In the wake of the HAPPY news that Mariah Carey is pregs with his first child, Nick Cannon rushed out yesterday to pick up a bunch of balloons to celebrate his impending fatherhood …

… of course, the dad-to-be could only be bothered with carrying a couple of balloons. Nick left the hard work of carrying all the other balloons to his assistant. I bet he is happy, y’all. I can’t wait until baby Cannon is born!

The ladies of Saturday Night Live, including Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, Cheri Oteri, Kristen Wiig, Laraine Newman, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon, Nora Dunn, Rachel Dratch and Tina Fey will be joined by funnylady Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bravo TV honcho Andy Cohen in a comedy skit spoofing The Real Housewives franchise for their upcoming The Women of SNL comedy special set to air on NBC on Monday November 1 … and here is our first look at the ladies of SNL doing their best housewives impression:

When you add the very funny women of ‘Saturday Night Live’ with the hilarious absurdity that is ‘Real Housewives’ reunions, what do you get? Gold, from the looks of it. Check out Bravo host Andy Cohen playing ringmaster with Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, Nora Dunn, Ana Gasteyer, Rachel Dratch, Cheri Oteri and Kristen Wiig all channeling their best ‘Real Housewives.’ The segment is set for NBC’s ‘Women of SNL’ special set to air Nov. 1. The set is pure ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ season 1 reunion, and those one-shoulder dresses are a staple of ‘Real Housewives’ fashion. In fact, hasn’t the Kelly Bensimon worn the exact dress Molly Shannon has on? Other photos included several of the women holding individual microphones, hopefully singing wonderful Auto-Tuned songs. Whether the women are playing actual ‘Housewives’ or just versions of themselves remains to be seen. The aforementioned ‘SNL’ veterans will be joined by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Laraine Newman and Amy Poehler to create new content for the ‘Saturday Night Live’ retrospective. That’s a whole lot of funny on tap.

Shia LaBeouf had a pretty strenuous day on the Los Angeles, CA set of the next Transformers film yesterday as he was strung up on wires to film a flying scene in front of a blue screen. CGI effects will be laid behind him in the final version of the film but as you can tell from the following photos, Shia‘s character Sam gets in some serious trubs in the next Transformers movie:

In the first two Transformers films, Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky has battled the deadliest of robots and nearly died on several occasions. And it seems the third installment of the film franchise will live up to its predecessors, as LaBeouf showed as he filmed intricate aerial scenes on the set of the movie in Los Angeles yesterday. The 24-year-old actor was strapped securely into a harness before being hoisted into the air to shoot the scenes in front of a huge blue screen. LaBeouf was also seen shooting scenes alongside co-star Patrick Dempsey. There have been few details revealed about the storyline of the upcoming film, director Michael Bay has said that this is likely to be the last movie in the franchise. He said: ‘As a trilogy, it really ends. It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending. The movie is more of a mystery. It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened.’ Transformers 3, officially titled Transformers: The Dark of the Moon, also sees stars Frances McDormand and John Malkovich join the cast. Talking about Malkovich’s role in the film, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura said: ‘Malkovich is going to have a lot of interaction with Shia in that movie. And he’s got a really fun character. And he’s going to bring a really interesting spin to that franchise, so it’s going to be great.’

You know, wearing that harness and gettin’ yanked around by all those wires sure sounds like it hurts. I wonder if Shia was left with any marks on his body as a result? Fortunately, there are a couple of shirtless photos of Mr. LaBeouf that answer that question, after the jump …

Yesterday and today we got to know Lynn Patridge, mother of former Hills star Audrina Patridge, a little better and right now we get to learn more about fellow ex-Hills co-star Heidi Montag‘s mother Darlene Egelhoff. Darlene appeared on The Hills a few times to do battle with Spencer Pratt and was last seen on the show voicing her displeasure at all of the cosmetic surgeries Heidi had done to herself. In a new interview with Darlene, we learn that she is now totally cut off from her daughter … and broke. Darlene has been forced to take a job as a maid and launched a personal blog in order to try and reach out to her daughter:

Darlene Egelhoff, the mother of U.S. reality television personality Heidi Montag, says the recession has forced her to work as a maid. Egelhoff told TV’s “Inside Edition” she and her husband owned a restaurant for 21 years, but had to close it because of the economy. She said they have been struggling to pay their bills since and the only job she could find in Crested Butte, Colo., was cleaning houses. The celebrity mom admitted it has been awkward when a client recognizes her. “That’s been very humbling for me and I very much appreciate that experience because I don’t ever want to get full of myself and think I’m too good to do anything,” Egelhoff said. She also tearfully revealed she has not spoken to Montag in nearly nine months and doesn’t think her daughter knows what she has been going through. The mother and daughter became estranged after Egelhoff appeared on an episode of “The Hills” and showed her disappointment in Montag’s decision to undergo 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day. Egelhoff said she is so desperate to communicate with Montag she started a blog called “Metamorphosis of a Mother” hoping Montag will read it, “Inside Edition” said Thursday.

I have to say … I feel bad for Darlene. Forget that she has to find work as a maid, times are tough for a lot of people, working as a maid is honest work. What I feel bad about is how estranged she has been from her daughter because of her daughter’s lust for fame. It’s just really sad to see what reality TV does to some families. It’s very rare to hear of a story about how reality TV brings a family together … more often the case, moronic lust for quick fame on a TV show ends up ruining relationships. I’m certain she will work tirelessly to try and mend fences with her daughter … but as long as Heidi is under Spencer‘s spell, Darlene will have a long time to wait. So sad :(

Last night was a quite one here at the ol’ homestead … I decided to stay in so that I could watch ABC‘s airing of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown:

I’ve watched The Great Pumpkin every Hallowe’en for as long as I can remember … it never gets old. I know that some of y’all may have missed seeing it last night … so thankfully, ABC is reairing it tonight at 8PM. Tune in, DVR it — don’t miss out! It’s a classic.

Watching Charlie Brown reminded me of all the great Hallowe’ens of my youth and really helped get me in the spirit of the season:

We are very lucky that Hallowe’en is on Sunday this year because that gives us a 3-day Hallowe’en weekend! I’ll be going with Darion to a Heroes & Villains party tonight where I’ll wear my first of 3 costumes. Tomorrow, David and I will be joined by a gang of friends at a Masquerade Party where I’ll be rockin’ costume number 2. Sunday, we’ll be going to 2 parties around town and possibly the big West Hollywood Hallowe’en fete where I’ll be wearing costume number 3.
