4 Drinking Games You Could Play With Four Loko (And End Up Regretting)

four loko canIn the bare-knuckled world of carbonated malt liquor drinks, few have stood the test of time – but those that do get their own drinking games. Take Smirnoff Ice for example. When the whole ‘icing your bros’ phase was heavily rolling through North America, sales for Smirnoff probably increased a few percent, but they totally wimped out when they claimed that they were shocked and appalled that their product was being used in such an ‘inappropriate manner’. Yeah, right. You mean to tell us that people ‘responsibly drink and enjoy’ your horrendously sweet sugar-water-booze? That’s laughable.

With the recent uprising in Four Loko (or, 4Loko), we can probably expect to see certain trends rising in popularity by using this foul Jolly Rancher flavored malt liquor.

Here are five drinking games you could play with Four Loko, based on already popular drinking games:

Four Loko Pong

BERJAYA

Without a doubt, beer pong is popular with the college crowd, if not the most popular drinking game you can competitively play. Now, if you replaced the beer in your cups with Four Loko, you can almost guarantee that the degree of enthusiasm will spike from gentle tossing, to bloodsport. Taurine and guarana, some of the most common ingredients in energy drinks get your heart going whether or not you are even moving. Combine that with the thrill of any competitive sport, and you’ve got ragingly drunk men throwing a tiny ball into a cup and flipping tables over from the adrenaline rush.

Why it seems like a good idea: Makes beer pong look like child’s play.

Why you may end up regretting playing: Four Loko’s effects aside, you’re going to have blood to clean up off of the floors, not to mention numerous broken lamps, etc.

Loko-ing Your Bros

Much like the accidental success of a viral campaign that Smirnoff had nothing to do with, Loko-ing your bros could catch on if they started serving them in smaller portions. Nobody can chug a tallboy of that carbonated swamp juice without their eyes rolling into the back of their skulls. Some of the greatest ‘icing’ stories involved the element of surprise, like leaving one in the shower for your roommate to discover before going to work. Four Loko would likely get said roommate fired if he successfully downed it.

Why it seems like a good idea: Gets you intoxicated, quickly.

Why you may end up regretting playing: Barf. Everywhere. On your bosses desk, on your Xbox, just everywhere. Avoid at all costs.

Edward Lokohands

If you’re not familiar with Edward 40-hands, you can familiarize yourself here. If you are – you may already be intrigued at how it would play out if everyone was amped and trying to unzip their pants to use the washroom. Now, the premise is pretty simple: you tape a can of Four Loko to each hand (so, you’re consuming 32 ounces of LoKo, bro!) – and you’re not allowed to use your hands for anything until your drinks are completely finished. The hilarity that will come from everyone blacking out will be (hardly) remembered for years to come!

Why it seems like a good idea: We don’t actually think this sounds like a good idea.

Why you may end up regretting playing: You’ll black out for two days straight, just because you were trying to go to the washroom.

Four Loko Flip Cup

Another popular drinking game at college, as you may have guessed, is flippy cup. As the common theme of this post goes, you shouldn’t be surprised that we’re replacing the beer with Four Loko.

Why it seems like a good idea: You won’t realize your own strength after pounding back some Loko, so your accuracy may go to sh*t.

Why you may end up regretting playing: We don’t really see any down-side to this. Minus the taste.

6 Button-Smashing Facts about Street Fighter You May not Have Known

For a game that made its debut in Japanese arcades in 1987, Street Fighter has had quite an interesting history. We’ve come up on the 23rd Anniversary of the Street Fighter saga, and for that we’re celebrating some of the lesser-known facts about one of the most iconic fighting games to bless arcades and consoles across the globe.

Street Fighter has attracted fans from all parts of the world, and has actually been one of the most competed-over arcade games since Capcom released the first title.

Here are six interesting facts about Street Fighter you might not know.

ken vs ryu1) Ken and Ryu are the only characters that have appeared in every single Street Fighter title. In the first Street Fighter, you could only play as Ryu by default in single player, and player two as Ken in multiplayer. The two are best friends (and rivals) from different sides of the world. Ken is an American-born fighter, and Ryu from Japan. According to the storyline, their tournament lead them to take on the final boss, Sagat. In the final battle between Sagat and Ryu, Ryu defeated Sagat, leaving him with his iconic facial scar.

balrog street fighter2) In Japan, ‘Balrog’ is known as ‘M. Bison’ — the ‘M’ standing for Mike, an intentional parody of Mike Tyson. When the game went international, Capcom was suggested to change the name of the character, because he actually resembled Mike Tyson to the point of an infringement lawsuit. When they changed the names of the characters, they actually just switched M. Bison and Balrog’s names around. Balrog is now commonly referred to as ‘Boxer’, and M. Bison is referred to as ‘Dictator’.

3) The largest competitive Street Fighter event to date was Evo 2010. With 1800 entrants and cold, hard cash riding on the line for the champion, it was a hard battle fought and eventually won by an esteemed champion by the name of Daigo Umehara. Closely following him in second was an American by the name of Ricky Ortiz. Third place was taken by a Korean under the handle ‘Infiltration’.

Here is a video of the final battle of Evo 2010, in case you were interested:

4) There were two American Street Fighter movies made, the first, titled Street Fighter starring Jean Claude Van Damme as Guile, and Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue as Cammy. The second adaptation released in 2009 was called Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li which stars Kristin Kruek as Chun-Li, Chris Klein as Charlie, Michael Clarke Duncan as Balrog, and one of those dudes from the Black Eyed Peas (Taboo) as Vega.

5) Super Street Fighter 4 was the first game in the series to be released on console before hitting the arcade. The simple answer to why this happened, is because the arcade industry is slowly dying. Blame it on the recession, or newly formed anti-social behavior with this generation of couch-dwelling gamers. Arcades in North America are slowly closing their doors, making it difficult for game companies to justify making a true arcade game over a console game.

6) Street Fighter X Tekken is the first time that a Street Fighter game will actually become a crossover [Edit: with Namco]. Capcom does come out with a lot of crossovers, but this is the first time they’ve teamed up with Tekken. Announced at the “Street Fighter Mania!: SSFIV and Beyond” panel at Comic-Con 2010, it is another benchmark in the Street Fighter history books.

Holly Madison, Tony Hawk, and More — Stand-Up for Skateparks

Real Life Mafia Boss Arrested After Playing ‘Godfather’ on Xbox

Italy – real life Mafia boss Gerlandino Messina was ironically playing the Xbox game The Godfather during the time of his arrest on October 27, 2010, police report.

BERJAYA

The Premier of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi stated that the arrest was “an unprecedented success in the [government's] fight against organized crime.” Messina was one of Italy’s top 30 listed most dangerous fugitives, of which 28 have been arrested to date. Messina had been on the run since 1999, because he was wanted for numerous murders and of course for his association with the Mafia. Go figure.

godfather game for the xboxThe Godfather, the video game which Messina had been playing furiously is based on the popular Godfather movie trilogy. Police had previously found the same game in his multiple hideouts on other occasions as well. To his credit, the game is very good and makes great use of the cinematic license.

It’s almost like catching Tony Hawk “practicing” and playing endless amounts of his THQ franchised games.
