I’ll admit it: I’m not a huge fan of chair ties. They seem to lend a scary 1980s look to event the most posh events (sort of like these napkin folds). They also create a lot of visual noise without adding much interest. But, here are chair ties done right – vertically! Get creative and use pashminas that double as a guest favor, fabric swatches to pop against your table linens, or long silk scarves.

Not even the threat of a NYC hurricane could keep these two from the altar! Roy & Michele enjoyed an intimate ceremony at the Ladies Pavilion in Central Park followed by a fun pedi-cab ride around the park and a sunset dinner at the romantic River Cafe overlooking the East River. Thanks to Zlatko Batistich for capturing their special day so wonderfully.

How about this wonderful multi-purpose program idea that we discovered on Brides? A great way to give your guests a little snack and share the information about your ceremony. We can see this concept being used for all sorts of different foods or even as escort cards instead of programs!

Rose petals are a beautiful way to add some color and interest to your event. Keep in mind that when used outdoors, they can blow away VERY easily. Whether used as accents on your cocktail tables or in an elaborate design down the aisle, talk to your florist about what the plan will be when the wind kicks up.

You can’t help but love Adam’s face as he sees his lovely bride walking down the aisle! St. Aloysius Church was the site of their sun-filled ceremony where the spiced wine hue of the bridesmaid dresses popped against breathtaking florals by Rountree Flowers. These spectacular photos were captured by Jeff Tisman.

The church, designed to look like a tent in ancient Jerusalem, has won numerous awards for architectural excellence including the National McGraw-Hill award for Best Worship Project.

Many vintage limos don’t have air conditioning (a must for a hot summer wedding day). Also, remember that these are vintage, as in antiques. Don’t expect a 1920s vehicle to drive more than a few miles without breaking down. Better to use the vintage car as a prop and have the driver meet you at the photo location than depend on it for your actual transportation.

Denise & Adam got married on the hottest day of the year! Despite the weather, these two were all smiles. Adam is a very talented writer and created a special gift for his bride-to-be: a series of notecards for me to read to Denise before she received her surprise. No question that the notecards will be a treasured heirloom, just like her beautiful Cartier watch. More amazing photos by Jeff Tisman to come!

Specialty table linens are a sure-fire way to create a truly unique look for an event, it’s the best and easiest way to remove the word “generic” from your guests’ vocabulary completely. We’re big believers in table linens in general, and having a printed linen makes the visual impact even more of a statement.
