Virginia Thomas Asks Anita Hill To Apologize For Clarence Thomas Sexually Harassing Her

When you wonder what sort of insanity would lead a woman to marry Clarence Thomas, now Virginia Thomas has answered the question.
She called up Anita Hill and demand that Hill apologize. Hill! Thomas is the one who harassed this woman, not the other way around. Insane.
President Obama Going On Daily Show October 27

President Barack Obama is taking his campaign message to ‘The Daily Show’ with Jon Stewart.
White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer says Obama is taping an appearance on Oct. 27, just days before the Nov. 2 elections. Stewart is coming to Washington next week for the ‘Rally to Restore Sanity’ he is holding three days later on Saturday, Oct. 30, on the National Mall.
Perverting History: Virginia Textbook Said Thousands Of Blacks Fought For South In Civil War
This is the kind of excrement that gets through when we allow the conservative movement to infest our education system:
A textbook distributed to Virginia fourth-graders says that thousands of African Americans fought for the South during the Civil War — a claim rejected by most historians but often made by groups seeking to play down slavery’s role as a cause of the conflict.
The passage appears in ‘Our Virginia: Past and Present,’ which was distributed in the state’s public elementary schools for the first time last month. The author, Joy Masoff, who is not a trained historian but has written several books, said she found the information about black Confederate soldiers primarily through Internet research, which turned up work by members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

You’ve got to be kidding me. Florida, if you elect this guy I’ll have even less esteem for you than I already have.
Marc Ambinder Clings To The Myth That Sarah Palin Isn’t Stupid
This is where the media shows its true colors, its real bias. It’s not conservative or liberal, but its a bias in favor of the spineless. If something is glaringly obvious, they should just say it. But they’re so afraid of the right browbeating them as “biased” they produce statements like this from The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder (which comes after scolding liberals for having the nerve to critique Palin after the press reports everything she does like it’s the moon landing):
Palin might not able to BS her way through an Ivy League seminar like everyone here at the Atlantic can, she’s not very good when interviewers aren’t friendly, she is careless and inattentive to detail, but stupid she isn’t — she’s not stupid. She knows how to manipulate the media.
There are Republicans out there whose ideas I vehemently disagree with and whose policy proposals I find stupid – for instance Jeb Bush, Dick Cheney, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh – but I don’t think they’re actually stupid human beings (though I reserve judgement on Gingrich). On the other hand, people like Palin (and O’Donnell) are actually stupid.
There’s no problem in the media noting this stunningly clear fact. Rush Limbaugh & Co. will say mean things about you anyway.

GOP Vote Suppression Plot Vs. Latinos In Nevada Is Thwarted
Univision decided to do the right thing:
The Spanish-language network Univision has refused to air an ad from a GOP-led Hispanic group telling Hispanic voters to sit out the race between Sharron Angle and Harry Reid.
‘Univision will not be running any spots from Latinos for Reform related to voting,’ said a spokeswoman for the network, Carolina Valencia, in an email. ‘Univision prides itself on promoting civic engagement and our extensive national campaigns encourage Hispanics to vote.’
As I’ve noted before: It’s mighty telling that the right sees success when people – particularly people of color – don’t vote in great numbers.
ESPN Got NFL Coaches To Call Time Outs On Monday Night Football

I know that the NFL prides itself on being a TV-friendly sport, but this is ridiculous.
Wondering why Tennessee’s 30-3 Monday night rout of Jacksonville was extended enough for Titans running back Chris Johnson to rumble for a meaningless 35-yard touchdown following the two-minute warning?
Jeff Fisher, Johnson’s coach, tried to downplay the late touchdown in his postgame press conference. He was looking to run out the clock with a 23-3 lead, but he noted after the game that ESPN requested him and Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio to call timeouts to help the network.
‘Jack used his timeouts,’ Fisher told reporters. ‘My understanding is they needed network timeouts, and that’s why Jack used his timeouts. They came over and asked me to do it, but I said, ‘I was hoping to get a first down and kneel on it.”

Michelle Obama: Walking, Talking Fashion Stimulus
Via the Economist comes this look at the first lady’s effect on the fashion industry:
Christine O’Donnell Is Stupid: Doesn’t Know The First Amendment

Republican Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell of Delaware on Tuesday questioned whether the U.S. Constitution calls for a separation of church and state, appearing to disagree or not know that the First Amendment bars the government from establishing religion.
The exchange came in a debate before an audience of legal scholars and law students at Widener University Law School, as O’Donnell criticized Democratic nominee Chris Coons’ position that teaching creationism in public school would violate the First Amendment by promoting religious
doctrine.Coons said private and parochial schools are free to teach creationism but that ‘religious doctrine doesn’t belong in our public schools.’
‘Where in the Constitution is the separation of church and state?’ O’Donnell asked him.
When Coons responded that the First Amendment bars Congress from making laws respecting the establishment of religion, O’Donnell asked: ‘You’re telling me that’s in the First Amendment?’”
Look at the way the AP bends over backwards for her: “appearing to disagree or not know that the First Amendment bars the government from establishing religion.” She didn’t appear. She just simply didn’t know. They don’t know. They don’t understand. They are ignorant and stupid and the media needs to stop carrying water for them, once and for all.
