Here's a photo from the inside of the Beachwood Market, in Beachwood Village, the gateway to the Hollywood Hills. If you click on the photo and expand it, you can see a still from the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which was shot in the area.When David J. Schow brought me here the other day, he noted that the still had been placed directly above the vegetable section. Which, if you've seen Body Snatchers, is amusing to no end.

The Beachwood seems to have taken over for the Irvine Ranch Market in the Beverly Center, which back in the 1980s used to have busloads of Japanese tourists with cameras taking photos of the produce. Yes, the produce is wonderful, as is the seafood section. I always wanted to set a shoot-out between the pawns and the Maui onions.

I've been to that market! Very cool. I've even been to the Bronson Caves in Griffith Park where Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter came to a reckoning in the film. All great locations. Thanks, Duane.
p.s., And Fred Z. is quite correct about the old Irvine Ranch Market in the Beverly Center (Bed, Bath and Beyond now inhabits that space). Even the folks that lived and worked in the area would come to stare at what they had there.
