NHL 11 Jersey Code
For anyone who was desperately waiting to play with the Ducks third jerseys in NHL 11,
EA Sports released the code today. It is:

I don’t think neon orange blends very well in any striped design. From the hockey pants down, it’s dangerously close to this:

peripherally related
I’ve never thought there was a need to get authentic jerseys instead of replicas but I must say that anyone getting a third should get an authentic. The shoulder patches on the replicas are just crap plastic. They’re not stitched at all. The patches on the authentics feature full stitching.

Sure, and for the extremely poor, it actually works in NHL ‘95 and Nintendo Ice Hockey. There’s even a way to activate it in Chexx Bubble Hockey if you align the players right and catch the midday sun over the faceoff dot :)

Silly it’s in a code though. They should just push it over Xbox Live. I’m lazy and hate entering long text with a controller – especially text that aren’t real words. The only problem is those who don’t connect their Xbox to the internet.
I noticed that the jerseys were already in the game when I unlocked them and it wasn’t done in a download which would explain the code. Although I don’t see why they don’t offer them via download
those who don’t connect their Xbox to the internet.
[raises hand] I worked in the video game industry in the early downloadable patch, etc. era. Supplemental downloads often require testing just because adding anything to a game can fuck up the code. It’s cheaper to test everything you can as a whole and then make only the bare minimum of patches down the road, such as network fixes, roster fixes, etc.

Yeah, I suppose that’s true. I work in software development and definitely know the difficulties of releasing patches. But this really is just an unlockable and not so much a patch. Just like how EA updates the headlines in the game (to let you know the 3rd jerseys are out), they could have just had an option in the menu that let you attempt to unlock it. It would just make a call to the EA Servers that would let the game know whether it’s a yes or no. Plus, they always are releasing those Tuner Sets. It could have been delivered in the same kind of way – just a new default settings file. Of course the 3rd jerseys settings would be hidden in the UI.
Either way, they could of made the code really simple to input rather than a bunch of jibberish.
Yeah, they’re unlockable as is. I thought you were advocating they be downloadable instead?
If you look at the way EA set their jerseys, they actually haven’t updated their character models from NHL 08 when using jerseys from that year and earlier. So if you use jerseys from that era, the Ducks 06-07 jersey for example, the players automatically get fat and square. There would definitely have to be some testing with their engine as it is.

Is there a reason why I have to input this code so many times. My game is randomly shutting off the third jerseys and making me enter it all over again.
I don’t know how PS3 works, but if you have an NHL11 profile and save it, the game should remember that it’s unlocked for that profile. I’ve never had to put it in again.

check that. despite playing with the jerseys a dozen times and turning my system off and on at least five times in between that, I finally had to enter the code again tonight, due mostly to your bad magumbo comment I’m sure.
