Raid rifts!
Improvements to Rift, Invasion, and Foothold experience gains
See more quests at once in the tracker if you choose
Better item stack management
PvE end-game difficulty better suited to the power of real end-game characters
Pie. Added that one in on my own. Pie may or may not be included.

Some other improvements that Trion Worlds is working toward:

Mages. Yes, we’re both listening to you and paying attention to the post-launch gameplay data on our servers. While a well-played mage does do extremely well, and mages are very well represented in the overall number of active characters, there are issues with competitiveness in some low and mid level ranges and certain combinations of souls, due largely to mages’ overall fragility and cast times.
Mail Spam. Chat spam protection has been going really well on the whole, which, predictably, pushed spammers into mail. We’ll be putting more protection in place there soon.
Event Contribution. This system is being reworked to be more in line with the idea of events being massively social occurrences, and the focus on abilities themselves will be going away entirely.
Anti-Hacker Protection. As a very high priority, we’re working on new and interesting ways to help you make sure your account is protected from password phishing and keyloggers. In the short time since head start, we’ve already banned a couple thousand spammers, hackers, farmers, and thieves. We’ll continue improving our detection and ability to take action on them well into the future.
Dismount and Exposed. Expect some changes here as well.
