Lucky Day?

Last weekend it felt like all the planets were aligning for me as I prepared for the Seaside Half-Marathon. The training was completed, I tapered as recommended the week before the race, the weather reports were positive, my mood was relaxed and I was mentally prepared. I was also finding pennies, heads-up, wherever I went the day before the race. The race seemed easy, painless and very well organized. Everything fell neatly fell into place to make a great weekend.

BERJAYAHowever, the karma of last weekend must have stayed in Destin, because I had no such "luck" for today's St Patty's Day "Lucky" 7K. This inaugural event was not very well organized. I won't go into detail, because Drew already posted a race report which covered most of my frustrations. Although I did a pre-race warmup, and a second warm-up on their 1 Mile race, I completely forgot my stretching routine. I had an excellent pace hitting the two mile mark, but the my right hamstring started cramping on me, and the last two miles were a struggle. I had hoped to stay with a cool kids, but Drew, Kym, Stephanie, and Amanda, all pulled away from as I faded to a limping trot on the last mile. I finished at a slower pace then the Half-Marathon last week. The delay of the race had made me anxious and brought bad fortune to this event. I have a history of doing poorly whenever races are delayed. Is this a mental problem?

I liked the rain, and being with my favorite running buddies, so the day wasn't a complete waste of time.

I will now take a few days off to let my hamstring heal. Really I will. Really.

It's Time

BERJAYAWorried about the economy? Why?

The U.S. is consuming the world's resources at a rate that is unsustainable. With less the 5% of the world's population, we consume 80% of the world's resources. If this were to continue, the U.S. will destroy the world within the next few centuries.

Economic growth is a deadly disease upon the Earth, and capitalism is it's most incurable affliction. We cannot have perpetual economic growth, and necessary climate and ecology practices. Economic growth is incompatible with a healthy earth.

The forces of Mordor (U.S.) will destroy the last few places of peace and healthy earth-friendly living in this world, until it is used every last resource within it's endless reach, and destroyed peace and nature, for the endless gluttony it demands.

Perhaps this can be prevented. Economic collapse destroyed the Roman Empire, and the Nazis dream of global domination. I'm hopeful economic collapse will shrink the USA's addictions to consumerism, material wealth, and global destruction of nature's resources.

The last eight years have seen unprecedented U.S. government spending and ever increasing use of dwindling military forces and contracted mercenaries to gain influence in the regions where we pilfer our "needed" resources. These actions have not only caused much shame to our country, but bitterness from groups whose ideals differ the majority of the U.S.'s.

We need to not only to stop our reckless economic growth, and cut it back to a more reasonable level. We need to stop our insatiable appetite for the worlds resources and learn to live in harmony with the other culture's needs and ideals, and in harmony with the earth that sustains our lives. We need to live within the space of the environment we inhabit, quit stealing resources from other places when we have plenty of our own to sustain us comfortably.

I'm not afraid of economic collapse, I think we need it, before the earth becomes a wasteland, and before our consumption becomes the cause of our extinction.

Nothing

"I got somethin' to say, an' then I ain't gonna say no more........
- Mayella in To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee"

Don't think you'll get that lucky. I have lots to say about what I don't like, and what I think is wrong with the world.

The world really isn't changing that much, it is me. Once, I once had a more positive outlook, but time has wasted my mind, and made me more critical.

When I was in my twenties, with two small kids, I couldn't believe how much my parents and in-laws complained about my generation, the way the government is run, how the ways of the world are not to their liking anymore. I didn't share their views, and couldn't understand why they were so negative about everything, and constantly complained.

I swore that I'd never be like that.

It happened anyway. Getting older sucks!

What's Right With the World?

BERJAYADon't turn on the news, you won't find a positive message there.

I'm having a hard time getting motivated to write any blog posts. There's plenty of happenings which would make good post subjects, bad bad news, mindless distractions, and inappropriate reactions to those events. The voices are screaming at me "YOU HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THAT", but I keep my voices repressed. I'm becoming too negative. Another voice states in a calm tween accent "Look for positive news, and shout about that".

So I look and look and look. The more I search for "good" news, the more depressed I become.

I want to go play with my grandkids some more, and forget the rest of this Mad World.

" "

BERJAYAFour years later and we're not finished screwing Iraq, yet. Boy it sure does feel good. Yes, it's bad, but just wait, we're going to make it worse, much worse. Have faith in me, we can be successful. Failure is Success.

Please forgive me for screwing up so much, but please allow me to continue until I've screwed up everything I possibly can.

Don't worry about the legality of what I do , it doesn't apply.

Thank you and God Bless America (only America and nobody else!).

This is whats called BUSHit.

Time for Gold

BERJAYA The things you humans do to each other, in the name of love, makes you the most spiritless creatures on the planet. We try to show what real love is, but humans don't get it. Selfless love will always be paid back to you much more than you give it. But you humans continue on this road of selfish love, the kind that gives absolutely nothing in return. --(SIGH)--

We will not start loving you less, we can't, the spirit of the universe has made us this way. All I ask is that you try learn from example.
