BioWare has stated for a while now that characters from your adventures in the previous Dragon Age and its downloadable content would make an appearance in Dragon Age II. Want to know who they are? You're in the right place.
We'll continue to update this story as we get more character confirmations.
This article contains information people may consider spoilers.
Flemeth
The bad-ass witch of the wilds greets you in the first fifteen minutes of the game. She has a new hair-do, a robe with really amazing shoulder pads (seriously, I want those) and appears to have gotten younger somehow. She's also as mysterious as ever. Is she a friend or foe? If you romanced Morrigan in Dragon Age: Origins (like I did), you might be inclined to say foe.
If you're wondering why she's not dead (you can kill her in Origins), the timeline overlap accounts for that fact. Dragon Age II starts shortly after the battle of Lothering in Origins. Now that doesn't explain why she looks younger and her boobs are exposed, but perhaps the game will address that.
Anders
If you haven't played any of the downloadable content for Origins you might not recognize the Grey Warden mage from Awakening. He didn't get a magical makeover like Flemeth, but he's still witty and a bit disgruntled. He's also still considered an Apostate by the Mage's Chantry, and seems to have a newly developed aversion to the Grey Wardens.
What about Anders' former friend, Justice? So far, no sight of him.
Anders is a companion in Dragon Age II.
Merrill
Those who played as a Dalish Elf (warrior or rogue) in Origins will remember Merrill as the apprentice of the Clan's keeper. She was a tad bitchy in Origins, but now she's much more timid. Her silvery voice and vast eyes are reminiscent of Harry Potter's Luna Lovegood.
She is still the keeper's apprentice in Dragon Age II, but is forced to leave the group for mysterious reasons. Whatever it is, it doesn't seem good.
Merrill is a companion in Dragon Age II.
Isabela
Don't feel too badly if you don't remember dear old Isabela from Origins. She's had some work done since her days at The Pearl, but she is still fond of hanging out in salacious places.
Some of you might recall landing a threesome with this master duelist, so you'll be happy to hear she's retained her frisky personality.
Isabela is a companion in Dragon Age II.
Marethari
Like Merrill, those who played as a Dalish Elf in Origins will remember Marethari as the Clan's keeper. She mentioned in Origins that she would move her people north, and she kept her word. The Clan of Dalish elves now resides in Sundermount, which is close to Kirkwall.
But what of your Grey Warden? The ever-witty Morrigan? The incredibly dreamy Alistair? We're not sure yet how or if they will come into play.
Feel free to speculate in the comments below.
