(Examiner) – Smedley Butler (and here) was the most honored man in Marine Corps history. He wrote and spoke that the purpose of US wars is millions and billions in profits for America’s leading “bankers, industrialists, and speculators.�? Major General Smedley Butler retired from the Marine Corps in 1931 at the age of 48. He had faced gunfire 120 times and the famed columnist Will Rogers wrote of Butler, “He is what I would call a natural born warrior. He will fight anybody, any time….He carries every medal we ever gave out.
