Welcome to Political Correction

June 01, 2010 9:58 am ET — Media Matters Action Network

Media Matters Action Network today announced the launch of Political Correction, a new project aimed at holding conservative politicians and advocacy groups accountable.  As the organization grows and continues to increase its role in the progressive movement, the new brand name will enable web visitors, bloggers, and journalists easier, faster access to the information they need.

Political Correction will expand on MMAN's core work of highlighting and correcting conservative misinformation. In addition to a more user-friendly website, Political Correction will feature an "Eye on the Right" email newsletter and a special section for MJ Rosenberg's Foreign Policy Matters.  Over the next year, Political Correction has plans to double in size, ramp up its video tracking program, and increase outreach to media outlets and allied organizations.

"The legislative battles of 2009 proved the Right has no interest in reality," said Ari Rabin-Havt, Media Matters Vice President for Research and Communication. "With no ideas of their own, conservatives resort to fighting progress with lies and fear.  Political Correction will confront their lies, expose their deceit, and ensure all Americans know the truth."

Since its launch in May 2009, Media Matters Action Network put conservative politicians and advocacy groups on defense through 800 fact checks, 1,300 blog posts, and 520 videos.  As the only organization - progressive or conservative - comprehensively monitoring the House and Senate floors, MMAN was able to highlight conservatives' extreme rhetoric and show Americans the real nature of today's Republican Party.
