Twittering about landscape and architecture
I joined Twitter a few months ago and have been updating my own feed there more or less regularly. I was dismayed, however, to see that the ongoing Shorty Awards for Twitter users included all manner of subcategories, but nothing for landscape or architecture. I managed to get a few friendly nominations for BLDGBLOG to launch an architecture category – but, seriously: surely there are more people out there Twittering about landscape and architecture? Spatialists and landscape theorists and architecture fans – let's make this happen! Twitter needn't only be for social networking. Get yourselves nominated for awards and show the world that we can do buildings and space in 140 characters or less.

I also noticed that the built world needed to be built up on Twitter. There are actually lots of architects (especially) on Twitter, there are lots of landscape designers and industry folks too.
It just takes a while to get networked. I'm a PM, and I'm all about helping to grow the building related networks. Please follow me on Twitter, I'm already following you (bldgblog) thanks to janos, (I follow any development/design/build related Tweepeople) so we can DM on ways to grow the building community even faster.
Also, I would recommend that folks use twittgroups. I'm at twittgroups/group/construction, you might want to add yourself there and also create an Arch/LA group if one is missing so people can find you. Let me know and I'll add myself to that one too.
The network IS growing, and it's growing fast. Next year's Shorty's will be a very different election/awards.
BTW - "I'm gonna have some awesome news at bldgblog is a couple weeks" is SUCH a tease!
You are right, it´s strange not to see that category. As a twitter user, I found a lot of twitters moving on issues such as landscape, urbanism, architecture, urban manangement,...Let´s build a strong twitnetwork.
Hi,
Thanks for the information regarding twittgroups I will join.
Me too!!
I'm also interested in finding people in the design disciplines to follow on Twitter. I manage the @WSUSpokane account; we're home to the Interdisciplinary Design Institute, www.idi.spokane.wsu.edu.
We had a guest lecture this morning as part of our Design Research Conference, which I tweeted live from @WSUSpokane (I'm not a designer so I'm sure I missed key points!).
One of the things the speaker (Jamer Hunt from Parsons/New School) said was that the skill set for designers needs to include communications design. Being active in communities in social media is a critical part of that.

I,m also another architect-twitter user @ethel_baraona and totally agree that we need to support this category and make a strong network, as Manu says!!
We are lots of users that keep updated via twitter on architecture, landscape and urbanisms fields via twitter. For me is a strong tool!!
Hi, I'm an architecture student from the Isle of Man, so networking via the internet is a great tool for me - I got an account back in 2007 but didn't do much with it then as not many architects were on then, but recently it seems theres been an explosion! I'm on @craine, feel free to add me.
