Etsy Developer Community and API

Welcome to the Etsy Developer Community

Etsy is the world's most vibrant handmade marketplace. The Etsy API lets developers tap into the Etsy community, building their own Etsy-powered applications for the web, desktop and mobile devices. We hope the API will help connect buyers with sellers, promote the handmade lifestyle, and support the craftspeople who sell on Etsy.

API v2 is Here!

We're pleased to announce our new API v2! Highlights include:

  • Access to sales data using OAuth
  • Ability to manage listings and favorites, also using OAuth
  • Improved search features
  • Better control over responses

PLEASE NOTE: Support for Etsy API v1 has ended, and the API has been taken offline. If you need assistance porting your project to API v2, please write to us.

Getting Started

Anyone can use the Etsy API free of charge, and signing up is easy:

  • Register for a developer account. This account is separate from your Etsy.com account. During registration, you will apply for an API key. The API key gives you access to the Etsy API.
  • Read our documentation.
  • Try some API calls right in your browser.
  • Build your app using our community-supported resources.
  • Discuss with other developers in our forums.

Dos and Don'ts

Please take a moment to read our API Terms of Use. It's not as dull as it sounds! Here at Etsy we believe in openness and transparency in our business communications, and we've tried to make our Terms of Use as straightforward and easy-to-understand as possible. Here are some highlights:

  • Do help connect people with handmade products they'll enjoy.
  • Do include a link back to every listing's page on Etsy.com.
  • Do respect Etsy sellers by crediting their listings with their user or shop name.
  • Don't misrepresent Etsy sellers' listings by substantially altering their descriptions or artwork.
  • Do respect Etsy's identity and trademark by following our Trademark Guidelines.
  • Do include our standard disclaimer on pages that use Etsy's data.
  • Don't use the Etsy API to disparage or otherwise damage the reputation of Etsy sellers.
  • Don't use the Etsy API to set up a competing website or marketplace. All purchases must happen through Etsy.com.
