About Karen Dybis

Karen Dybis is a freelance journalist. A Michigan native, Dybis was born in Bad Axe and raised in Romeo. She graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and has worked as a reporter at The Mackinac Island Town Crier, The Kalamazoo Gazette, The Adrian Daily Telegram and The Oakland Press in Pontiac. She spent five years at The Detroit News as a business writer with stints in retail, workplace issues and personal finance. During her years in Detroit, Dybis covered everything from Kmart’s massive bankruptcy to the state’s unemployment crisis to debates over how dirty desktops really are. Dybis now calls Grosse Pointe home, which she shares with her husband (who is from Grand Rapids) and two children.
