Gift Shopping For The Winter Holidays

Here we are again, days before Christmas..and myself not even giving a second thought to Holiday Shopping. Usually that is because I just don't do it, the shopping I mean. Not to sound like a Grinch or anything but most of the people in my famiy are all grown-up and we don't exchange gifts anymore..aside for some of the teenagers. With the amount of people that are in the house at any given time during the Holiday Season, they are usually showered with gifts.. and actually.. there are always people around that are showering them with gifts all year! So having said that.. spending time together over good food, games and stories is more than a great gift for most of us.

This year will be no different as I head home for the Holidays, the house will be filled with people from all over the Country.. laughing and ready for good food and story telling. Only I have actually decided to get in on a bit of the gift-giving. We have had a big year with a newborn or two, some marriages, marriage engagements and just the event of the kids now becoming adults. I will say that the teenagers in the family are few, so they get spoiled all year long.. so Christmas time is great for them as more family arrive to shower them with gifts.

As may have been previously noted, I am a big fan of doing many things, including shopping, online. One of my eldest cousins had been asking me for the places I go to get this done. My usual ONE-STOP shop is amazon.com. I have never gone to amazon and not found exactly what I was looking for, for the best price availabale.. and that usually includes Free Shipping. This year I branched out a bit and added JackThreads.com , and Threadless.com into the mix for some great gift ideas. 

With JackThreads you have to sign up to gain entry.. it is a free invite if you click the link, and once you do sign up it's pretty simple from there. It is just their way of getting the emails to you that include sale items and specials that are going on. I spent $90 on 5 very cool items from JackThreads, and that included free shipping on orders over $75 and Threadless had a great $10 sale with free shipping as well on orders over $75. It was a great thing. 

One of the other places I got some great gifts this year was some quality jewelry for the girls from ZYKDesigns on Etsy and ... The Jewelry is made by a close friend and has always been a big hit with the girls.. It is quality stuff with a fresh edge to it and I am proud to show off her designs. She always has some cool gifts ideas and I am looking forward to a line of cuff-links someday :) (hint)

The Holidays In Las Vegas

For as long as I have been in Las Vegas, I think I have always flown away to my home-town for the Holiday Season.. or at least for part of it. I have had to work certain Holidays like Christmas or New Years Eve, which doesn't necessarily bother me. In any event, I have at least had time to go home and spend with my family. This year will be no different and I am fortunate for that. My place of employment has taken a 2 week hiatus of sorts.. 10 days anyway.. and it has allowed all of the staff to get away and spend it with their families.

Though I myself with have to be back for the actual Christmas Day, I will be going home to see the fam too. It's a welcome break in my routine that I look forward to. A few days of Mom's home-cooking, and the usual slapstick that is my immediate family, will make me a happier guy all around. Until then I have been stocking up on rest, which I am sure I will only get more of.. revv'd up my workout routine to accommodate for what magnificent eating is to come.. and cleaned out my home to help refresh my thinking. It's all part of a plan to ease into another great year here in Las Vegas and make things a bit more streamlined.
