Activision Games Week: Singularity
It's time for another publishers games week and Activision gets the spotlight. To start things off, Singularity gets 50% off today. Manipulate time as you try to prevent a singularity that threatens to end the world. All in the days work for modern day gamers.
As for the rest of the week, look for deals on a recent racer tomorrow. A Western on Wednesday and Thursday brings Vampires into the fold.
Heads Up!: A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda
Everyone likes to root for the little guy and I’m no different. Manily because it’s too easy to overlook games in today’s industry filled with triple-A titles that have us drolling at every screen shot released. It’s just a reality of today’s gaming culture. Every once in a while a game will cross my path and takes me by surprise and I can’t help but smile. Extend Studio managed to do just that with A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda.
Answering a distress call you take control of Ares, a combat ready robot, as you set off to rescue hostages being held by renegade robots in a remote planet. The story might not be award winning but the game looks and feels like a mix of Mega Man and Metroid. As you advance you gain abilities and weapons which you can upgrade by collecting parts from defeated enemies. I’m one of those gamers that tries to upgrade every weapon possible. Naturally, I loved this feature except when it came down to deciding whether to save up parts to upgrade a weapon or spend them on much needed repair kits.
The overall look of the game is impressive too. Giant bosses to fight and a over-the-top enemy clearing special weapon fill the screen with color. It all made navigating from screen to screen much more engaging, just remember to keep your eyes open for precise hidden power-ups. I can’t tell you how much I like finding hidden items in games. It’s like being 12 years old again and finding hidden turkey legs encased in brick walls in Castlevania all over again. Priceless.

If you are looking for something new to play with a bit of old school charm. A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda is exactly what you are looking for.

Best of 2010 Sale
It's that time of the year again when all the top games of the year get much needed recognition. IGN announced the winners and D2D decided to offer a sale on all the games nominated this year. If you are like me and I know you are. You probably missed out on a game or two, maybe you set it aside for later in the year and forgot about it. (Sorry Darksiders) Lucky for us deals like this come around.
Just remember to use the code: ignbest at check out or if you live in Europe use the code: 2010ignbest.
See it's that easy. All you have to do now is decide what you want to play. While your at it, tell me your choice for PC game of the year in the comment section below. Personally, I loved Amnesia: The Dark Descent, let the debate begin.
GTA: Trilogy
It's tough being a gamer, especially if you own a Mac. You can argue you have the better more stable operating system but when it comes down to gaming, it's not in the same terms as PCs. Times are changing and more are being released on the Mac platform. Today I am pleased to announce the release of Rockstar's GTA series for the Mac.
The GTA franchise has offered the best sand-box style gaming in recent history. Jammed packed with places to explore, vehicles, and some of the most memorable characters you will ever come across. If I put all of you guys in a room and asked you to name your favorite moment, that would probably last a few days. We could have an endless debate over your favorite main character too. Just goes to show, Rockstar sure knows how to make great games with engaging stories.
As you can see we added the GTA: Trilogy a collection that includes GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. We also have them available individually if bundles aren't your thing.
Question of the day. What's your favorite GTA game and why?
EA Games Week: Medal of Honor
Hope everyone had a great weekend and our weekend deals helped get some games on your hard drives. We had some great deals and this week we are pleased to announce the start of EA games week. Starting things off, we have Medal of Honor on sale for 50% off.
A lot of the coverage around Medal of Honor was centered on the controversy involving the inclusion of a certain terrorist group, which was later changed to opposing force in the game. (I'll let you debate that on your own time) I found my time with Medal of Honor to be a enjoyable one overall. The single player campaign kept me going and the multi-player side of things, while it does have a bit of a learning curve was a blast once I started playing with friends. Of course that's just my opinion and if you were on the fence about picking up this title today is your lucky day.
Let us know what you think.
Hints of what's to come this week. Tomorrow it's a deal on a sports game you can't use your hands in. Wednesday brings a fantasy game that may or may not have dragons in it. On Thursday, you can build a whole city, cheap! Friday gives you a chance to simulate a life.
DC Universe Online Beta
Our friends over at Fileplanet have a exclusive leg up on the DC Universe Online Beta. Which you can find here:
http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/dcuniverse/
The hype surrounding this MMO has been building ever since a cinematic trailer was released showing tons of DC characters going head to head in one massive fight. Speaking as someone who has been in the Beat for the last two months I can tell you this game will keep you entertained. Especially if you are a comic book fan.
Well the time has come for you all to get in on the action. I have codes for the PS3 and PC versions of the Beta and I'm looking to give them out. It's simple go the comment section and tell me your favorite DC character and which Beta you want to try out. (PC or PS3) I'll be handing them off until I run out! Good luck and see in the Beta.
In case you aren't lucky enough to get a code here. Fileplanet will be handing them off all weekend. Click on the link above to get in on the action.
So Many Ways To Save!
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
The Atari Games week just flew by and some great titles were highlighted and we are ending it all with one great title. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena let's you control Riddick himself in a re-mastered version of Escape from Butcher Bay and the all new campaign Assault on Dark Athena. The main draw here is the ability take out enemies in the brutal fashion only Riddick himself can. Hide in the shadows and out smart your enemies, feel free to admire the scenery and take in the great lighting system.
Empire & Napoleon GoTY Edition 50% Off
Here is a offer available to both U.S. and U.K. followers. The Total War series have been one of the best strategy games out. Having said that, I know too many of you have not played any of the Total War games. Basically, you have control over an entire battlefield, pinning different unit types against one and another. Think of it as a giant ever evolving game of chess. Obviously there is a ton more but for the sake of keeping things short, how about a video? It's the best way to really take in the scale both of these great titles offer.
This deal is available for U.S. and U.K. followers.
So many great games here! I'll name some personal favorites: Darksiders, Metro 2033, and Titans Quest Bundle just to name a few. I'm sure you can find plenty of others gems. (Rumor has it a coupon code: HOHOHO works on these too)
For all of our U.S. followers (Yes it works on existing discounts!)
As you can see we have tons of ways for you to save this weekend. Best part is I only highlighted a few games, trust me there are plenty of deals to be found. My suggestion go to the site and browse around. Happy hunting and good luck!
20% OFF everything!
The title says it all folks. It's the holidays and we are here to help. You see that nice coupon code in the image. The one that says HOHOHO, it works for every game we have on the site. Including pre-orders and even some already on sale. If you had your eye on that certain game or wanted to buy something for that certain someone. Now is the perfect time!
We are also running a special sweepstakes on our facebook page where you have a chance to win two copies of Call of Duty Black Ops. One for you and one for that special someone. Just visit our facebook page, click on the "Sweepstakes!" tab and follow the directions to enter. Someone wins every Thursday.
See told you we are feeling the holiday spirit.
New Release: Bejeweled 3
Confession time: I love the Bejeweled franchise. It goes back to my love for Tetris and Peggle. See I can admit it, it's easy just imagine all the shiny gems waiting to be lined up and blown up. I will admit I like the more relaxed modes like Quest than racing against the clock in Lightning mode. Luckily, Bejeweled 3 has enough modes to keep your attention regardless of what kind of a style of game play you are looking for. Variation is the spice of life after all.
Although, when all is said and done. I love watching cascades of explosions fill my screen. It takes me to my happy place.
Look for more games to be released under the "New Release" banner soon. Think of it as a way to give you some insight on the latest games to hit Direct2Drive.
