O'Reilly and Maher on Deficits, Extremism and Tea Partiers
Bill Maher joined Bill O'Reilly's show and discussed who's to blame for the deficit, whether his political views have shifted over the last twenty years and whether there is racism in the "Tea Party" or as I'd prefer to call them, the Republican base. Bill used his line from one of his New Rules segment where he described what's happened with the two major political parties and the fact that there are no more moderates left in the GOP.
At some point in the last 20 years, the left moved to the center, and the right moved into a mental institution.
And Fox is helping to send them there. O'Reilly said he's going to have the entire "unedited" version of the interview available on Fox's web site after they air part two on Thursday. I wonder how much of it will still be cut out as they did with his recent interview with Jon Stewart?

Jon Stewart called Bill the skinniest kid at the fat farm. Meaning he is the sanest of the crazies at Fox. That's a statement for sure.

I hear the only way to get through to a narcissist is to explain how changing their beliefs will benefit them. That should be easy really. It's not like the Baggers are thinking about their best interests. They just think about their immediate interests.

I'm not a big Maher fan but that line about the right moving into a mental institution is pure gold! I have noticed that BillO hasn't shown the part of the interview when he was on Stewart's show where he told Jon that there was a scud missle aimed toward Colbert. Maybe he was embarrassed by his own words. Could that be? At least Jon called him out on the remarks and asked him not to talk like that.
Man, Beck is on a roll tonight as he goes back into Obama's life to explain why he is a something or the other. He's done this so many times I lose track on what he is trying to prove the President is now.

No, I missed that story. Beck is trying to keep people from going to the next rally by telling them if they go they will be standing for people like communists etc, covering all the different organizations who are also participating. In other words if you attend the rally you are giving your approval to these organizations. He even said the union members are being forced to attend even though he had to take some words out of context to make that statement.
He's sounding nervous and I'm just wondering what kind of standing he has right now with fox. They may fire him before he has his evangelical show lined up for some religious channel.

but it seems that not too long ago he was wishing for Obama to show a little bit of Bush's "swagger". (I'm paraphrasing here) I'm not sure that he's directly contradicting himself but maybe he meant he wants a president to use his brain and not his gut but to have some balls too.

The clipped version that I'd seen on the interwebs didn't do the full 44 minute interview justice. Jon kicked his ass and very nicely. I loved it when Bill O realized that Stewart was getting the better of him with both humor and logic with the crew constatly laughing so, Bill O starts TALKING VERY LOUDLY AND EVENTUALLY EVEN YELLING! Nicely done Jon!
A Republican telling that Obama is the biggest spender ... is like going to a restaurant with a friend, SKIP on him/her to pay the bill and then POKING JOKES at the friend for GETTING STUCK WITH paying the bill.

In brief, it was supporting BM's assertion regarding greed/selfishness, and had to do with Rxx Pxxx and his reason for supporting DADT repeal. Though it could be a delayed code/safety feature of the recent mod, I also question sentiment.

In the New Rules segment, Maher said the Democrats moved to the *right,* not to the *center.* Is he misquoting himself then or is Heather misquoting what he said in that inteview? I can't tell, because I refuse to watch anything associated with Fox News.
was a time I would have voted for a moderate Republican, but these days moderate Republicans are nonexistent. The political center has shifted so far to the right, the the GOP has gone to crazy town. Personally, I'm frightened by the fact that the GOP could gain back power in the either the House or Senate. If given that power, they will hurt the country and stall any hope of recovery, because what they really want is to destroy Obama, so they can win back the WH in 2012. The Democrats MUST get out to vote and spread the word.

Maher did well in this segment, but O'Reilly was effective at taking advantage of the 3-second delay in communications. Watch again (wearing Rightie glasses) and it really seems like Maher is frequently caught off-guard and stammering for a response... and once he starts talking, Bill immediately talks over his response, which starts the process over again.
At least Stewart showed up in person... smart.
