Trailer 497 of 497
Under any of its myriad reissue titles, Tobe Hooper's undeservedly obscure followup to his groundbreaking independent Texas Chainsaw Massacre is an intensely bleak, studio-bound Hollywood B-movie concoction. ran into new TFH guru Lloyd Kaufman at the TFH offices and turned him on to LA writer Collyn Mccoy -- who has now been signed by Troma to ink the latest iteration of The Toxic Avenger! In addition, Lloyd is heading into production on Father's Day, a followup to their successful Mother's Day, which is itself currently being remade by TFH guru Darren Boasman! Small world, huh?

A lot of people seem to have a real ax to grind when it comes to this film. Did they happen to forget (?) that it was one of the very first anti-violence horror films - anywhere in the world - which used extreme, freakishly violent scenes to comment on some very serious real-world issues...
I also really enjoyed the characters here. This is the film I immediately refer back to when I think of how characterization in a 'realistic' horror film is meant to be done...
Agreed on almost everything said above (I think it best to stay away from discussions on aught remakes of 70's and 80's horror efforts). When I think of horror, this movie definitely makes an appearence in the Top 10 most effective and important films...
I may have to check around to find my heart on this one. ...
