I voted today. cupla weeks ago I made sure sister Tory's nursing home got in the absentee ballot application business. didn't take more than a gentle nudge in the right spot. come day before election I'll be walking the hometown streets with voting reminders to known Dem voters. that's how elections are won. most of the rest is just fun and games.

anyone who knows Toledo is probably familiar with Southwyck Mall on Reynolds between Heatherdowns and Glendale in South Toledo. was one of the first batch of enclosed malls. the sucker is gone, vanished. what occupies the space now is about twenty-five acres of nothing. looks crazy weird. ...was over in that neighborhood using a Fedex Kinkos. and behind the Kinkos is the world's most depressing KMart. one of those that didn't qualify for the upgrade to Big KMart. where the trash blowing around the parking lot actually improves the ambiance of the place. stopped in to buy some crap and I started up a conversation with the checkout girl. we had plenty of time to talk, no one behind me in line. sweet open faced black girl with the biggest hoop earrings I'd ever seen. 4+ inches in diameter. I was wowed and I told her so. she told me her Mom hates them. this is what her Mom says to her, "the bigger the hoop, the bigger the ho".
