Dickie Cranwell began telling people a few weeks ago that he would be leaving soon as DPVA Chairman- and the internal positioning to replace him began in earnest. Acting as the point man for these discussions for Senator Warner was David Hallock- while Senator Webb disengaged from the discussion, leaving Warner to "make the pick". So who is David Hallock?
Hallock spent the past few years as a Vice President at Kemper Consulting. This is the same lobbying firm we covered this summer that appeared to be mixing money from local governments into accounts that donated money to members of the General Assembly. In other words- an almost direct pass through of your tax dollars into the campaign coffers of Delegates and Senators.
Now that David has taken a government job and is being paid by your taxes- he's spending his time acting as a point man for Senator Warner on political matters such as a party chair? Apparently this guy has absolutely no ethical compass whatsoever on appropriate behavior.
More important- why is corporate lobbying shill involved on any level in deciding who will lead the Democratic Party? Hallock served as a lobbyist in Richmond for "causes" like Virginia Uranium- a group trying to change environmental laws in the state to allow for the mining of uranium. In fact that very issue is one that Democrats are currently trying to use to weaken Robert Hurt in his race against Tom Perriello.
Is this what the Democratic Party of Virginia has become? Shills for Uranium mining deciding who the Party Chair should be- while being paid with your tax dollars to do it?
