Beautiful Blooms has an amazing team of people that dream up, design, create and execute our EVENTS (Weddings, Mitzvahs, Dinner Parties, Corporate Events, Social Galas, etc) and everyone of them plays an important role in the company.
With the Winter Weather Advisory in place I thought it was a fitting time to feature the photos from Bill Schaffer’s Polar Fantasty Exhibit from the 2010 Philadelphia Flower Show. Bill is our Design and Studio Director here at Beautiful Blooms and each year he comes up with something even more magical than the year before.
Fusion Magazine featured Bill’s display on the pages of its December/January issue. Congratulations Bill we’re so excited for you and of course happy you are part of the Beautiful Blooms Team.
Enjoy the photos and look for Bill’s exhibit again this year along with BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS exhibit. We’re so excited that we got moved to a larger space this year. I promise they will both be crowd pleasers!
What fun it was to create this Movie Bar Mitzvah at Beth El Synagogue in Voorhees, New Jersey! Our client wanted something unique and boyish so we decided on the color palette of red, black and brown. These photos were all taken by me on site but hopefully we will get some great ones from the Photographer!
We chose all black satin linens and decided to do a mix of two types of chairs which included the dark wood chavari and the black chavari with red cushions. White hemstitch napkins completed the look on a silver charger plate. We incorporated three different centerpieces in the room to give the Mitzvah a more interesting feel.
As the guests entered the Synagogue they stepped on to the red carpet which led them directly to the magnificent place card display made from a mix of unique vases, exposed film and old film reels.
The tall bubble vase was filled with a tall display of rich red ginger with a film reel and film woven through the arrangement. Smaller vessels were placed around the display and filled with one type of flower including anthirium, dahlias, roses and ginger. The shades of red formed a spectacular color statement off of the black satin linen. The whole arrangement had silver mercury votives added into the mix for an inviting glow.
The exposed film we choose came in two widths and we woven it throughout the whole display. The client chose “oscar” logo place cards to match the table design. At one point in time we actually talked about doing the place cards on real film.
We designed three unique centerpiece designs for this Movie Mitzah and each was completely unique. The lighting we created complimented the whole feel…elegant, warm and cozy just like the old Hollywood Days.
Plexi film strips were custom created for this event by us. Guests could look through them and feel as though they were being seen on film. Two black cube vases were placed on the platform on either side of the film strip and filled with a tall arrangement of ginger, dahlias, roses and mokara orchids. The statement was very strong against the black linens and the cube votives added a nice glow to the table.
This low arrangement had a horizontal line to it and was designed from ginger, dahlias, mokara orchids and roses. Exposed film was also woven through this arrangement and accented with square votives.
The structure was composted of two film reels and a pipe placed between them. I LOVE how unique it is. We hung rich red calla lilies from the structure and accented it with votives.
We created a lounge for the kids with a mix of rich burgundy velvet diamond pattern couches, black cotton couches and light up cocktail and end tables. It was really great looking. We also had so tables that the kids could be seated at too during dinner.
Enjoy the images and Beautiful Blooms Events is here for all your planning, decor and floral needs!
As the end of the year approaches in just a few hours I wanted to share with you photos from our final photo shoot of the year.
We find inspiration in many places when we are creating our events, decor and florals and of course photo shoots. For our Holiday Ceremony Shoot featured on Style Me Pretty these three magazine pages inspired us.
Color-We just fell in love with these two pages for our color inspiration with the mix of magenta, rich orange, purple and a hint of gold and copper. The feel is luxurious with a bit of vintage mixed in. It’s a new twist on the standard Holiday colors of red, green and gold.
After seeing this image we kept thinking how we could take the traditional ornament used during the holidays and make it new and inspiring. We decided to hang the ornaments in the arrangements and mix them into the ceremony table display.
Thank You to Marie Labbancz for taking all of these beautiful photos. I hope these images will inspire you for the coming year.
A cedar garland framed nooks in the barn at Ashford Estate. We hung a variety of colors, shapes and sizes of ornaments from brightly colored raffia ribbon from the garland to add interest. Placing these clusters throughout the barn really added nice pops of color throughout the space.
Throughout the barn there are lots of little shelves that were calling for decor so we happily obliged and added colored ornaments and the most beautiful green/gold mercury votive cups. These shelves were placed on either side of the main mantle and flanked the mantle beautifully with this hint of color.
This custom made gold table served as the perfect piece to use for our ceremony design. All of the colors of our flowers worked perfectly against it. It’s a nice idea to think outside of the box when designing a ceremony. It doesn’t always have to be two “altar” style arrangements on pedestals or on the ground.
To decorate the chair ends we placed two ornaments on the aisle chairs.
We placed a lush floral piece on the center of the mantle and hung ornaments from the greenery placed within it. The arrangement is a mix of roses, vanda orchids, tulips, stock, pine and cedar. We wanted all of the floral pieces to NOT have symmetry in them but instead have a more free form clustered design. On either side we used our cut crystal candleholders to display the pillar candles. Instead of using a traditional ivory color we used these hot pink pillars. They really stand out against the stone wall.
On either back corner of the table we placed one of our copper mercury vases. Each one of these had a luxurious arrangement of peonies, garden roses, roses, vanda orchids, ranunculus, tulips, pine and cedar. We hung bright colored holiday ornaments from each of these designs.
This color combo is so vibrant and rich! If you look closely into the center of the arrangement you can also see magnolia and privet berry added for additional texture.
In Long Beach Island I found this incredible antique easel while shopping. I can think of a million things we will use it for at our events including a stand for a signature drink menu.
We incorporated plum colored pillar candles placed on antique thread spools to add a glow to the ceremony table. The combination of hot pink and plum pillar candles used in this ceremony definitely added interest. The table would have looked a lot different (not as rich) if we had placed white or ivory pillars on the table.
I also love these gold votive cups with a purple liner. It’s all in the details!
On the actual table we incorporated a mix of ornaments, bottle brush trees and even this beautiful gold lantern.
Marie played around with several ways to display this diamond ring. I have always loved vintage bottle brush trees and when I found these I knew we had to add them into our table display. The color was just perfect!
I found this antique ring box in a vintage shop during a trip to the Outer Banks. The estate feel diamond ring was designed by my cousin and his team at Ascot Diamonds in Virgina for me. It’s the perfect engagement ring or in my case right hand ring.
When keeping in mind how a whole event should look and feel you want to keep in mind the little things that make a difference. Why not offer your guests these wonderful matching colored drinks before the ceremony? We displayed them with this antique tin ferris wheel to add a bit of whimsy.
Why not offer your guests an assortment of coordinating cookies to match the look of their wedding. These cookies were made by the wonderful Whipped Bakeshop in Fishtown and boy did they taste incredible. Yes we sampled them after they were photographed.
These glittery rock candy sticks would be the perfect finishing touch to a dessert and coffee course at a wedding or party. So much more interesting that plain white sugar in a sugar bowl.
The Groom or Groomsmen would look wonderful wearing this great striped purple tie. There are so many incredible mens accessories and by incorporating them into the mens attire it is a great way to personalize your wedding. Think ties, pocket squares, socks, cuff links and even shoes.
Our boutonniere is created from a vanda orchid accented with a cedar tip, mini ornament and vintage glitter flower stamens.
The Bride’s bouquet is made from a beautiful combo of garden roses, roses and mokara orchids accented with mini ornaments and vintage glitter stamens.
This bridesmaids bouquet is made from vanda orchids with a wrap of the sueded side of magnolia leaves and an ornament placed at the bottom of the stems. It’s so chic and elegant.
The Ashford Estate has an upper level to the barn so we swagged that railing with a cedar garland accented with hanging holiday ornaments. We placed votives underneath it to add a soft glow.
Happy New Year to all and look for many new and exciting events with Beautiful Blooms Events next year!
We were thrilled to be featured on Style Me Pretty’s Blog this December 24th! We had so much doing this shoot at the beautiful Ashford Estate with Marie Labbancz taking all the photos and Claudia Seyler making the models look great. I look forward to doing out next blog post showing you our inspiration for the design.
All of the photos and story are featured on Style Me Pretty.
Enjoy the snow and stay warm everyone.
When Beautiful Blooms decided to team up with Marie Labbancz to do a Tablescape Shoot I wanted to make sure it was not your traditional holiday color palette. We decided on a combination of of teal, turquoise and chartreuse based on several home magazines I’d been looking through for inspiration. It looked fresh and new to me and based on the table top items we choose to work with we also added some emerald green and patina accents.
Here’s our venue of choice…newly opened Ashford Estate in Allentown, NJ. We just love this venue and our tablescape photographed beautifully here against the backdrop of the large windows and tall trees.
The day of the shoot was rainy, cold and windy but the team rallied and off we went into the elements to create beauty!
In designing the look, the first thing we thought about was the table and it popped to mind that we should use our mirrored table that we had made recently. This table was the perfect starting point. All of the elements we chose to feature complimented the table beautifully. Beautiful Blooms is not only a floral company but we are also full decor company with many different props, furniture and table top elements such as candle holders and vases. What we don’t have in house we make!
All of the items we used reflected so nicely off this table. I love these greenish gold mercury votives which we recently purchased and added to our table top inventory. The vintage green glasses were purchased from an antique store in Long Beach Island. You just never know where you are going to find just the right item to finish off the look.
When we sat down as a team to design this specific look we decided to do a cedar runner across the table along with our new green/gold glass hurricanes that we purchased for our inventory. We knew we wanted this design to have more of a vintage flair to it so I started researching different elements to incorporate into the cedar runner. I went on Etsy and found these incredible mercury glass acorns in the small size shown above in teal and a larger size in chartreuse.
While in the Outer Banks at Thanksgiving I stepped into Dollar General and found these fake poinsettia stems. I agonized over them trying to decide if they were cool or tacky but since they were only a dollar each I said what do I have to loose. As a team we decided they would work perfectly into the garland and they did. I loved that the color was perfect and that they had a bit of sparkle in the center of them. You never know where you will find the elements to make a great tablescape! It is all about mixing and matching. When you work with Beautiful Blooms you get a whole team of talent and excellent taste so you can count on us to make your event look amazing.
In this photo you can also see the chartreuse poinsettia blooms worked with the aqua ones.
I love these green gold mercury hurricanes we recently purchased! If you look to the left of this front one you can also see the large mercury glass acorn. What I love here is how all of the shades of green really work together and compliment each other.
To complete the dinner table setting we chose to use a mink glass charger plate, gold flatware, a gold tipped champagne flute and wine glass, a vintage green glass for water and a beautiful green and gold footed bowl. We folded and placed an aqua/green napkin under the bowl. We always like coming up with a new napkin fold for our events as the details do matter!
The sprig of cedar matched the garland table runner and also was a nice accent to the napkin. Napkin accents can range from a sprig of cedar to a spray rose to a small ornament. We are always thinking of different options that compliment the whole design of the table.
When we create and design a “look” for an event we think about every detail including the chair and cushion. This marbled greenish gold chair emulated the look of the mercury glass and with the soft aqua cushion it just added the perfect finishing touch.
Whipped Bakeshop created this gold sparkle cupcake for our shoot. They offer not only yummy tasty baked goods but also a great sense of design. Who wouldn’t want to bite into one of these?
The perfect notebook or guest book? Look how beautifully the colors match our shoot.
As dusk arrived the candlelight flickered brightly and lit the table beautifully. Who wouldn’t want to sit at a table this gorgeous?
We had to create the perfect boutonniere and bouquet for our stunning Holiday Tablescape Design so we came up with a boutonniere of a magnolia leaf, cedar, seeded eucalyptus and vintage flower stamens in aqua. The boutonniere was wrapped in teal ribbon and accented with teal pearl pins.
I love the tie too! It could be perfect for a groom or groomsmen. It is always fun to personalize your wedding with little details like a tie or pocket square or amazing cuff links.
This bouquet perfectly compliments the look by using all greenery. A biedermeier style bouquet was created starting with the center comprised of vintage flower stamens in aqua then followed by a cuff of seeded eucalyptus and then a cuff of magnolia leaves and then finished with a cuff of cedar. It is a truly unique and beautiful bouquet if I do say so myself. It was finished off with teal silk dupioni ribbon and a gorgeous crystal brooch that I found at the Tu Belleza Studio on Liberties Walk.
Here’s my top 10 list of my favorite items available at the Beautiful Blooms Boutique!
#1-FRESH FLOWERS
I love fresh flowers always! My friends think that since I work in this industry I wouldn’t actually enjoy receiving flowers and that is not true but they do have to be from the Beautiful Blooms Boutique! Fresh flowers dress up my home and put a smile on my face. I love giving flowers as a gift too as there is nothing better than to see a person’s face light up when they receive a bouquet or an arrangement from us!
I don’t really have a favorite flower as I love so many different flowers but currently my favorite flower is the SWEETNESS ROSE. I love that it is a creamy white with touches of reddish pink on the edges of its petals. It looks as though an artist painted it just this way but it is grown naturally.
#2 WREATHS
I like to have friends and family feel welcome when they come to my home so having something on the front door I feel adds that warm welcoming feel. A wreath is a great way to add that feeling to any home by placing on a door or window or even a garden gate. We’ve got a whole variety of custom designed wreaths at the Beautiful Blooms Boutique. I’ve shown a few that we currently have on hand in this photo below. Each one is its own work of art.
#3-FELT PRODUCTS
I’ve always been a fan of felt and its soft texture. We offer two great felted items in the boutique-mistletoe and felted holiday ornaments.
MISTLETOE-It’s a holiday tradition in my family to hang a ball of mistletoe in the house but in the past it was a small plastic ball. It’s time to update that plastic ball and hang the green felted mistletoe with the white berries in my home. I love that classic holiday song, “I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus under the Mistletoe” so in honor of my mom I’ll get my mistletoe up today.
HOLIDAY ORNAMENTS-My mom and aunt have always been crafters and I grew up with them making beautiful holiday ornaments. I remember them pulling patterns out of magazines and going to craft stores to buy just the right snowflake sequin and bead. This year I am going to give them a set of these felted holiday ornaments as a gift. The pattern pieces are already cut so all they have to do is put them together and then add them to the tree. It’s that easy.
4. HAND BLOWN GLASS ORNAMENTS
Whenever I can I like to support local artisans so this year we’ve brought into the Boutique hand blown glass holiday ornaments that were purchased from Tyler School Of Art’s glass department . These are so pretty and each one is completely different in design. One of these boxed up makes the perfect gift but it would be also fabulous to add a variety of them to your holiday tree.
5. GROWING TREES AND PLANTS
These are fabulous choices for a gift as they just keep on giving. We’ve got beautiful fragrant Paperwhites and also trees. They grown in their own containers and you can continue to enjoy them this way and eventually replant them as they grow up. I think these are perfect for people that live in the city but want to add a little green inside.
6. PET GRASS
Those of us that have pets love them with all our hearts and it is unconditional. For those special creatures, we carry pet grass which can be grown in this silver metal water bowl. It’s a fun gift for our friends that love their pets and want the best for them. Don’t forget we’ve sell TJ the Bernese Mountain Dog greeting cards and they are the perfect card for your pet purchase.
7. CANDLES
I love candles! Candles add warmth and romance to a room any time of the year. Line a mantle with them or place all different candle sizes throughout the house. Just make sure not to mix too many scents together. If you are going to mix scents think complimentary scents…Vanilla and Fig or Apple Cranberry and Milk or I like the idea of mixing Mistletoe and Peppermint for the holidays. I like the variety of scents and containers that are available currently in the market place so we carry a diverse mix. I especially like these little tin candle pots that we have at the boutique and they actually have the matches attached to the lid. What a great idea!
8. Faux Flowers
Look at these stems of beautiful red amaryllis and red hydrangea shown in one of our silver birch containers. We’ve also got lovely white callas to choose from to decorate your home with for the holidays. You have to look really close to see that these are not real. The beauty is that you can continue to enjoy these faux flowers throughout the year.
10. Poinsettias and Anthirium
We’ve got a whole variety of Poinsettias and Anthirium plants in different sizes to dress up your house for the holidays. They are beautifully wrapped an accented with a holiday ornament. Come on in and see them up close!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!
