Remember the terrorist who said no to Bin Laden, you betrayed the Taliban:You have lost your way! Osama you are messing around with the DNA of Islam itself. I was impressed when I saw this interview on TV. It is obvious this man was a key high level player before 9/11 and was in on the meeting running up to it. This discussion was about an open letter written by Noman Benotman, a former commander in the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and a former associate of Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri.
In al Qaeda strategy meetings in Kandahar in 2000, Benotman warned the al-Qaeda leadership of ‘total failure' to realize their aims and called on bin Laden and al-Zawahiri to abandon violence. As you know they did not and he is out for good reason. He was at the high level meeting running up to 9/11, the Davos or terrorism and said no to Osama you will be defeated, this is not about Islam this is not Jihad.
He comes out now and says no this must stop. We are not winning and I was right. We have betrayed Islam. We are killing the very people and cause we were supposed to be fighting for. Knowing our response to past attacks they thought our response would be 200 missiles or so, so they took the chance. Needless to say they did more damage and killed more people than they thought they would and this is just beginning unless the Islamists quit because we must fight for our lives.
Noman Benotman loves and respects Bin Laden but like Al Zawahiri Al Qaeda number two he does not think Bin Laden is very smart. However, he does not have to be. He got this so called Jihad going and has incited the Islamist rancor he intended. whether he's Dead or alive the battle on. For Islamists this has taken on a life of its own. If indeed Bin Laden is alive as we are led to believe, only he can stop this. In reality he is the greatest enemy of his people.
Bin Laden is solely responsible for all this war death and destruction. He's no frigging hero to Muslims. They should hunt him down themselves and end this! Noman considered himself a freedom fighter and he was. He fought alongside Bin Laden against the Russians but said these wars have nothing to do with Islam. It is purely political and it is time to lay down arms, 100% and end all this senseless violence.
We know this but Noman says Al Qaeda and now Islamists of all stripes offers meaning to those who have none and gives them a cause but has nothing to do with Islam or Jihad. This all boils down to communications and I agree but Islamists are not interested in communicating. They are interested in our destruction. violence is their communication.
Osama stop bring shame on Islam. Stop killing your own people. Stop bring death and destruction on them. You forsook Mullah Omar who invited you into Afghanistan to give you protection. Bin Laden used Afghanistan for his own personal war against the west, the US, and Israel. This is not Islam , this is not Jihad. Restore Muslim integrity, end this now! An Open Letter to Osama bin Laden -- by Noman Benotman | The AfPak ...
It was 8 months ago but I was pretty pleased that Gulbuddin Hekmatyar Representatives of his major insurgent faction have presented a formal 15-point peace plan to the Afghan government of Hamid Karzai. This was the first concrete proposal to end hostilities and get us the heck out of there. Obama can do this, he is doing it.
This would not even be a thought under Bush. As we said in Iraq the Afghan's too must come together so we can leave. They can then turn on each other as I fully expect to be the case in Iraq and also in Afghanistan. Anyway representatives of Hezb-e-Islami met on Monday with representatives of the Government. This is huge as Hezb-e-Islami, or Islamic operates under a separate command from the Taliban, it has links to the Taliban leadership and Al Qaeda and has fought on a common front against foreign forces in Afghanistan.
They only want what I want and that is a withdrawal date for all foreign forces on Afghani soil. That is doable under Obama. We can really do this! They wanted us to start in July and have it completed in 6 months. The 6 month time frame would have to be flexible and they would have to police the still militant Taliban and keep the peace amongst themselves even if only until we leave as I expect. Insurgent Faction Presents Afghan Peace Plan
Israel does not want peace! Taking the process out of their hands is the only chance for peace we have and then it will only be temporary until this blows and we get dragged into this militarily too. Extremist Jews damage Palestinian olive trees
Remember, Israel was created in 1948, after UN Resolution 181 partitioned the territory of the British Mandate for Palestine into two states for Jews and Palestinian Arabs. At the time, there were approximately 1.2 million Arabs and 650,000 Jews in all of Palestine. The Arabs objected to the creation of the Jewish state and fought a war against it. The Arab side lost the war, and the Palestinian state never really came into being. The territory allotted to the Palestinian state by the UN partition resolution was taken over by Israel and Jordan. About 780, 000 Palestinians became refugees, many of them living in the Gaza strip as well as in the West Bank. Background and map of Palestine
A video that has since been taken off line surfaced where Helen Thomas is asked, at of all things the White House Jewish Heritage Celebration on May 27th 2010, "any comments on Israel." Helen Thomas said "Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine. Remember, these people are occupied and it's their land. Not Germany. Not Poland." When the questioner, who knew he's caught a live one, asked where Jews should go, Thomas didn't miss a beat, saying "They go home, Poland, Germany, and America' and everywhere else." Helen Thomas said Jews should get out of Palestine Well?
You know, there is so much in what she said, the original agreement, our guilt in this conflict that will never end peacefully, what Ahmadinejad said a year ago... You know, first reading how Israel and Palestine was allotted their territories in 1948 I do not condone that Israel has not been forced to adhere to that resolution. We, the US Britain and Europe especially are as guilty as Israel for not insisting Israel adhere to UN Resolution 181.
You know I say often that we are Israel's lap dog, her pit Bull that will do the fighting for her when she gets in trouble. Israel I came to realize is the worlds chief warmonger and the US the enforcer. It became obvious that coming to Israel's rescue would be how the US has the excuse to go after Iran.
I can not stand the fascist Ahmadinejad and his senseless antagonism nor his unrelenting desire to obliterate Israel. That said, I have to agree with something he said a year ago and Helen Thomas just said and apologized for. The Israel, Palestinian, Iran, Syria, Middle East issue will never be resolved peacefully, Knowing that I have to agree with Ahmadinejad when he said if the US and Europe felt so bad for what happened to the Jews during WW2 then they should have given them part of their country.
* In closing Helen Thomas said "Tell them (Israel) to get the hell out of Palestine. Remember, these people are occupied and it's their land, not Germany, not Poland. When the questioner asked where Jews should go, Thomas didn't miss a beat, saying "They go home, Poland, Germany, and America' and everywhere else."
Well that may be true but it will never happen of course and Ahmadinejad may be right in that one issue but the best we could hope for is an adherence to UN resolution 181. That will never happen either and all I can see is a total Middle East breakdown that Bush guaranteed when he attacked Iraq to help Israel set up their buffer zone.
Japan warns of China's military rise People keep saying I am making too much about China and Japan's recent row over the capture of one of China's fishing boats by China but this is no joke. We do not have to be concerned about China responding militarily to us but I too am concerned that in one respect or the other Japan does and thus we will be dragged in and it wouldn't be pretty.
Cooler heads better prevail as this is no joke and it continues to ratchet up.I once again better reiterate the big picture and seriousness of an issue! This is no joke or normal diplomatic gamesmanship. Normally when we think of problems in Asia we think of North Korea and Taiwan. We forget about Japan's relationship but always China is in there somewhere.
With no end to the fishing boat dispute in sight, relations between Asia's two biggest economies are in danger of backsliding. Taiwan has been trying to get involved in this too making their claims Row sees China cancel Japan visit it has been tit for tat ever since even though the boats captain has been released. Both sides want apologies and both want the other to pay. This has got to stop!
Remember the "incident this past spring with the 10 Chinese warships including destroyers and submarines off Okinawa? This put a new light on things to me. Look at the big picture once again. Japan has got to be rethinking their constant effort to get the US Military to leave Okinawa. It will behoove Japan to have us there. This puts a whole new light on China's turn around on Iran, their monetary finagling, and their last minute turn around on whether or not to attend the nuclear summit. This latest row really has to have Japan rethinking.
Remember Just prior to this sudden mood and cooperation change with the US we were being threatened for arming Taiwan, for meeting with the Dalai lama in Washington, and threatened with slowing our economic recovery. I fell for the line of thought that the so called experts were floating that China realized that if we go down so do they.
Cooperation between China Russia and the US is critical! Obama was right to say our ties will shape the future of the 21st century. The US and China are eying each other and moving very cautiously as they try to strike a balance. A few years back I began to view our relationship with China as the most important in the world. Not because we drove each others economy but because if at the time with Bush's instigation to war with Russia China due to the fact of how our 2 economies are so intertwined that if something happened China would side with us not Russia. I never imagined that today problems between China and Japan would be the issue.
As we discussed there have been at least three cases of groups of Chinese military ships crossing through the area of Okinawa since November 2008, first 4 ships then 6 then 8 and now 10 including destroyers and submarines. That case appeared to be the first involving surfaced submarines. The group of 10 ships, including the submarines, was observed about 90 miles (140 kilometers) southwest of Okinawa in international waters.
Two missile destroyers and three frigate ships from the same group were spotted participating in a flight exercise of carrier-based helicopters April 7-9, the Defense Ministry's Joint Staff Office said in a statement The war ships were in international waters but close to Okinawa and Japan was not notified. That area as you may know has natural resources under the ocean and islands claimed by both Nations. It is important that we stay in Okinawa as China plays a more important role in Asia and around the world as she gains strength militarily and economically as we just discussed. Remember our discussion on the importance of China and the US staying together to move successfully through the 21st century
We must maintain as much of the old world balance and order as we can to maintain a balance as we try to move progressively and successfully through the 21st century! I know of China and Japan's past, I know of the still ongoing Island disputes, the disagreement over natural gas in another area of the East China Sea, I also remember that with China's economic clout rising she took the number 3 seat on the world bank and we talk constantly that China is taking the leading role in Asia and Asia relations.
Being in a superior position puts one in a unique position of power and that power must be handled gracefully, with humility, responsibly, and not abused. That is something I taught all my sons and America under Bush did a lousy job of handling. I am a little worried that China too is getting a little too heavy handed and abusive with her new position of power and beginning to take what she wants instead of being content with what she has which is what I constantly lecture has to be the case if we are to have a future. The time when man and the planet could handle war and colonialism is over, period or else!
Cheney Bush and Condi did all this. I discussed it ad nauseum and I have to get things together to go down to the VA and that takes most of a day but that is why Afghanistan became known as Pipestan. Everyone forgets but remember the secret White House meetings with the so called energy Czars?
They had meetings with the Taliban in the WH and in Crawford. After the Taliban said no to Bush putting an oil pipeline through Afghanistan Bush threatened to attack them and what a surprise, 9/11 was allowed to happen and we did. This is well worth a quick read at least after the Kennedy stuff but did you ever read we do not have clean hands in Afghanistan
This is another small part of this entire total package mess that is barely beginning. I was glad to hear Shahzad say that at his trial but the stupid idiots in charge hear just laugh it off and dismiss it as the talk of frustration. They don't have a frigging clue!
The Taliban, Al Qaeda, Islamists, terrorists, whatever you want to label them are playing. This is fun to them, this is what they want to do for a living, kill the infidel. This is the End of days fight they have long called for and right where they want it.
We have to get the hell out of there! Pakistan refused to open the Border and all our supply trucks were sitting ducks and got destroyed even though NATO apologized for accidentally killing 2 soldiers. I am more concerned than ever for their 65 or so nukes though we do have black ops there ready to secure them if necessary. That as you know will be another can of worms and make things much worse!
A month ago Gates said if need be we can depend on the navy for more forces if needed as they are not over extended. I beg to differ with that but it is becoming more obvious daily that we are losing Pakistan and look at Iran. WTF! We are going to end up going after both of them from the gulf, watch. At one time we had 5 carrier battle groups in the Gulf and France's Charles De Gaulle guarding the mouth.
Watch to see if there is another build up coming and refueling aircraft coming from Diego Garcia. that will be the tip off! I do not like the way this is looking and as I keep saying, this is barely beginning. Just think of the ramifications of all this at the same time, our Political BS and dire financial and economic condition, and world players at large.
We have been in Afghanistan going on 10 years over a lie and it is barely beginning and getting worse and worse as this forever war is barely beginning!
Russia Demands Lifting Of US Blockade Against Cuba bans Iranian investments in nuclear industry, excellent, invite them to join NATO ASAP!
Over a year ago after Obama met with Dmitri Medvedev and proposed Russia and the US press the reset button after the mess Bush made of Russian US relations stupidly the issue being discussed was that Russia was trying to get control of the reset button. I am happy to see they have under Medvedev
We have unity with Obama and Medvedev instead of the race to war with Putin and Bush! Obama started this new detente, this new cooperation as had to be the case to send the message. Obama was criticized for it by Republicans as usual but it was the right thing to do. I am glad to see Russia under Medvedev has picked up the baton.
I like the way this new relationship is going, now one up them! Put the onus on Russia! Put them to the test and advertise it to the world. Supposedly Russia views the expansion of the alliance to include former Soviet republics as a direct threat to Russian interests but are ready again to seek together responses to modern challenges and threats to international security. Russia says ready to resume NATO ties
NATO is not a threat to Russia. We need Russia as an ally to fight the so called war on terror in Afghanistan and around the world and to successfully proceed through the 21st century. Remind Russia of their past desire to join NATO and offer it to them. There is only one choice! end all this! Invite Russia to join NATO. This is not a new idea.
Once upon a time, it was openly entertained in diplomatic circles East and West. In late 1991, the final days of the U.S.S.R Boris Yeltsin stunned a NATO meeting by sending a letter with this unilateral declaration: "Today we are raising a question of Russia's membership in NATO.
" Tom Friedman reported for the New York Times at the time, were "too taken aback ... to give any coherent response." In the ensuing years, as Yeltsin with characteristic bravura continued to raise the prospect, the West kept fumbling for a reply.
Even Putin, in his first days in the Kremlin, seized on the issue. Instead of taking the perfect opportunity to unite the world Reagan and at least the Bush's chose to make a worse enemy of Russia and widen the gap between the west and Russia by instigating them to war.We had the perfect opportunity to unite the world in peace and our past leaders chose to divide it further by trying to rule the world.
We must put an end to this desire to rearm to fight each other, threaten each other, dominate each other. World unity is the only way for a successful future.
I thought 180 million gallons of that toxic radioactive sludge dumped in the towns, country side, and water supply was horrific. Environmental groups are now warning of other potential disasters, among them seven storage ponds about 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Budapest that hold 12 million tons of sludge accumulated since 1945, more than 10 times the amount that spilled last week
A high risk of another up to 500,000 cubic meters of even thicker sludge escaping the reservoir due to a deterioration of a wall in the stricken part of the reservoir. the interior minister informed us that cracks have appeared in the northern wall of the reservoir, whose corner collapsed, which make it likely that the entire wall will collapse. Hungary's premier says red sludge reservoir walls 'very likely' to collapse
James M. Joiner was born in Danvers and raised in Historic Salem, Massachusetts. "I was very lucky to have spent my childhood on Gallows Hill and a child of the streets in mid 1960s Salem. I roamed all the historic sites routinely as they were all free in those days," he says.
