Aretha Franklin has cancelled all concert dates and personal appearances until May. A spokeswoman for the 68-year-old Queen of Soul said the singer’s doctors “have required her to do so”. The news came several days after publicist Tracey Jordan announced that Franklin had been discharged from a Detroit hospital following a brief stay.

Ms Jordan refused to say whether the events were connected and did not offer any details about Franklin’s condition. One of the shows being cancelled is a Christmas concert scheduled for Detroit’s Fox Theatre on December 9. Theatre operator Olympia Entertainment said the show was being called off “due to medical reasons”.

Mario is no longer facing assault charges. RadarOnline.com is reporting that the singer’s mother, Shawnita Hardaway, appeared in the District Court of Maryland Wednesday and requested that the charges she filed against her son be dropped. Read the rest of this entry »

Fans won’t have to wait until T.I. is to released from prison enjoy his next album. In a pre-recorded message aired on MTV’s “The Seven,” Tip announces that his upcoming record will drop next month. He states, quote, “My new album, entitled ‘No Mercy,’ will be released on December 7th.” T.I. goes on to say that he appreciates his fans for all their support, adding, quote:

Despite an erroneous report from a Rikers Officer on Lil Wayne’s jail release date, this morning rapper Lil Wayne was set free! Apparently in an effort to dodge  media during his release Officer Caraballo had told MTV “”His time was miscalculated. He owed, he owes one day of ‘good time,’ so it’s gonna be another night.
