Spain’s Angeles Duran has come up with a plan end world hunger, get her government out of the red and make herself a very rich woman; at least she will be if she can figure out a way to enforce the user fees she wants to charge the population of Earth for the use of “her” sun.

How is this possible?  Well it turns out that there is an international agreement stating that no country may lay claim to a planet or star, but thanks to shoddy proofreading there is no language preventing individuals from screaming “Mine!” and staking a legal claim to any and all stars, planets and various bits of space stuff.  Duran  has a notary public issued document stating she is the “’owner of the Sun, a star of spectral type G2, located in the centre of the solar system, located at an average distance from Earth of about 149,600,000 kilometers’.

As for her user fees, the woman who proudly claimed “…I know the law… I did it but anyone else could have done it, it simply occurred to me first.’ Plans on giving half her proceeds to the Spanish government, 20% to the nation’s pension fund, 10% to research, 10% to ending world hunger, and keep a mere 10% all to herself. Getting hit by your own car is bad luck, if your car manages to run you over twice in the same day. You may want to rename it Christine and look into an exorcism.

A woman in Melbourne, Australia managed to survive her car’s homicidal rampage after she pulled into her driveway and forgot to use the parking brake. The car rolled as she got out, knocking her down and running over her legs and abdomen. The car continued rolling down an incline until it struck a fence and bounced back like a Bugs Bunny cartoon villain, running her over again as she lay helplessly in its path.

The victim is recovering in hospital in serious but stable condition and the we hope wherever the car is now, someone put on the parking brake. Read More…

Coupled with the slogan “Trust is just like me, but a bank.”  Bruce Willis has gone from playing the barefooted bane of bankrobbers to the spokesman for one of Russia’s banks.  Trust Bank has hired Mr Willis as their new representative,  stating that the man who coined the phrase “Yippee ki-yay, motherf**cker”   reflects the bank’s values in terms of “trust and dignity.”  Clearly Russian banks are a good bit different from their stuffy Capitalist cousins here in North America.

Willis will be the campaign front man for at least a year, replacing the bank’s last frontman Russian weight-lifter Vladimir Turchinsky.  Hopefully Willis will fare better than Vlad did,  the weight-lifter dropped dead without warning last year at age 46.
