TPM Reader JL recounts his unusual flight into DC for the sanity rally:
My girlfriend and I cashed in our miles so we could fly in for the rally. As we boarded our flight from Minneapolis into Reagan, it was largely an older crowd, and we figured we must be the only ones on the flight headed for the rally.

Usually one serious sexual harassment allegation is enough to cause real difficulties for a first time political candidate. With Tom Ganley, Republican challenger in Ohio's 13th congressional district, we've now got a second one. Another woman, Dianne Hill, just filed a police report.

Tea Partiers have launched "Operation Alaska Chaos", an effort to flood the official list of filed 'write in' candidates to bury Lisa Murkowski's name in a big long list. And it seems to be working.

Sharron Angle tells Nevada reporter she'll answer questions about foreign policy and national security after she becomes senator. See the video.
Late Update: D'oh! I guess that reporter's learned his lesson. Angle's campaign just banned his TV station from the campaign's election night event over the foreign policy question.

President Obama just appeared in the White House briefing room and confirmed that the two suspicious packages that originated in Yemen and were intercepted on UPS flights contained explosive material.

TPM Reader JB checks in upon arriving in DC:
As we began our descent into DC from Chicago the pilot came on and wished good luck to everyone running in the marathon, "and even better luck to everyone seeking sanity in Washington, D.C."
As I mentioned the other day, if you're coming to the rallies in DC this weekend, keep us posted on what you see, hear, and experience. We're especially looking for photos and video. Thanks in advance.

U.S. fighter jets are escorting an airliner from the United Arab Emirates to JFK airport in New York, CNBC is reporting. Not clear yet what the circumstances are there. It's reportedly Emirates Airlines Flight 201.

After a lot of conflicting reporting, we're getting a clearer picture on just what happened this morning to ground cargo flights in Philadelphia and Newark. The incident was triggered when suspicious packages bound for the United States from Yemen were found overnight on board two UPS flights, one in Dubai, the other in England, according to a statement from the White House. As a precaution, flights at those two U.S. airports were given closer scrutiny. At this point no devices have been found at either U.S. airport. You can read the entire statement here.

OK, folks, it's the Friday before the election, and what happens this weekend is going to be decisive in a lot of these really tight races. We're going to be working all weekend to bring you the very latest on the elections -- in addition to covering the Comedy Central rallies in DC (just the phrase "Comedy Central rallies" makes me laugh).
So check in with TPM this weekend, but also keep sending us your election tips, insights, and take on what's happening in your neck of the woods. With your help, we're able to surface stories that might otherwise fly under the national radar.

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights was supposed to vote today on its report "exposing" the purported politicization of the Obama Justice Department but one of the Democrats on the commission walked out to deny the majority Republicans a quorum -- so instead the commission griped about TPM publishing a leaked copy of the report yesterday.

Voter fraud bamboozlement cross-pollinates with anti-immigrant xenophobia when GOP House candidate warns voters that Democrats are going to bus in Mexicans to steal the election.

The most striking thing about the Illinois Senate race is that neither party is particularly thrilled with the quality of its nominee. That may be one of the reasons the race has not had as high a national profile. But it's still a very competitive race -- tight enough that how well the third party candidates in the field perform could have an outsize effect on the outcome.

Republican sources tell Brian Beutler they expect a relatively orderly and ordinary transition for the new leadership if Republicans win back the House.

Beware the zombie voters! Rachel Slajda looks at one Virginia tea partier's plan to prevent Democrats from stealing the election by voting under the names of the dead.

Kendrick Meek is announcing at a hastily arranged press conference that he's still in the Florida Senate race and is not dropping out: "The press report that's out there is inaccurate at best."
--David Kurtz
Bill Clinton did press Kendrick Meek to drop of the Florida Senate race, a Clinton spokesperson confirms to the Miami Herald. However, no mention in the Herald report of whether Meek twice agreed to drop out then changed his mind both times, as Politico reported.
It's the second point that seems key. Clinton pressing Meek to endorse Crist is interesting but not terribly surprising given the poll numbers. But if it's confirmed that Meek went so far as to agree to the deal before changing his mind, it's hard to see how Meek can be back out on the hustings tomorrow asking for votes.
Why does this all matter? The polls clearly show Marco Rubio set to win Tuesday, with Crist finishing second and Meek a distant third. Meek's withdrawal could throw enough votes to Crist for him to overtake Rubio and deny the Republicans a Senate seat.
