60 Minutes Blows Team Obama’s 9.5% Unemployment Claim Out of the Water
Filed Under Economy, Media, Politics | 14 Comments
Last night I watched the entire segment and couldn’t believe that Team Obama couldn’t manage to get this story spiked until after the election — possibly an indicator that their days of having the MSM on puppet strings have drawn to a close.
Obama keeps hanging his hat on the 9.5-ish percent unemployment rate, which is bad enough, but Scott Pelley reports why it’s “much worse” than that.
The story doesn’t directly link the massive economic woes to any politician in particular, and Obama would no doubt point to it and say “look what Bush did” and “imagine how bad it would have been if we hadn’t acted quickly” — but I’m sure this isn’t the kind of thing the Dems wanted to see mere days before an election.
The Dems are already facing an historic avalanche, and 60 Minutes just shoveled on some extra snow:
It makes liberal “Republican” Ah-nuld in Kahl-ee-fuah-knee-ah not come across as very competent either. Sad thing is, in spite of California’s woes, they’re still going to re-elect the likes of Barbara Boxer and probably Jerry Brown. What’s the definition of “insanity” again?
You can watch the entire segment here.

Michelle Obama Retains Title as the Bermuda Triangle of Fashion Designers
Filed Under Business, Politics | 11 Comments

Last week I wrote about a ridiculous article in New York Magazine citing a Harvard Business Review study which concluded that Michelle Obama has generated $2.7 billion in value for clothing companies. This is due to what is claimed is the public clamoring for anything worn by the First Lady.
In that post, I cited evidence to the contrary — two designers who have done exactly what you might expect in an Obama economy and gone out of business.
Here’s another story that makes the Harvard Business Review’s “Michelle Obama is a one-woman fashion stimulus!” story even more laughable:
Even a boost from Michelle Obama hasn’t helped ease New York designer Tracy Feith’s financial woes.
Feith and longtime partner Susan Winget have been virtually invisible as of late, which may have something to do with the more than $200,000 he and his company owe to landlords in Manhattan and in Montauk.
In January 2009, Feith got the most coveted fashion seal of approval – outfitting the First Lady – when Obama stepped out in his floral frock during inauguration festivities. By May of that year, however, Feith was evicted from the Madison Ave. storefront (between 93rd and 94th Sts.) where he operated his boutique. By December, a judgment was issued in Manhattan Supreme Court ordering Feith’s corporation to pay $77,060.38 in rent he owed to his landlord, KPLJ LLC.
And last August, another judgment handed down in Supreme Court determined that Feith himself was on the hook for an additional $152,745.27 because he had personally guaranteed the lease. (The amount includes court costs and damages.)
I’m thinking “fashion designer bailout.”
If Michelle Obama is giving the fashion industry a $2.7 billion boost, it’s only because most of that $2.7 billion is not being used to pay debts.

Clooney vs. Looney
Filed Under Entertainment, Politics | 3 Comments
Bill Maher had as a guest George Clooney. True, Clooney is a Hollywood liberal, so I don’t think Maher was expecting to be stopped in his tracks the way he was.
Here’s the setup line from Maher, where he parroted the tired old “conservatives don’t care about people” bull:
MAHER: I think this is a big difference between liberals and conservatives. You know, I don’t think conservatives are bad people. I think they have a hard time being empathetic to people who are not like them at all.
Clearly Maher expected Clooney to take the bait and run with it, but instead Maher, not to mention the majority of his audience, came off looking like the clueless asshats:
I don’t think Clooney intended that as a smackdown, but that’s what it turned out to be.
Here’s another fact Maher can pretend to ignore: Conservatives are more charitable givers than liberals — probably because the left is far more likely to take the “empathetic” approach and wait for the government to fix everything.

I Can See Palin Mocking the History-Challenged Left From My House
Filed Under Moonbats, Politics | 5 Comments
Last week, Sarah Palin warned Republicans against getting overconfident, saying “don’t party like it’s 1773 just yet.”
The super-smart left snickered at her stupidity. Oh that dumb ol’ Sarah:

WTF happened in 1773? Oh, not much:

This wouldn’t even have been funny if the historical ignorance wasn’t coming from a bunch of smug liberals who know what’s best for everybody else. These are the folks who champion themselves the best and brightest while calling all those like Sarah Palin who disagree stupid hayseeds.
But it hasn’t ended yet. Palin, never one to miss an opportunity to milk some fun from her opponents kneejerk idiocy, made a surprise appearance at a Tea Party Express event in Arizona and is now generously giving any remaining liberal morons the opportunity to “call out her idiocy” once again:

All I’d suggest Sarah do is change the “On Nov. 2nd” to “On Nov. 3rd” and hope that the libs assume she’s correct this time.

New Posts at Michelle Malkin
Filed Under Announcements | 13 Comments
Some of you know that the amazing Michelle Malkin is good enough to allow me to blog over at her website, so sometimes if you don’t see new posts here, check over there.
Normally I don’t have time to do a separate post here linking to what I’ve written at Michelle’s place, but because today I have four posts so far there, here are the links:
–Election Year Hail Mary: Obama Finally Discovers “By Their Creator” (hey, there it is!)
–The “Tea Partier/Hitler Comparison” Celebutard of the Day (because I believe that every time a Hollywood lefty is bashed, an angel gets its wings)
–Report: Michelle Obama to Meet With Commercial Sex Workers in India (they do the same thing this Congress and president does, except cheaper and classier)
–When Unauthorized Pledges of Allegiance Attack (totally awesome)
It was a good day — lots of writing, a Michigan State comeback win over Northwestern, and now we’re off to a friend’s birthday party. Time to relax! Enjoy your Saturday night, all!

Joe Biden: Republicans Have Spent a Hunnerd Kajillion Bajillion Dollars on Advertising
Filed Under Politics | 14 Comments
Democrats like Joe Biden are so over-inflating their claims that now even the New York Times can’t cover for them:
Conservative groups have not dumped $200 billion in political ads on the heads of Democratic candidates.
It evidently just feels that way to the White House.
In an interview with Al Hunt of Bloomberg News scheduled to be shown Friday night, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. commented on the need for disclosure when corporate interests contribute to political groups.
“I was amazed at the amount of money, this $200 billion of money that is — where there’s no accountability,” he said. “When I say accountability, we don’t know where it’s coming from. There’s no disclosure, so the folks watching the ad can’t make a judgment based upon motive when you say it’s paid for by so-and-so.”
Mr. Biden clearly meant “million” with an “M,” not “billion” with a “B.”
But his tongue slipped again a moment later. “So it really — I’ve never seen this before, so the only caveat I’d put in terms of the House is how much impact this $200 billion are going to mean.”
It’s not a “slip of the tongue” — these guys throw numbers without knowing or caring what they mean or if they’re accurate. Besides, great wasters of other peoples’ money in Washington are probably unable to comprehend anything under a billion, so we’ll have to forgive Biden’s apparent inability to wrap his head around an amount lower than that.
And remember, this is “Sheriff Joe,” the guy who’s in charge of keeping track of every dollar of stimulus money. I’d hate to see what number somebody whose not dedicated to accuracy and accountability would come up with. Somebody who can’t catch the difference between a million and a billion twice in the same short interview? Sure, let’s put him in charge of monitoring the outlay of a trillion taxpayer dollars (or was that a billion? Or a million? Eh, doesn’t matter…)
Biden’s saying that a lot of that money the GOP is spending on ads — a quadrillion bazillion according to Joe’s latest count — comes from foreign PACs. Democrats don’t do that. What? Oh, nevermind.

Union Stagehand Setting Up For Obama LA Rally Sent Home for Wearing Bush Shirt
Filed Under Politics | 14 Comments
And no, not even a George W. Bush shirt… but his father.
A union worker in Los Angeles was setting up a stage for use at an Obama/Dem rally & traffic jam-fest this afternoon, and he was wearing a USS George H.W. Bush sweatshirt and hat. His son serves on the ship.
The union told him to go home and turn the sweatshirt inside out and to ditch the hat.
News story video by way of HAP:
Hope, Change and intolerant Union thuggery at its conjoined finest.
I thank his son for his service even though the union dembots can’t or won’t allow his father to do it publicly.
Note: As I mentioned in comments, I’ve seen this story reported as the union member was fired — maybe he was — but the reporter uses that word, and the man says he was sent home to change (but wouldn’t). I’m not sure if he was fired, quit or was technically suspended, but either way it’s a stupid reason to get hassled. (Update: Yup, fired)
In a related story, a union worker caught eating lunch from a can of Bush’s Baked Beans has been suspended for two weeks.
Update:
Just to reiterate, union workers are not allowed political clothing of any kind while at work before or during a presidential event:

Okay, Clint didn’t say “Obama doesn’t make my day,” but I think it would have been cool if he had.
Actually Eastwood said it this way:
Clint Eastwood, legendary actor and director, told Katie Couric that while President Obama is a “nice fella,” he’s “not a fan of what he’s doing at the moment.”
During an interview about his latest film “Hereafter,” Eastwood told Couric that the president is not “governing” and he’s laying out lines in the hopes that people will believe him “so he can stay in his position.”
That’s kind of a nice way of saying “he’s lying his ass off trying to stay in power,” isn’t it? I wonder if that upset the Perky one, who is now forced with facing the possibility of having to report that Clint Eastwood is a racist.
Eastwood’s one of those non-liberal Hollywood rarities whose career has been such a success that he can speak his mind without fear of being excommunicated by the libs who run Tinseltown.

Former Chairman of Joint Chiefs: President Clinton Lost Launch Codes, With One Glaring Exception of Course
Filed Under Politics | 15 Comments

The card with the nuclear launch codes on it that is always supposed to be near the president is referred to as “the biscuit.”
The former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs claims then President Clinton lost it, and for several weeks. Gee, he wouldn’t have been distracted by anything else, would he?
Gen. Hugh Shelton, who served under Clinton as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, tells the story in his just-published memoir, “Without Hesitation: The Odyssey of an American Warrior.”
At one point during the Clinton administration,” Shelton writes, “the codes were actually missing for months. [...] That’s a big deal — a gargantuan deal.”
Shelton claims the story has never been released before, but Ret. Air Force Lt. Col Robert Patterson told a very similar account in his own book, published seven years ago.
Patterson was one of the men who carried the football, and he says it was literally the morning after the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke that he made a routine request of the president to present the card so that he could swap it out for an updated version.
“He thought he just placed them upstairs,” Patterson recalled. “We called upstairs, we started a search around the White House for the codes, and he finally confessed that he in fact misplaced them. He couldn’t recall when he had last seen them.”
Somewhere there’s a copy of “Leaves of Grass” with the world’s most potentially dangerous bookmark in it.
I can see where there might have been a misunderstanding. Shelton or Patterson might have asked through a locked Oval Office door, “Mr. President, do you have your hands on the biscuit?” Bill would have said back, “Um, as a matter of fact, yes.”
If he’d have been asked to recite the numeric code, it would have been “oh oh oh oh oh oh!”
Clinton might not have been the first to misplace the nuke codes though:
Consider the old story that Jimmy Carter left his biscuit in a suit that got sent to the dry cleaners. Today, no one will confirm the story, but no one will deny it either.
We can be fairly certain that if the Clinton launch codes ended up where I think they might have, they did not go to the dry cleaners.
The story from ABC News:
